Maybe you should answer the question. Even if what you said is true (which its not) how does that make him a cancer? Haynesworth is a cancer, to group McNabb in there with him is just stupid.

But what if you watched all the games and already determined McNabb is not a cancer? U callin me steerpid boy?

I totally agree McNabb is a cancer though. I heard a secret report that said all the players near his locker have suffered low white blood cell counts ever since he arrived. Sounds like cancer to me.

BUT I can tell you regardless of who plays behind this line, we have no chance at success...UNTIL that changes. We do not need to mortgage our future. We need to build the Hogs2 and we will have a running and passing game to contend with.
A QB....ANY qb cannot do that alone
Suddenly we're not one player away but apparently an offensive line away from winning a Super Bowl. The problem with the last regime was total neglect so understandably the fan base wanted the team to start actually trying to acquire talent up front. However the fan base has now gotten to the point where we're overcompensating. So rather then trying to take a balanced approach to building a team suddenly we have to stop everything and build an offensive line with early picks, even if it means passing up a potential franchise QB in the draft or acquiring players to fit a new defensive scheme, because apparently every elite QB in the league has this unbreakable pocket that never puts them under pressure with running lanes you can drive a pickup truck through.

For God sakes 6 new players this off season including freaking bookends. And yet we're still under the impression that the front office is ignoring the offensive lines. Especially since they're considering committing the ultimate sin, drafting a first round QB instead of a Guard.
This team will still be nothing with only an elite QB and stud LT. We still need to address virtually every position on the roster with the exception of TE right now. We have very little depth and very few picks to start with. I can't believe you can say we would be on our way to an elite team with only those two positions accounted for.

Sure Luck looks like the QB of the decade. But what if he's not? What if he is only average, or a bust? Then you've set the team back years as we will have zero good draft picks and nothing to show for it going forward. This is the oldest team in the NFL. You are right it is time to cut the payroll and start over. But the way to do that is through the draft. You can't trade all your high picks like you are having a fire sale and then sit there and say AND we have to cut payroll and start over. Can't have your cake and eat it too. Impossible. Your position is like Communism. Great in theory, a terrible disaster in real world application.
But what if he is, it only set us back one year in the draft(this year). This time next year we will be looking at the same thing. It's only three or four picks. This team will not be a a playoff team every year until you address the qb. If you bring a young qb, it's time to cut payroll and start over. The coaches have a lot of players who either don't or will not fit their system. So next year will be a rebuilding year anyway. Why not fix this position now, and build from their. No team builds compete through the draft. Not one team in the league has players on their team that they only drafted.

look at the good teams in the league. Pats, Ravens, Steelers, Colts, Packers, Falcons, and Eagles. they build through the draft and add cheap and reasonable FA's thats how you win in the NFL. if Luck is available when we pick then i dont have a problem. cant give up all those draft picks for a QB who will get beat up and have no weapons or a defense the can stop people.

Any WIN is GREAT!

Nice to see some of these young guys trying to make this team next year come out and fight. This was one if not the most solid games (complete) we have played all year we actually played 60 minutes of football, plus a few minutes....job well done!

Special Teams and Defense/The MASH Unit played solid today. Offense played ok, nice to see Ryan (THE TRAIN) continuing to run the ball well.

Because that is what we call in the business, the Cerrato Philosophy. It is documented as a losing philosophy resulting in the near or fatal collapse of an NFL franchise. If you use this philosophy this year for this pick you are going to keep using it. Just like a kid that tries to bribe you into doing it one more time. Aw come on, it'll just be this one time. AKA we will just use this year's pick and next year's 1st this one time. Then next time it will be the same thing. You can't keep doing that. That is the culture that got us here. And that mind frame will keep us in the cellar.

I used to be like you, but now I see the light. As I have stated in the past, we need not the Cerrato Philosophy, but the Raheem Morris philosophy. Shed almost all of your veteran dead weight, draft and pick up YOUNG free agent players and VOILA! Since I have converted I sleep a lot better and feel like a better and wiser Redskins fan... You should try it.

I'm a subscriber to the Bill Walsh and Sam Pollock philosophy, actually. Hold onto to those picks and use the trade up maneuver when you can buffer yourself, not when you're treading water.

I sleep good already. This is the first time I have thought like this. You have your ideas, I have mine. If they keep the picks and use them, fine. This time next year they will still looking for a qb. I think they should address it now, then next year address the other things through the draft. As for the Cerrato philosophy, that wasn't trading draft picks as much as not picking for need. The biggest problem with this team is the qb. You can say o-linemen or d-linemen. Until you get a elite qb, you will always have the same problem. If you going to draft linemen only, why not keep McNabb.

It's a slippery slope from not 100%(which could then mean any value from 0-99%) to necessarily being barely any at all. And top 5 picks fetch a hefty price tag.

It's not 100% draft and UDFA, but it's usually at least 50% of the roster on the Super Bowl winning teams.

Some have more more drafted players than others. Pittsburgh is one of those teams.

Other teams aren't so heavy with their own picks, but they have key players contributing for them, like Reggie Bush, Pierre Thomas, and a good chunk of the Saints' O-line.

Cerrato picked for need and but also constantly devalued OL. Other teams pick BPA but don't suck because there's no OL discrimination. 2008 was all about need. Durant Brooks, Rhinehart, three "big" targets.

Tthe QB should be put in the best position to win, not to just break even by making up for his teammates' flaws.

The Jets didn't have a QB for years, but they sure amassed a talented team before opening the draft pick pocketbooks two years in a row to try and grab a QB.

I know. I am just kidding with you. You are entitled to your own opinion. If things turned out like you say and he was the corner stone of our franchise for 10-15 years you wouldn't hear me complain. It is just such a high risk/ high reward chance you are taking. I guess you can call me conservative.
Forget the experts, watch him play. This guy is playing with below average wr's. He is better than any qb we have right now. Until we fix this qb thing, we always going to be a middle of the road team. We should be able to get some form of draft picks for guys like Hall, Carter, AH, and DM. This guy is made for this system.
Best you would get for AH and DM would be a straight up 3rd rounder for each one. AH is a problem child and Donovan has already hit the apex of his career, only the downward spiral is left for him. Everyone knows we want to unload these two for anything, so they will act accordingly. As for your infatuation with Luck, two names for you: Harrington and Carr. With poor Ramsey in the #3 slot, this was supposed to be the best QB class in a long time and they all 3 were epic failures once they turned pro. Playing Pac 10 beat ons for most of your schedule and doing well doesn't mean much once you get into the NFL.

Re: Week 16: Redskins vs. Jaguars Gameday thread

NO MORE TRADING AWAY PICKS!!! We are not 1 player away we are several players away. We need to keep our current picks or if anything trade back and try to collect more picks for this draft. We need an influx of young talent everywhere on our roster. Bring back Grossman for next season and Beck.

We need to keep getting younger. We need to spend a mid-round draft pick on a DB and bring him in as a starter. Rogers is a free agent and Buchannon most likely isnt getting resigned. At safety we should switch Barnes to a FS. Secondary next year - Drafted DB, FS Barnes, SS Landry, DB Hall. Keep 2 of the 4 out of Moore, Doughty, Horton, and Harris as backup safeties and ST players. Draft an OLB or have McIntosh slim down a bit and move to OLB opposite of Orakpo. Riley should be a starter. Orakpo, Riley, Fletcher, McIntosh/Drafted OLB would be a solid group. I think our offense will be much improved next year. WR's - Moss, Kelly, Armstrong, Austin, Banks i think can be a solid wr group so we can use our other picks to keep bolstering the O-Line.

You draw many conclusions. To my knowledge (that means I'm to lazy to re-read my previous posts) I have generally suggested:
1) It is not necessary to mortgage our future on the #1 pick, which would go for several picks this years and next.
2) I have stated that our O-line is...poor and regardless what the plan is "MUST be attended to" in the form of personnel upgrades (first pick, last pick....FA's, just get it going the right way)
3) Behind a good line, an offense can dominate without a Superstar QB. I don't believe it necessary to elaborate further for examples.
4) Do you disagree with that?
I'm talking about three picks, hell we draft 2 wr's and a te and none of them will be a star. This is the year to do it. This draft is a waste without a 3rd and 4th round pick. With a elite qb and a stud at LT, we will on our way to a elite team. This team has a lot over paid or over rate players. It's time to cut the payroll and start over. This is the guy to do it with. I don't know if teams will be willing to trade with us. But I know one thing, the guys we have now won't cut it on winning teams.
