Tell me how any of these players aren't worth the skins time? We need another lineman and a Linebacker. The WR's are Marginal at best. I admit Jenkins is a reach but last year we signed both Larry Johnson and Parker when most thought we couldn't do it. (even if they didn't make the team in the end) |
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
Completely Off-Topic:
I just heard on the Doug Gottlieb show that Vinny said somewhere (on the radio I guess) yesterday that he offered two first rounders to the Bengals for Chad Ochocinco back in the day when Ocho was asking to be traded. Did anyone hear this? Is this true? |
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
Yeah I know we talked about this a few months back. It's odd though because someone else very involved in the trade talks back then told me it was something like a 1st and 3rd that could be as high as a 1st for Chad and a conditional late pick...but it's Vinny so what can you really believe. Still...willing to give up up to two 1st round picks for Ocho...but won't move a 5th for Jamaal Charles.
I think people should remember that the salary floor was going to drive up the prices of free agents. Although we haven't overpaid for anyone the way Vinny used to.
they dont have to meet the floor till january, so it doesn't necessarily mean anything for the FA market. Teams can wait till december and spend up to the floor paying their own guys with new long term deals or accelerating bonus money or what have you. there's not urgent need to blow it all right now. |

Thank god Mike Brown is Mike Brown, because if it had been any other team in the NFL they'dve taken it and ran, and we'd have no Orakpo and Trent Williams, or possibly our '08 first rounder and Orakpo. Not sure if the offer was before the 2008 draft or after. |

Byron Westbrook re-signed, much to SmootSmack's glee.

Has rex even signed? If why is everyone acting like he will. If it was a priority he would be cause hes missing out on things on the field. I would say he wont be back

Even if Rex signs, he can't practice 'till August 4th, when the new league year starts. So what's the rush? He's not going to have many suitors in free agency, and he already knows this is probably his best chance to get an opportunity, since he knows the playbook. Free agency isn't over yet. |

Anybody know where to find the official contract numbers for our free agents we have signed?

Hooskins, what's your scouting report on Marc Verica?

Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
Cincinnati is a dreadful team right now. The only reason their QB situation isn't being mentioned as a notch below ours and Seattles is because of the uncertainty around Palmer. But assuming he's not playing, they're barren. Dalton would be one of the worst rookie starts in years: AFC defenses will eat him alive this year. Gradkowski tops their depth chart; he's horrible. Jordan Palmer didn't make it here. That's ugly.

Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
ya, you are wrong.
as much as i hate to admit it, i think the job is sexy rexy's lto lose. he showed flashes of great ability last year, and if he can keep those turnovers in check, might be able to piece together an ok season. but sadly, i hate to say this, right now, he is our #1 chance to win games this year at the qb position. |
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
Not sure if anyone has mentioned him in this thread, but I wouldn't mind scooping up Green Bay's FB John Kuhn. He was a beast for the Pack last year and he's a FA. Certainly an upgrade from a converted Darrel Young or a 36 year old Sellers.

I was thinking the same. |

I'll third that. I saw highlights of his blocking and of him down at the goal line and he reminded me of a younger Sellers. I definitely wouldn't be against bringing him in for a low price. |
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
At this point, I would throw a 2 year contract offer at Aubrayo Franklin just to see if he bites. There's been zero interest in him so far.

Mike S. Said it best, sometimes you can't just sign 2 Big names and ignore the rest of the team needs.

Surprised Leach isn't getting much mention
hooskins likely can give you a better scouting report. But as a follower of the Cavs, I can say that I am surprised that we, or anyone, picked up Verica. His arm is not bad but his accuracy and decision making are not the best. |

I'm really surprised no one has been talking about Barrett Ruud. I thought he was a solid ILB. Anyone heard anything? I have been saying I think we should give him a look.............
