#72 for the Bucs is long gone, horrible game.

Wow, Thompson almost had the pick there.

Tampa WR had that.

Good job by Jones, he showed a lot of hustle out there.

5 sacks is nice, even for a preseason game. When's the last time we even did that?

Jones ends it! Sack! Skins win!!!!!

(I know, I know...it's just the preseason.)

Thompson could of had about 3 picks today. He looks good IMO though.

I don't know how you cut any of these LB's. Maybe keep them all and play Rak and Kerrigan at DE. :D

Nice to see some depth in certain spots.

He helped himself quite a bit tonight. Glad I'm not the one making cuts.

Moss
Gaffney
Armstrong
Stallworth
Hankerson
Austin
Banks

Either Stallworth doesn't make it or Austin gets traded or do they keep 7 receivers?

quick side note - Richard Bartel is tearing it up with the arizona cardinals right now. he looks really confident and is showing really good zip and poise..........i wonder if arizona is gonna keep him around.........

Last year there were only 2 receivers I felt deserved to make the team (moss and Armstrong). Joey Galloway was our #2 reciever and he didn't deserve to be on an NFL team. This year, there are 8 guys fighting for 6 spots and going to drop 2 guys who will be picked up elsewhere... How the he'll did shanahan bring that kind of competition here in one year?

How? Easy, the FO gave him plenty of draft picks, and they used them wisely for a change.

You wouldn't get much for Stallworth, Austin has more upside and would love to keep him instead.

exactly, so trade Stallworth if there's any interest or cut him because Austin needs to be kept.

Also, it seems that Keenan McCardell is doing a good job as WRs coach.

Yeah, you could trade Stallworth easier probably to a team in real need of a sure go to guy, a proven commodity. I guess they could just release Stallworth and say screw it if we have to face him in during the season.

Re: Tampa Bay vs Washington Gameday Thread

I hate that Banks is so good as a returner (I know, an illogical comment) ...b/c I don't think he's that great at WR...or not as good as Austin could be. I hope they find a way to keep both of them. I wouldn't care much about losing Stallworth, and I don't think Paul gets picked up from waivers.

GusFrerotte 09-01-2011 11:36 PM

Re: Tampa Bay vs Washington Gameday Thread

I like our newbie wideouts, but I am not sure they would for sure garner more interest than Stallworth if the team is in dire need of a sure handed vet WR. I mean go for the proven commodity in the vet or go for a kid that is younger and had a nice preseason, but might not hack it as well during the real deal.

Terence Austin has shown plenty of polish to be the #3 here. We can afford to allocate rookies as our receivers #4 and #5 if they contribute in special teams(or is named Leonard Hankerson).

I am with you on that. I am just saying though Austin might not necessarily be a more wanted commodity than Stallworth. Stallworth has been around longer, and everyone knows him. Austin is a newbie. A team might trade a low round pick for a sure handed vet WR that still has some left in the tank til 2012 and they will draft a guy. You and me know who Terrence Austin is, but not too many in the NFL do. My whole thing is to keep Terrence and trade Donte, but I am also saying Donte might garner more trade interest anyway.

Truth is, we need Austin to back Banks up if or when he goes down.

Re: Tampa Bay vs Washington Gameday Thread

I still don't know about Brandon Banks making the team.

I think Donte Stallworth doesn't make it, Paul does, Brandyn Thompson doesn't, and Chris Horton doesn't. I think that Rob Jackson makes it, Markus White goes to the PS, and Thaddeus Gibson makes the team based on the fact that teams really want him.

I think Beck is our starter week one, and he would have had a better night had he of had first teamers out there. That first bomb would have been a catch.

Royster is PS.

Sellers is cut, Keiland is kept, but cut later in the season.

Neild is PS, but gets picked up by another team.

Re: Tampa Bay vs Washington Gameday Thread

At WR
I think you keep 7
Moss, Gaffney, AA, Austin, Hankerson, Banks, and Stallworth, and hope that Paul doesn't get picked up off waivers.

LB's

You keep 8

ILB- Riley, Mcintosh
ILB- Fletcher, Fox
OLB Kerrigan, White
OLB- Orakpo, Jackson

BTW- I was never sold on Beck starting at QB. WAY too inconsistent, and tonight proved it.

JoeRedskin 09-02-2011 12:51 AM

Re: Tampa Bay vs Washington Gameday Thread

I think they keep six WR's and Banks as a returner. Although I like the guy, I hope Stallworth is the guy the cut rather than Paul.

Outside linebacker gotta keep Rak, Kerrigan, Jackson. Pretty sure White makes it too, he flashed pretty well all preseason. Problem is, what do you do with Alexander? You have to find a place for a guy like him. Not sure why they never tried him at inside backer - maybe he's too slow. Other than Fletcher - it's just a bunch of guys. None stand out.

JoeRedskin 09-02-2011 12:53 AM

Re: Tampa Bay vs Washington Gameday Thread

I wonder if they IR Royster to keep him around for the year and keep Hightower, Helu, Torrain with K. Williams and D. Young at FB. KW can double as the 4th RB and is a good special teamer.
