I still think he returns for 3 years, $20 some million (25 or so)
I still think he returns for 3 years, $20 some million (25 or so)
That'd be a good deal, as long as the contract gets structured so that year three is pretty much a dummy year and the real contract is 2/14-16.

Re: Redskins: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades

3rd year is definitely the key...hard to believe we will be getting anything out of London at that point. The old Redskins would say we will worry about that cap hit 3 years from now. I don't think we should do contracts like that with older players anymore. I trust that Bruce will structure the contract with that in mind and if London is not agreeable then he will be elsewhere...

I believe so, no way is anybody going to pay him what he's asking for - and if they do, I have to say let him walk.

I absolutely LOVE London Fletcher, but sometimes too much is too much, especially for a guy who is getting older and is starting to show injuries. It's easier letting the ones go who don't perform, but it'll be hard for a guy like London.
I'm hearing he wants 9 per.
that's fine if none of it is guaranteed. if it's all dependent on him reaching incentives, something like averaging his season totals for the years he's been here. otherwise, he can wake up

Maybe they told London to test the market and we'll match it. That way he'll get a market value deal.

Would love Tulloch on this team. Durable, tough, not the class act Fletcher is but still a damned good football player.

Not sure how I feel about Fletcher especially since it's looking more and more like we're going to get a young QB. What would we be able to expect from a 39 year old Fletcher in 2014 as that would be the earliest the team would be ready to compete for a Super Bowl with a 2012 rookie QB.

We have no business paying London Fletcher more than 5 million year. If we pay 9 million we would be back to the idiots of the nfl

He was already getting $5M a year, I think it's fair to give him a bump. I wouldn't go $9M either, but the $7M range seems appropriate.

The franchise tag would have given him $9M, just for reference.

He's been at the top of the league in tackles since forever. Including last year. Does that sound like slowing down to you? Age is just a number my friend. It is simply mind over matter. If you don't mind*, it doesn't matter.

I am starting to hear it could take 3 1st round draft choices for the Redskins to get RG3.

Based on what he's done here the last 5 years, how can you not give him more $$?

You think he's gonna go somewhere else for only $5m per??

He is at the end of his career. What did Ray Lewis get? A guy like Fletcher should be allowed to test free agency. No team will pay him more than 6 million. Probably less than 5.

No way. The Rams will never get that much and it behooves them too much to make some kind of deal.

if that is true then bye bye RG3 i would not do that. i would take my chances with Tannehill/Weeden/Cousins/Foles and Orton.

Don't listen to that pile of bull, its going to cost us an arm and a leg to get RG3. The Redskins always knew that Payton Manning was not coming to us. They were hoping to use him as a smoke screen, but it backfired to a degree with Payton clearly saying he does not want to play in DC.

Ray got 3 years $22M

Sounds about right for Fletch.

edit: Well, actually Ray's deal was a little complicated, here are the details
