Re: Release Josh Morgan or else....
Making Josh Morgan out to be the scapegoat for losing the game by benching him is not the proper way to go about this. I think the guilt and the embarrassment, not to mention the mindless death threats he's gotten, are all punishment enough. He's a smart guy and has not had a history of being undisciplined. His one mistake was not why the 'skins lost the game. If the defense hadn't been Swiss cheese throughout the ballgame, Morgan's mistake would have been a moot point. Heck, you guys would have applauded him for standing up to Finnegan. Yes, it was stupid, but time to let it go. The 'skins offense needs Morgan, and I think Morgan's gonna make up for his mistake.
I betcha $100 Gary Clark probably would have done the same thing. |

Re: Release Josh Morgan or else....
Anything at the end of a game stands out as THE play that won or lost the game, but the bottom line is that even without a thrown ball by Morgan, Cundiff STILL has to make a 48 yarder to TIE and then all you haters are saying that with over a minute left in the game and timeouts remaining that the Rams were not going to get within FG range and win it outright. Somehow I think Amendola would have caught 3 more balls and gone for over 200 yards and the Rams may have won anyway. In the second half other than Fletcher's two individually caused turnovers, the Skins were doing nothing to stop the Rams. Its just time to move on.

If Garçon is still unhealthy you can't bench him. |

No Clark never got into any accidents that I remember, but he was a fire cracker. Steve Smith reminds me a lot of Gary Clark. He probably had so much respect among defensive backs in the league back then that they knew if they tried anything on him, he was gonna burn them deep. Morgan still has to prove himself, but I think this will be a positive learning experience for him. |
I wouldnt even follow through with my threat to not be a fan anymore, let alone threaten someone on twitter. I was really upset in that moment. Given that local and national media have been asking the exact same question for 4 days though, i dont know how far out in left field i was when i started this. I've always got Rodney Harrison i guess.
Don't sweat it. I think Morgan should sit awhile. He was already losing his cool at the top of the 4th qtr, and the mistake he made not getting the 1st down is reason alone to sit him. Not sure we'd miss him either, even if Garcon sits again. We need to get Davis, Hankerson and Moss the ball. Robinson too. |
Re: Release Josh Morgan or else....
People seem to be ignoring how solid Morgan's blocking has been. I hope he scores the game winner on Sunday and points two middle fingers up at the crowd

well, that will mos def get him a suspension. but i agree. His game has been solid, alot of knee jerk reaction by the fans, I thought it would have simmered my Monday morning. |

Either that, or he could throw the ball at the fans as a kind of F**K YOU with just over a minute left like last week, prompting the replacement refs to throw another flag, giving the other team position AT the 35 this time, thus giving them the time to move into field goal range and lose the game for us again. F Josh Morgan. I still don't see the hype. I see nothing that he does that Moss, Robinson or Hankerson couldn't do. |

I guarantee you all that Josh Morgan will never make another bone headed play for the rest of his time here in Washington. GUARANTEE!

Not only that but he has 6 receptions on 7 targets for 71 yds, that is solid production For a comparison: Robinson has 6/7 for 92 Moss has 6/8 for 61 Garcon 4/4 for 109 (88 on 1, so 3 for 21 on the others) |
Re: Release Josh Morgan or else....
This sure is a crowd of "what have you done for me lately" fans. But I dunno why I'm surprised, this is the same people who thought Moss was worthless and could've been cut after we picked up Garcon.
|
Re: Release Josh Morgan or else....
I'm ready to forgive and forget. People tend to see the negative. The positives I saw Sunday was that the Redskins hung tough on the road and the offense managed again to put up points that they couldn't produce a year ago. This team is improving. Morgan knows he owes it to himself and to Redskins fans to step up from here on out. Let's see what he does for the remainder of the season.

Re: Release Josh Morgan or else....
That last game is the kind that can fire a team up and get them going for a while. It was a painful loss for the team and the fans.
|
Re: Release Josh Morgan or else....
REDSKINS4ever and Monkeydad, I like the optimism. But I feel for the players (not talking about Morgan here) and especially our defense. They have to overcome questionable coaching and FO decisions to compete. I think our roster is better than our team, if that makes sense.

I'm with you there. The overreaction regarding Morgan bonehead play has been ridiculous. Its not like he's had a history of stupid decisions like this either. The entire game was out of control due to the replacement refs not having any balls. And it was courtlan finnegan, the dirtiest player in the game. It was the perfect storm and he made a dumb decision. The overreaction by retarded skins fans, the death threats, the ridiculously stupid thread, i am 100% rooting for Morgan now. and i'm hoping the OP actually does stop being a redskins fan and everyone who sent Morgan nasty messages or death threats does the same. They make the rest of us look like blundering idiots and i'd rather they find another team to love. |

Well, I should've said the people who wanted to keep Gaffney instead of Moss. Hell, maybe we can cut Morgan and get Gaffney back! :smashfrea |

Re: Release Josh Morgan or else....
Agreed SS. He made a stupid mistake, but the fan-base has a case of butt hurt the likes of which I haven't seen in a long time.
Every time Morris goes off on a big run, you almost always can point to our WRs doing a damn solid job. |
Re: Release Josh Morgan or else....
Ok, wrong thread for this, bu Pierre Garcon was limited again today in practice. Thursday Sept 20 according to Chris Russell on twitter. Doesn't sound like he will play again this week. What's up with that when after the game against the Saints he said he would be fine?
|
Re: Release Josh Morgan or else....
The most disconcerting thing about that is that no one has really told us what's going on with him. I don't mind if he's out another week, but if he doesn't play next week, that's a fairly serious injury.
|

I thought it was a bruised foot? Come on really? A bruised foot you are over with in a week I would think.

It is being described as turf toe but not the toe whatever the hell that means.

It's simple. It's like a broken arm but it is not broken nor is it an arm. What's unclear about that? :) |

Didn't somebody post about Garcon's injury from personal experience, saying it's something that can take forever to heal? I mean, foot injuries (excluding toe injuries) usually take a long time anyway. Wonder if this is a pre-existing condition for Garcon? |

Lisfranc. Thats what i heard but couldnt remember. Only the redskins! It happened on the 88 yd score. Si while we were all celebrating and going "finally"! And sitting there watching rg3 on his butt pointing to the sky ( collectively the greatest peak moment as redskins fans in recent history) what we didnt know was that garcon was actually hurt, the saints actually stink, and we were going to lose to the rams the following week in a way none of us could imagine. Which brings us full circle back to this thread about morgan. Jeez. Only the redskins. |
Re: Release Josh Morgan or else....
Morgan is a good player who lost it for a moment in a game filled with late hits and dirty play while the refs stood around with their thumbs up their rearends. Smart...no. But it obviously became an emotional game and he made a mistake.
|
It is being described as turf toe but not the toe whatever the hell that means.
IMO, it means it's serious. Would rather rest Garcon this weekend if it helps heal.

It really got me thinking about about Landry said. Or was it Arrington, or Coles, or Brown, and now Garcon?
"That’s why they have great doctors and they have okay doctors, great trainers and okay trainers,” Landry said. “(The Redskins) had people who just had the job title, but not the passion for their job. . . . I don’t respect the training staff at all." Landry is the Jets' HIT machine - New York Daily News |

Their pride was hurt and were looking at anyone to blame but themselves, so I take anything they said with a grain of salt. Lavar still promotes his sour grapes message on the air everyday. As far as I'm aware, I don't think Garcon has had anything negative to say about the training staff. |
Coles sucked, Lavar was good not great and Landry never stayed healthy anyway so whatever
|
Re: Release Josh Morgan or else....
Sure. I just hope this doesn't turn out to be a similiar situation because of poor trainers. Made me think of building a franchise in Madden when you decide how much much you invest into your training staff and how it directly affects the frequency of injuries and recovery from them. Is that part of the video game not reality? I'm not taking sides here. There is some truth. I wonder if there are other players/former players who've blamed a particular team for mistreatment of injuries by a certain team. Give me an example please. I sure as hell knew I wasn't getting the best treatment from my former doctor. Maybe the training staff works at DC General when they're not at Redskins Park. Is that any of you guys' first choice of hospitalization? :-D
|
my understanding was that our training crew had. een heavily improved when BA and MS took over. I do believe that the 2000-2010 training staff was less then up to nfl standards. as Matty said. injuries happen.
