The thing with LaRon is that I'm pretty sure he and the coaches didn't like each other. (Atleast I read that somewhere on here)

Re: 2013 Free Agents

I wouldn't bring back Landry -- I still think his health isn't enough of a certainty, and he had the habit of going for the knockout punch instead of the sure tackle -- kind of the strong safety equivalent of Hall. But I think we definitely need someone more physical in the safety position, and some better speed at free safety. Merriweather brings both, but we likely need an addition at strong safety. Who the heck knows what will happen with T. Jackson.

I also think considering moving Hall to safety (where coverage is a bit easier) isn't a bad idea. He apparently said he knows he has a big cap number and would re-structure to stay. And I thought he stepped up pretty well during the latter part of the season. Plus, we cannot fix everything in the secondary in the off season. It will be interesting to see if Bernstine can return healthy -- we never really got a good look at the rook.

For offseason stuff, modest moves in the secondary, some more O-line depth (we cannot assume that we'd be able to keep that line as healthy as we did this year -- it was pretty amazing how well that came together), and perhaps some more RB depth (unless we're sure that Helu can come back healthy and stay that way) would seem to make sense.

Swearinger, what a great name.

Safety in Round 3 is great but a WR in round 5 and no offensive line until Round 6? Also, no CB is an issue unless we're going through FA.

I can understand a late WR pick because our guys did drop way balls this year.

CB is an issue because we have 1 incredibly overpaid CB who we presume will be cut because of no cap hit and another CB in the last year of his deal. Both are the only vets under contract and both are starters. Drafting one and acquiring in FA would be ideal.

The article has us taking CB David Amerson in the second round. How is that not taking a CB?

I feel that the first thing we need to do in FA is to re-sign our own Fred Davis and Rob Jackson.

After that, I'd like to see the Skins try to address FS, the pass rush, 3rd Down RB, and KR/PR.

I think the following players could help us:

1. Jarius Byrd, FS - He would provide a big upgrade as our starting FS.
2. Osi Umeniyora, DE - We could use him as a pass rushing specialist.
3. Josh Cribbs, KR/WR/RB - Explosive player. Instant upgrade to KR/PR. Also could use him as a backup WR or on 3rd down out of the backfield.

Cribbs is a bit intriguing. He can be an explosive player, but he'll be 30 once the season begins. Will he still have his explosiveness? Cribbs and Crawford would make a good KR/PR combination and he'd be good to have in the backfield on those weird pistol formations. At receiving, he'd be an upgrade to Banks, but I am wondering if we are crowding the WR position.

I would say no to Osi, although I am sure he'd play hard against the G-men. Byrd would be great, but he's going to be the #1 FA this offseason, if the Bills let him get away.

Cribbs is a receiver, but he's been used out of the backfield a lot in his career, similar to how Green Bay uses Randall Cobb.

Exactly. Osi would demand money probably a little less than what Babin got anyway. That entire dline for the giants played poorly this past season. Some good explosive players will be available when the Redskins pick. Crawford has done well returning kicks.

Let me start out by saying that domestic violence is deplorable and thats what actually happened here. Chris Reiney deserves whatever punishment he gets. I'm guessing she probably took his cell phone so she could go through it because she had suspicions he was cheating or something. She was being "crazy" and he responded like a true scumbag.

But I started thinking about this from a "layman legal" perspective. She stole his cell phone. He used physical force in an effort to get reclaim his illegally stolen property during the theft.

If a random stranger stole your cell phone, wouldnt you be allowed to use some degree of physical force to retrieve your personal property? So why should you not be able to use physical force if someone you know steals your personal property during the theft. They werent married, so its not like it could be viewed as "shared property." Would it make a difference, from a legal perspective, whether you use force to PREVENT someone from taking something WHILE IN YOUR HOME vs. TAKING IT BACK WHILE LEAVING THE HOME. Would it make a difference if it was a brother or friend as opposed to a boyfriend/girlfriend?

Again, in no way am i trying to justify the actions of a repeat domestic abuser. As a practicical matter, the guys a scumbag and we all know it. But from a legal perspective, couldnt it be argued that he was within his rights to use force to reclaim the property as she was in the act of committing a crime?

I'm identifying FS as a need. Meriweather is a SS and I think he just might make a strong comeback next season. Bernstine has proven nothing. We still need a top veteran FS, IMHO.

You are overrating our pass rush, even after we get Rak and Carriker back. If not Osi, we still need someone who can help us produce a better pass rush.

I think alot of posters pooped on osi, and excuse me if my humble opinions come across as fecal matter on your computer screen. Lol.
Im not overrating our pass rush at all. I simply pointed out that it seemed to be getting better and upgrades in the secondary plus a couple of starters in the front seven coming back should help it. Notice i did not say "our pass rush will be a dominant force in the universe as it was this year. "
As for Bernstine - of course he hasnt proven anything - he hasnt played. That being said im not ready to count him out.
As for Helu, wasnt he fairly healthy the year before last. Im not denying he isnt the "work horse" back that Almo is, but i certainly think he could be a solid 3rd down back. Especially with his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield.
We were the number one rushing team in the nfl, and secondary and RT are our two biggest needs. So if you would like to give me gifts than give me a cb, a RT and a FS. :)
