I have heard Paulsen is a great blocker and I have never saw him drop a pass. He always catches the ball and has great size. I think with Paulsen in the game we won't see a drop off. I like him being in the game. |

Frikkin Lunch Pail Logan is the man!!! He's a big dude too...should make a great endzone target for RG3.
Don't get me wrong though, I still hope Cooley comes snarling back and plays several more years with us. |
Snarling back.......awesome.

Cooley isn't all that old in the grand scheme of things. Question is can his body hold up and is he doing all that he has to do at his age to prolong his career. We shall see. He has his second shot. I hope he takes advantage of it.

I've been thinking it all season but one game this year he's going to break out and make a few huge plays. Maybe I'm just wishful thinking here idk |

Even if he does will it be like a one hit wonder? just dont ever see the guy consistently catching the ball for us. special teams and third string TE im more than happy with. He could be a solid role player I guess. Oh and never run an option with him. Ever. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Hard to see anything coming together with Paul anytime soon. Morgan on the other hand is very likely to have a monster game, or two. He's got all the physical ability IMO and good hands overall. Those types can have huge games, but not consistently. I kind of expect the same with Garcon, whenever he gets healthy. Lack of consistency was always an issue for him in Indy, so it shouldn't surprise anyone here. Neither of those guys is anywhere near the WR Moss still is today, and in fact I suspect Moss could and likely will outplay them both for another couple years. It's kinda crappy Moss isn't getting targeted more, as in a lot. He's never had a QB anywhere near RG3's talent and yet produced near-elite seasons. |
Re: Fred Davis Done for Season. Welcome Back Cooley
Moss just said, yesterday I believe, that he likes his new role in the slot with limited touches because it keeps him fresh and can help him and the team down the stretch

Right, because it's impossible to think he'd want more touches, more yards, more touchdowns  Moss has been a team 1st guy for as long as I can remember. His comments support the team, as in Mike's/Kyle's decision to limit the most talented receiver on the roster to get "their" guys more work. |

Moss is definitely saying what a team player would say , but i think there is something to the fact that he knows he is at the end of his career and doesnt have the legs under him to be a full go game in and game out. I think if Moss thought he was feeling "young" he would let it be known he could contribute more. But yes what he said is definitely a generic response in the team first mold. I always knew Cooley could still play. Under the Shanahan regime though he hasn't been the exact same player that he was under Gibbs and Zorn namely because of injuries. Cooley is just a few years removed from those days but still should be able to contribute on the same level that he did back then. |

I think Cousins is a team first guy as well. But would anyone, as a rookie backup QB, dare to say no to a locker change for someone that is very popular among fans and team mates? I know I wouldnt, not a chance. If I was a vet and saw him say no to a locker change, I would put about 10 rolls of duct tape in his locker with a note asking "Which goalpost?". |

Here is a description of Garcon's injury.

The mistake with Garcon was bringinging him back to early. Worsened the tear. I say go Rocky Bleier style - hack it off and get back out there!

I guess I'm a "win now" sucker at the end of the day, and don't see the smarts in "saving" Tana for later in the season. If you fall way behind with losses what are you saving him for? He's healthy now, and our best downfield threat now that Davis is done for the season. Tana helped himself a lot by losing some pounds and getting into to better shape, all which should help him stay healthier. I'd just do whatever I could to get the ball into his hands, and if he wears down a bit then back off the touches a bit. Garcon should be back after the bye week too. |
Re: Fred Davis Done for Season. Welcome Back Cooley
I hate that bubble screen, but I have never seen anyone run it any better than Santana. When he scored on it last week, I had visions of 2005 when he use to catch that same pass from Brunell. Getting him on the edge with blockers, makes him look like a punter returner, which is what he was when he first came into the league with the Jets. He is an amazing player.

He doesn't bring much to the table in terms of run blocking like Hankerson or Morgan and he's clearly best suited for the slot at this point in his career. |

Matty, you have just hit on something that I find a little predictable with our playcalling. I obviously don't have the stats to prove it, but when Santana is in the game, the Skins are passing. When he is not and Hankerson and Morgan are in, there is a higher chance the Skins are rushing. Hankerson and Morgan are big bodied receivers who can block. Santana, not so much. Like I said, I don't have the stats on this, but try to notice it this week and see if I'm not right. Some might say, well of course we are passing and not running because with Moss we are in a 3WR set. But you can run out of that set as well, but the Skins, don't do that very often. Anyway, just my 2 cents coming off your observations about Hankerson and Morgan. |

In terms of predictability, I suspect the option is getting predictable. NY blew it up what, three or four times? Maybe using the 3 WR set instead of so many option reads would do the offense some good. I realize the stats on offense are still impressive, but frankly, offense lost the NY game as much as defense, and overall the offense has been very unimpressive unless Kyle puts the ball in RG3 hands i.e. RG3 runs pretty often. And now even that isn't fooling the defense most of the time. Regardless, we haven't scored that many points in the last few weeks, and certainly not enough to win given the damage this regime has done to the defense. Edit: I meant to say three out of the four last weeks. The offense was great against the Vikings, although there you go right back to it falling on RG3 running to make it happen. |
Re: Fred Davis Done for Season. Welcome Back Cooley
Moss has been in fewer running plays as the season's progressed. But he has been in some.

Still not buying your stance on the offense. Our offense shoot's itself in the foot more than any defense has stopped it, and I include the few bone head moments from KS in that. |

I think we agree the offense has ridiculous potential, and has shown (many) flashes of it. Maybe you mean lack of consistency when you say shooting itself in the foot. I feel the same, but I lay (significantly) more of the "blame" on our play-calling and play-design than execution and/or talent. I acknowledge the offense is less predictable than it was before the RG3 era, but I still see many plays that are obviously read by the defense before the ball is snapped. What surprised me in the NY game was how early the defense picked up Kyle's thinking, and yet we continued to see the option, which should have resulted in more than 4 turnovers btw but we got lucky. And when we haven't relied heavily on the option the offense is pretty pedestrian. I think that speaks volumes about the play-calling/play-design when you consider that we're rocking the most accurate passer in the league, have a fantastic running game, and have more than sufficient talent among our pass-catchers (even with Davis and Garcon out). |
Re: Fred Davis Done for Season. Welcome Back Cooley
^^
Translation: Indeed, I believe wholeheartedly RG3 is saving both the Shanahans' asses from total failure with the Redskins. I still don't really know whether to take the Mike and/or Kyle apologists serious. Like, I suspect people do it because they liked Mike from his Denver days, or have a personal liking for them somehow, or just want to f*ck with me. And those are good reasons. But when you have a regime that's done as much damage to one side of the ball (defense) as it has to the other side (offense), and the offense didn't get any better until arguably the most dynamic talent pro football has ever seen arrived (and then play-calling/play-design is still an issue)...well, I just don't get the love. But whatevs, we've all seen stranger things. |

However, that might be seen as to lawyerly and, since we're not in a court room, I'll just go with this: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WrjwaqZfjIY&feature=player_embedded]]Dr Cox - Wrong Wrong Wrong Wrong - YouTube[/ame] |

Your insistent, relentless and often irrational criticism is not the bar from which to judge other's "love" for the Shanahan regime. If it were, complimenting Kyle for hitting the urinal when he takes a piss would make one an "apologist". I didn't mean to start another debate about the Shanahans or anything along those lines. Been trying to leave that alone as best I can resist lol and let the results (I go by wins and losses, btw) speak for themselves. Aight...that's it and that's all man. |
