Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013 Part II
Wouldn't it be fair to say that our lack of good safety play for the past few years has exposed Hall's weaknesses? I feel like a corner can only gamble effectively if he has help behind him.
For example, if Hall played with Sean Taylor (or Ed Reed) behind him, perhaps he would be more who he thinks he is.
I said that all of last season. When Hall is getting beat...really, how many of these would be TDs with ANY capable safety help behind him? We were playing guys like Pugh and Bernstein by the end of the year...who would be practice squad guys on most teams. Madieu Williams was toasted far more than anyone on the team. If Meriweather and Jackson were starting all season, we might have been fine, but when our projected starters were basically on the shelf for every single game of the year...the talent level is very low. Williams, Gomes and Doughty were starters most of the season...that's not good. Imagine this scenario in another position...at WR it would be like playing without Garcon and Moss all year...starting Morgan and who..Hankerson/Banks/Robinson all year. What if our best two CBs were out...Hall and Wilson...we would have been starting Cedric Griffin and who, Crawford all year? No position can survive when your top two starters never see the field. unfortunately, when it happens at the safety position, it's going to be exploited for a lot of big TDs by opponents and it hurts the entire defense. I've maintained that if we sure up the safety position with REAL talent, not band-aids, Hall and Wilson would be a great CB tandem. Wilson and Antoine Winfield could look great with good safeties behind them. I hope we use our first couple of draft picks on safeties. That's the most urgent need on the team. If by some miracle we can grab Matt Elam or Phillip Thomas in the 2nd...huge. I hope Tyronn Matthieu is there for us in Round 4. If we could get him and D.J. Swearinger in the 3rd...great draft. My dream draft, get two of those four guys...sign Winfield AND Hall...to move Hall to FS or keep for nickel duty. We can't count on Meriweather being on the field but if he is...HUGE bonus. Play the better of the two rookies in camp at SS, Hall at FS. if Meriweather is healthy, start him and use Hall as the 3rd CB. Suddenly, the secondary is solid. |

The lady elephant would be a beast. She would change the game. Unstoppable. Sometimes she would score points for us, others safties, and other times she would trample the crowd

He doesnt seem to have that mentality to play there and with a competent FS he is a good corner which is where he belongs. I would love that draft. |

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013 Part II
Alvin Walton isnt dead and I doubt I've ever mentioned his name in this forum.
I do know of a lot of dead monkeys and I dont pine for them either. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013 Part II
there was a long and heated discussion before about the whole 'missing ST' thing... points were clearly made so no need to bring it back up and re hash it, theres two sides to the argument and in this case no one on either will budge an inch. let us continue to pay our respects in whatever fashion we'd like and move about your business.

I don't know if they will ever allow that number to be used again. If they do it will be a few (10+) before they do. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013 Part II
There are a few numbers that should never be used again. #21 is one of them along with 9, 44, 28, 33(not sure if officially retired) 81 and probably a few more that I didn't mention

Yeah but there's 99 numbers to chose from and with positions being required to wear certain ranges of numbers there comes a point where you say we can't retire a lot of numbers |

Its the off-season! The Redskins aren't making any important signings! Everyone take thinly veiled jabs at each other because we have nothing better to do!

I will watch PTI from time to time. They can be entertaining at times, but I think they made a mountain out of a mole hill with the stance they took on RGIII's 'tweet?' Was waiting for the pig to run by and say C'mon Man! I think RGIII recognizes that he was probably more culpable than anyone else with regard to reinjuring his knee. By no means do I think he was taking any sort of shot at Shanny or anyone else for that matter. |

It frustrates me as a fan, but in the media that is what they do now. Take things people communicate to them and read into it to a point of making the communicator out to be a villian or using the media to voice a frustration to sell air time and get ratings. You would think that people who have actually had the opportunity to meet and speak with III would have a better understanding of what the kid is all about and his character. Does III really need to air his dirty laundry out in the media? NO he has the ear of everyone in the FO of the organization. From the GM, to the owner, the head coach, his coordinator, and his position coach he can speak to anyone with out a problem and voice any concerns he may have. BUT NO, he sends a tweet to Wingo to give him a little info and some misconstrue it to fit their needs and get ratings. The only question I have now for anyone is to the III and how he feels about ESPN's handling of his communication. |

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013 Part II
Anyone with half a clue would know there is no way RGIII would take a shot at his coaches or doctors via a text message. Just ridiculous.
I thought it was pretty clear from his text that he took responsibility for himself, and basically said everyone else involved knows their responsibility as well. How is that a shot at anyone? It's really a shame that people are twisting his words. Especially people that know better. |

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013 Part II
I think the Redskins should bring in Eric Winston for a visit. The market has cooled on him and maybe they can swing a deal for a perfect fit. You can carry all 4 tackles through camp then cut 2 before the start of the season.
