Didnt Rambo, Thomas and Amerson all get visits? Because we are limited with visits, I think it does show priority, imo. |

I doubt the Redskins will spend $20 million a year for OLBs The Redskins showed no interest in Jordan Reed last year, so visits are not the sole indication of who they are interested in. Pre-draft visits etc.. are like a poker game, and no one wants to show their hand. |

I think Gruden gets another TE becuase 1) Reed health is a question mark and 2) Gruden uses more 2 TE sets more than anyone
You nailed it. I would add that in Cincy, he could not get enough WR and TE talent. They already had Gresham but still drafted Eifert high; they already had AJ Green when they drafted Jones and Sanu. I think that as long as Gruden is our coach, we will be aggressive in acquiring pass catchers. |
Re: 2014 draft prospects Early edition
No idea. Total guess
I would put serious odds on us trading down at least once in the 2nd round. I think several teams might want to get ahead of the Rams as they could go take nearly any position. |

I see Morgan Moses name creeping into the first round now. |
Re: 2014 draft prospects Early edition
Gurden was able to go after Eifert b/c he already had an OL. I really hope he doesn't take a page out of the Chip Kelly book and stubbornly focus on one thing. We need the first pick to be OL or Secondary. Gurden's got pleanty of toys for yr 1, don't need to waste an early pick on another one.

With the 34th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Washington Redskins select: Jace Amaro, TE, Texas Tech
With the 42nd pick in the 2014 NFL Draft the Washington Redskins select: Antonio Richardson OT, Tennessee Feel free to swap Amaro with Serafin-Jenkins |

Re: 2014 draft prospects Early edition
I still say OT, ILB and S are the most pressing needs, not convinced with any of the ILB's signed (they are more like ST players than starting caliber).
|
Rt, S, CB. Need to nail all three of these in the draft. Eff taking a TE. Run your two te set with Paulsen and Reed. We need more pressing picks than a backup in case Reed gets hurt again.

That is the speculation after getting compensation for Cousins. My expectation is that we get pick #42, as well as two first rounders -- which we can all agree is a steal for Cousins. |
Re: 2014 draft prospects Early edition
Those Stanford linemen are road graders!
To me Stanford is the new Wisconsin in regards to O-Lineman. However David Yankey's scouting reports puzzle me. From what I can see his only knock is that he's average in pass protection, not even bad, just average. For example heres an excerpt from the Scouts Inc report:
Pass Protection - 3 - Quickness and length make it tough to beat him clean. Strong and absorbs bull rush without giving too much ground. Long enough to protect edge and fill in at tackle. Better fit on inside. Above average effort and adequate balance when mirroring inside but limited athlete that has problems countering double moves and can get exposed if put on an island at tackle. Top-heavy and vulnerable to pull moves.
WalterFootball:
Reliable pass-protector Quick to engage Can handle speed rushers Can handle heavy tackles Anchors well against bull rushers Proper knee bend Good pad level
So why is everyone so quick to have him playing Guard at the next level? Granted he doesn't sound like a premier left tackle prospect but it does sound like he'd be a great fit at Right Tackle for any team that takes him.
Not to sound like my cousin you know who but I kind of hope they come away with a viable TE. Not that I don't like Jordan Reed, on the contrary, but I do have concerns about his durability going forward. Hopefully the first year bumps are just him adjusting to the more physical nature of the NFL particularly having to adjust to a 16 game season. Plus I think TE is my favorite position in all of football. I'm the type of guy that would rather have Tony Gonzalez and Antonio Gates in their prime above even Megatron and Randy Moss.

I think one of our 2nd round picks will be TE too
Hmmmmmmm, I'm conflicted lol. Honestly though if the front office really was intent on getting a TE I would prefer a mid to late round guy like Jacob Pedersen. |

Yeah, that cant be right. I just came across an article saying that the Browns had made a trade offer for Cousins that was rejected, I have no idea if that is accurate or not, but if it is, clearly we are not getting good enough offers for him right now to justify a trade. Come draft day though, it might be a different story. "The Browns have looked into deals for both Ryan Mallett and Kirk Cousins, both of which have been denied." FWIW in regards to Antonio "Tiny" Richardson (T Tenn) I read this in USA Today
"Richardson had problems with speed rushers, but he is massive and could have the strongest upper body of tackle prospects."
However as of right now I'm starting to think we'd be better off trying to trade late into the first to secure Morgan Moses. If Cyrus Kouandjio had a clean bill of health then I'd more content to let the chips fall but the last thing we need at this point is more guys who can't stay healthy. |

I was very much hoping so, but it seemed so damn serious and the sarcasm meter was not low it was completely turned off? Edit: because the 42nd pick thing is a possibility. Re: 2014 draft prospects Early edition
I would look at getting a QB if I was Stl.
I don't think I would go after manziel, and they would have a problem trAding qb making 17mil coming off an acl injury. |
Re: 2014 draft prospects Early edition
Really?
Yeah, if this was last years draft than maybe I could understand the appeal but Bradford showed more than enough last year talent wise to establish that its way too early to give up on him. Had it not been for the injury we could have been talking about the first Rams Pro Bowler at QB since Bulger in 2006. Of course he could have taken a nose dive a la 2008 Jason Campbell but I think the consensus on Bradford at this point is that he's for real. So long as he stays healthy he'll earn his keep. Regardless I don't think Manziel is the can't miss type of prospect where you introduce an updated version of Rivers vs Brees (who sucked in 2003). Worse comes to worse they can hope for the best among Kevin Hogan (Stanford), Bryce Petty (Baylor), and Conner Cook (Michigan State) in next years draft should Bradford ultimately prove to be a bust. Besides its not like the Rams options at QB going into this year are John Beck and Rex Grossman. |
