From a alert I got from ESPN, the deal could reach 10 mil, it is not a 10 mil dollar contract without Paul hitting some career milestones. Sounds like it is a good deal and if the player reaches thouse incentives then we have gotten alot out of him and he is worth it.
Yeah those details are key for me. If it takes incentives to get up to $10M then I'm good. |
Re: Who should we go for in Free Agency?
Glad Paul is back. Good insurance policy.
|
Re: Who should we go for in Free Agency?
I'm fine with Paul coming back. But I think they probably need to get a more traditional TE that can block, and one that has better receiving skills than Paulsen.

Forsett mileage is low for his age. Would we look at trading Alfmo? or is Alfmo the change of pace back, a more 1 cut, power runner? |
Re: Who should we go for in Free Agency?
Is Anthony Fasano a good blocking TE? I would look at him.

Re: Who should we go for in Free Agency?
Maybe Forsett will be our new Helu. Twice in his career Forsett has caught more than 40 balls.

We can but I would think Alfmo trade value would be at its highest with his low contract number and decent production. Im an Alfmo fan for sure. |

And how does it make sense to trade Morris? Just because we sign one guy doesn't mean we trade away another from the same position. |

when are we giving him the extension? Thats what doesnt make sense to me where's the commitment? |
Re: Who should we go for in Free Agency?
We gotta keep Morris! Would hate to see him go somewhere else! That said, I'm glad Niles Paul is coming back. I've kind of had a love/hate relationship with his play, but he kept improving as the season went on, and took some nasty hits and held onto the ball. I think he really came into his own last year. The big question is, what's going to happen with Jordan Reed?

Any news on how Tyvon Branch's visit?

Rather have Helu back then. Especially at the price difference. I'd rather see us draft another guy in the mid rounds then go after Forsett or another big-name back. |
Re: Who should we go for in Free Agency?
Some rumors have linked us to Doug Free but the Cowboys locked him up, 3 yr / $15 mil.
Maybe the plot thickens on our signing Parnell. Doug Free, Dallas Cowboys agree to 3-year deal - ESPN Dallas |

Helu needs to go, he's an extremely poor blocker in the backfield and for his role on this team it's pivotal he does this well. Maybe somewhere else would be a better fit. I'm hearing we will take a look at cj spiller as well. Interesting to hear so many rumors at the rb position |

I know Spiller can't block. I'd rather not pay for Forsett's career year which was far more productive than any of his other years and Spiller is an injury waiting to happen. Also, trading Alfmo makes no sense to me. Other than those things, I agree with you completely. |
Re: Who should we go for in Free Agency?
Looks like Free is signed, Newton is signed. If we want a FA RT, I guess Parnell is still there. Just worrisome that Dallas signed Free at 31 yrs to a multiyear deal rather than the younger Parnell..

But it may mean nothing more than Jerruh is "all in" to win it this year, in which case he might prefer the known rather than unknown quantity, even though the younger player otherwise would be preferable. |

This guy is not a great run blocker but he is very dependable in pass protection. He is only 25 years old and I think he could solve our RT problem for years to come. I would love to see him in B&G. |

Re: Who should we go for in Free Agency?
Interesting. I like many of the names on that list. Young folks with some talent. Still pulling for Danny Shelton in the draft, so kinda hope we don't get Paea. Wouldn't cry if we did. Hopefully we'll look into Bulaga/Parnell for our RT spot. Love the idea of Tyvon Branch. He's 28 years old and has been a tackling machine for the Raiders. It'd be nice to have a safety that makes a tackle or two.

Bulaga is probably out of our price range. Anybody heard any numbers on what kind of contract Parnell would command? |

Re: Who should we go for in Free Agency?
I'd really like to see the OL "fixed" by adding a RT and a G or C in FA. I said G or C because if were added a C, then Kory could move back to G. I'd prefer the FA route for the OL because rookies take time to develop and I think we need to improve our OL in order to get a clear evaluation of our QB's this season.
With a little more time for them to throw, we could better evaluate what we have at QB. For one thing, Gruden could tell RGIII to STFU about protection and go out and play. I think it is important to find out this season if either Robert or Kirk is a keeper. Another benefit would be the ability to focus primarily on upgrading our defense in the draft. |
Re: Who should we go for in Free Agency?
I would love to see Iupati, Wisniewski, and Bulaga. Fairley, Pea, and Branch on the defensive line
|
Re: Who should we go for in Free Agency?
Kory is much better at center than guard, and with us going to more of a power scheme, his play at guard would be even worse than it was a year ago.

I am pulling for Shelton, If they are going to build a 3-4 type of defense he could be an anchor for years to come. He's as close to Ngota as anyone, if not as good. The Bears are looking at him at pick 7. Why take the bait and get the guy that they are letting go to give the spot to Shelton, when the Skins can get him with the 5th pick? |

Think we may target Taylor Mays? I'm not his biggestbfan but he would be great depth... Sadly hes going cost more than "depth"
