Does anybody know if you a QB can increase their accuracy?

Re: Redskins v. Jets Gameday Thread

I think you can Omaha. There are changes to throws, foot placement etc and those little changes add up to big changes. British cyclists applied these aggregate changes to have one of the most successful 365 days in the history of cycling including tour de france winner and Olympic gold medals.

A Shanny, Cooley, and Gruden would make you think Kirk can do it. It's time for SM to be looking for the next head coach and qb. And a leader, let Gruden and whomever he wants to qb play out the season. I said before the season this will crack as a coach b/c of the leadership issues. Just wait, the rumors and comments will start very soon around Redskins park.

What is Gruden suppose to do? He can't wave a majic wan and get all his players healthy. We are short on talent with everyone healthy. When players start going down like flies it's going to hurt us more. We were competitive for a good part of the game. We all need to remember that this is still a rebuild. The team sucks because of moves that were made BEFORE Gruden got here. We need to stay the course, hopefully get some guys back and win a few games, starting next week.

ANY Chance whatsoever that MCoy starts? Do they wait until the skins are mathematically eliminated, which could be a while in the weak NFC east? Or does Cousins get the whole entire year no matter what? With the division, it might not be until 8 losses that we are mathematically out...Which still means there is hope if KC can limit the INT's(they will probably always be there) to 1 per game, and the running game returns and steps up.....

What's the big? Like 14 starters down in total?
Come on Jay!!

Seriously....rebuild....determine who is workable and who is not......
Evaluate.....what our priorities will be next off season
Painful, yes! But has to be done

I don't about you guys, but I'm not ready to throw in the towel. When we get our injured players back, we will be a "much" better team with depth.

I think what was the most frustrating to watch today was to witness the Jets run about as vanilla a offense as we did, if not even more, anchored by Fitspatrick yet they marched up and down the field in the 2nd half like it was nothing, seeming to run the same 2-3 plays over and over. All they kept doing was running routes and sitting down in soft spots of the zone for easy receptions and out defense never adjusted to try and take anything away.

The forced turnovers were nice and much appreciated on the effort-scale of things, but as far as yardage, the defense was just pathetic.

How many times did they run that same slant route and it went for 8-12 every single time. Never thought once to bring the corner up and create contact at the line to throw off timing. Little things like that.

Absolutely frustrating.

McCoy played 4-5 games last season before he was injured. He had an 96.4 QB rating through four games. The only weakness McCoy has is a lack of arm strength... McCoy knows how to read the defense, extend plays, and make far better decisions than Cousins.....

I think you would have to ask what would be the purpose of starting McCoy? Is it to win a weak division? Undermine a young QB that has developmental potential? If McCoy was a viable option over Cousins to the point he was head and heels better I think he would be starting.

So Cousins is a developmental quarterback? Gruden benched him last season for making the same reckless decisions....you start McCoy simply because he gives the offense a better chance to succeed as he showed last year .....

You have seen enough of these QB's to know they will be better than KC?

Mariota has played 5 games.

Bortles and Carr have played less than two years.

I have no issues with you preferring Tannehull over KC. I would not make the trade. I see him as a wash. Plus i would not want the 6 year, $96 million extension, with $21.5 million guaranteed contract.

KC played a bad game behind an offensive line that had a collective 17 starts between all five of them. His top receiver is out, he is on the 4th string TE, has a rookie for slot receiver and your 3rd down back leaves the game in the first quarter.

I did not see the game, but the highlight of Brandon Marshalls catch was incredible. It was bad throw that turned into a long TD.

I think that is a fair enough argument but I think last year was a chance for Scot and Jay to evaluate both personnel and staff. But if McCoy gives them the best to succeed why isn't he starting? Do you think Jay has an agenda against him? Can't coach both?

I am not trying to blame the o-line for KCs bad plays. I am trying to point out that they are missing a lot of talent around him. (I count 9 starters plus ST talent).

Would the running game have been better with the starting o-line? Maybe/maybe not. If the running game was better, would the play action pass be better, maybe/maybe not. You can't put 8 or 9 in the box when Djax is on the field because he demands help from the safety. However, The Jets have an incredible secondary. Revis may have been able to cover Djax.

I see no value in McCoy or RG3 starting. I believe you ride this year out and see what you have with KC. If he doesn't perform you have a top 5 draft pick. If he performs and they are an 8 - 8 team, you have something to build on. I see a difference between this years team, and the last two years. They have been in all but two games.

Ive been a big Gruden defender but the third quarter beat downs are becoming hard to ignore. We are either losing or almost losing every single game in the third quarter. That is 100 % a coaching thing. This has nothing to do with the injuries.

That was a team loss, other than the place kicker, everyone could have played better. Bad throws, dropped balls, poor blocking, poor tackling, blown coverages, etc, etc. Since it was another game where the Redskins
fall apart in the second half we can throw in poor coaching. Constantly getting lit up in the 3rd quarter means the coaches on the other side are
outsmarting you on the halftime adjustments.

IDK..not letting Gruden off the hook completely, in the end he's judged by his record. Just seems more like a talent issue.

Been talked about since Callahan been hired.

Folks, this getting "out coached in the second half" thing didn't suddenly happen, it's been a symptom of the Jay gruden era since day one.

No purpose to Colt starting he would be 3rd string on most teams. Any time he has started a succession of games in his career he has gotten progressively worse. It is pretty simple, it doesn't take long for defensive coordinators to figure out what limitations he will have in whatever offense he is running. Look him up on profootball reference. By the time he gets his
4th straight start he will be lucky to throw for 100 yards.

Re: Redskins v. Jets Gameday Thread

I really am trying to give Kirk the benefit of the doubt. I know we are running a very vanilla offense right now with not a lot of star power at the skill positions.

However, something I have noticed that is probably more frustrating than the INTs, is just how often Kirk is unable to throw to targets in stride, whether it is a 3 yard pass, a 10 yard pass or a heave downfield. Now, I am watching the Pats/Colts right now, and a big number of Brady's passes are actually very similar distance to what Kirk is throwing. The main difference though is Brady is delivering these passes in stride. It is allowing the ball carriers to run, and keep running. They are turning short catches into long gains. And it's not like they have their defenders beat by 5 yards. A lot of these defenders are in decent position for coverage, but it's where the ball is delivered that is making all the difference.

I hear a portion of our fanbase repeat things like "if your fingers can touch the ball, you should be able to catch it" which sure, some of the times the WRs might be able to do better to bring a catch or two in, but you look at the routes they are running, and without those balls being delivered to the right spot, a completion is going to end up being a moot point anyway.

With that said. The question is, why is Cousins doing this so much? It can't be lack of understanding the offense, he often makes the correct read. It can't be that he is rushed, because the O-line is protecting pretty well more times than not. Is it lack of arm strength? Is it bad mechanics? I know people see a QB heave a ball downfield as proof they have good arm strength, but I would say the actual velocity on the ball is more important than how far you can chuck it.

Not to bring up the "other guy" because I am not looking to make this Cousins vs. "other guy" but I remember some of the throws that the other guy made look effortless. It wasn't necessarily the long passes, it was the crossing route patterns that he could deliver on a frozen rope, with zip on the ball to where the WR would run in stride and keep running. When I see Cousins throwing these routes, it is like you are holding your breath every single time that the DB doesn't have time to get a step right in front of the pass and take off the other way.
