The ink hasn't even dried on his new contract yet and RG3 is already saying lame shit. "What happened would break a lot of people." I want to root for him but he makes it difficult by continuing to show himself as a pompous ass. Take some personal responsibility for your own life and actions for crying out loud.

For better or worse he is who we think he is. I will be rooting for him to be a good qb but won't be surprised it it never happens.

Don't be surprised if Hue molds an offense for him like Kyle did. It's obvious that he's still a long ways off from becoming a pocket passer. He likely never will be.

Re: NFL Free Agency 2016
Of course that assumes that KC wanted him. I never heard anything of the sort.

That's the most damning thing here. He has been a free agent for two+ weeks, the only visits he took were the Jets and the Browns.

The Rams have Foles as their best option and they didn't bring Robert in. Elway currently has Sanchez as his best option, and he didn't bring Robert in. The Jets currently have Geno Smith, and aren't willing to go higher than $8M to Fitzpatrick. They kicked the tires on Griffin but didn't bend over backwards to sign him. Houston really needed a QB, and rather than give RG3 a look they figured they'd throw $18M per season at Osweiler who has only played what, 8 games in the NFL?

Teams that really needed a QB aren't interested in him. And Shefter is reporting that Cleveland is still likely to draft a QB with #2 overall.

Most of us understand because we're a fairly knowledgeable board, but Robert really has fallen that far. 2012 is not coming back.

The Browns come to Fed Ex in 2016. I wonder if Griffin even plays. You'd have to say chances are it will be Goff, Wentz, or McCown.
It is not just poor play on the field, it is an ego the size of Texas and a mouth that he continues to talk out of both sides. Even the "QB desperate teams" realize it. The most telling is his working relationship with his last two coaches, dId not end well. That is hard to overlook when grading RGIII.

You KNEW he had a mini-chub just waiting for when he could start making snarky comments. I'm like, dude, was it all you that caused the problems? No, but you WERE part of the problem. This is the stuff that makes it hard for me to root for him.

For me reading these Griffin comments is an eye into how the modern media market can create perception.

Being open (too open for my taste) doesn't make him a bad guy. It does make him an easy mark for the media though. And local media made sport of Robert because of his popularity.

I don't think his comments absolve himself of blame. But if people want to find something to nit pick, it easy when a person doesn't give canned answers.

While I get the "media can create perception," there is truth in the old adage "where there is smoke, there's fire."

Sure, RGIII had things taken out of context. Sure, the media put RGIII sound bites out there for click bait.

At the same time, RGIII said so many "click" worthy things - contextual or not - it just got to the point where I would think to myself "Yes, its not the whole interview and probably meant differently than it came across - but this is the 18th time this week he has done that. At some point, I gotta believe the man knows what he is doing."

He had two weeks to craft his message. He was a communications/marketing major. He knows how to brand himself. And in all his comments I could find, there was no trace of the acknowledgement of self limitations/failings. Simply self aggrandizement, and commitment to future (which when made without reflections are fairly useless). Now, his comments about the team and future might give Browns fans hope, except he made the same pronouncements here, but didn't follow up - because he doesn't seem to acknowledge where his weaknesses are. An example from his statement:
I’m excited about that, and when it comes to what I need to work on, I’m excited to have another opportunity to grow … that’s big, and I just need to go out and prove it.
he gives himself a perfect in right here to make a self reflective statement: and when it comes to what I need to work on, like my drop backs or like pocket presence, I'm excited...

But he doesn't do that, he deflects any thought of his faults and makes it sound like he didn't have an opportunity to grow, this from a guy who was the named starter for the first 3 + years of his career.

I'm actually thankful about the local media coverage of Griffin. It helped me to stop listening, stop following. I definitely noticed a link between media comments and fan slant/discussion on message boards. Too often I heard speculation and opinion passed off as fact and often time heard "reports" that were later refuted on the record by team officials yet the perception of the erroneous 'report' remain.

I was especially turned off by the coverage of Mike Shanahan and the revisionist history applied to his tenure. Another key aspect that turned me off is the insistence that Griffin changed the offense in 2013 and didn't do read option, a fact that they conveniently leave out of their narrative is the fact that Griffin did read option in 2013, in fact he did it a lot.

Anyhow...I slipped up and listened the other day and heard Thom Loverro? getting in his last licks, and having a laugh the whole time.

I'm not going to hold it against the kid that he wasn't self reflectively critical in an introductory press conference. He's not there to render a mea culpa.

I'm sure there is fodder there for those willing to parse through Brock Os's intro presser.

9 year career for a below average QB. i'd be okay with that.

RG3 is pulling the same passive aggressive "i'm a victim" crap. he's had 4 years to learn how to not put his foot in his mouth, yet he can't help himself. please stop apologizing for him. if he doesn't know better by now, it's either because he's an idiot or because he just can't help it.

my opinion isn't from the media it's from the things his said. primary source, so i'm not sure how the media can slant what's coming directly out of his mouth.

If you view them as passive aggressive, that's your choice, there's always more then 1 view and I'm sure there are people that don't agree with your take. But even if his statements are passive aggressive it doesn't make him a bad guy nor warrant the level of vitriol he receives.

I'm not really surprised by what he said, but I am a little surprised that he never learned to have a filter with the media. Maybe he's just decided to be honest with them for better or worse. If he continues being open and honest with them I wouldn't be surprised if Hue gets tired of his act though. As for me, I am just happy he's not our problem anymore.

He can deflect fault from himself all he wants at the microphone but once he steps on the field it will become painfully evident to Browns fans why he is no longer a Redskin.

Griffin = Steamin' Willie Beamen.

For me I pretty much turned on the guy and knew what he was all about once he did that stupid hour long marketing video on his comeback from knee surgery. What a bunch of effing garbage that was. I knew right there that he was kind of a coddled egomaniac.

Hue Jackson seems like a pretty sharp guy but I still can't believe he signed him. Did he look at the tape?? That is not going to work out at all. Jackson is a hard nosed, no nonsense coach who isn't going to tolerate Griffin's BS.

How much different is Jackson's offense going to be from the one he just failed in?

I'm not getting the optimism. Worse offensive line, worse weapons = success?
We will see how much Hue Jackson believes in RG3 during the draft
Even if he feels like RG3 still has unlimited potential, he'd be dumb not to draft a qb with a pick that high and a guaranteed availability of at least 1 top guy. I think they draft a qb, give RG3 every chance to earn the job, and if he earns it and plays well they trade him eventually for a nice bounty while they give the starting job to the elite rookie waiting on the bench. And if RG3 doesn't play well he never sees the light of day and becomes the next plot in the quarterback graveyard that is Cleveland.
