So are people legit fired up about Haskins buying a Bentley is this just some Twitter drama
I personally don't give a shit what he buys. It's his $ and he earned it. What makes it a story is apparently he put it on one his social media pages. We're still in the honeymoon phase but IMO not the smartest thing to do. If you buy a 300k car then good for you, but keep it to yourself. |

It was EB making a big deal out of it. Those guys are borderline Kardashians. |

Yeah but if you were a 21-22 Year old , when you buy a Bentley the natural thing to do is show it off. People are just jealous that he can afford such car. |

Yeah anyone buying a car like that wants everyone to know, part of selling his brand too. |

If he plays to his potential I'll start a GoFundMe page to reimburse him for the car. |

Keim said that he's as mature of a rookie QB that he has seen in DC. Love this pick even more. |

I haven't been to training camp in several years might have to make the drive this year.

I may do the same bro. It's a little further for me but would be cool |
Re: Dwayne Haskins
Good podcast from Keim with Louis Riddick about Haskins. Couple things, Riddick says team should be patient with Haskins BUT the problem is gonna be this preseason when the fans see him throw versus Keenum...its not a comparison, Haskins' arm and the way he deliver the ball to receivers will be better than Case.
Riddick sees the biggest problem with Skins offense is talent on the Receiver....health of Oline to an extent. BUT the skins need someone to step up on the outside and Crowder is a serious loss in the slot....unproven replacement. also...brief sentence about Erik Flowers at OTAs...Keim said not good. Same issues. |

Re: Dwayne Haskins
Jay creative? Prepare yourself to be disappointed.
I would really like to hear an explanation of last year's debacle as detailed in Cooley's series of podcasts.
Jay was a very good offensive mind in Cincy. The notion that he turned into a complete dunce isn't plausible. I haven't heard anything resembling an explanation of the disjointed approach of the running v passing. There has been a a lot of innuendo particularly from Sheehan that Callahan and Jay were an arranged marriage by the Prince of Darkness. Any explanation would satisfy a lot of curiosity. Kevin O'Connell will have a lot of input on the offense this year...he will put his stamp on it.

In other words, the new personnel doesn't explain why the runs don't look like the passes. The team continued to rely on play action into the TN and Philly games without getting any LBs to bite. Disagree? Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
I'll agree there are formation issues that need to be acknowledged. The whole "73% Run plays while Sprinkle is in" or whatever the stat was, is just inexcusable. Regarding the play action late in the season; I can see why they would go that route. We had/have ZERO threats on the outside. Our entire offense practically came down to what AP could give us. As our only legitimate threat (Remember he went 90 yards against the Eagles) it would make sense to try and bait a defense into thinking he was getting the rock. I think you're right and there's a legitimate case to be made that having Callahan call the run plays while Gruden calls pass plays (With O'Connell's input?) just sort of clogs up the play calling. Too many cooks in the kitchen, so to say. |
Re: Dwayne Haskins
What are the chances that the issues brought up here are the reason O'Connell is the OC this year. I am sure the coaching staff is aware if we can spot it from TV.

RG3 was never a great passer, Haskins has that potential but before I go crazy I want to see him prove it in the NFL first

[YT]3fkQ2XQidM0[/YT] This guy is very impressive. He has a great arm, accuracy, and intelligence. He did have a great wr core. However, he also displayed elite passing ability. I think we can start him day one. But I would prefer he sits for a year. |
Re: Dwayne Haskins
he wont sit for a year. even if he doesnt start day one i doubt case or colt will quell Dan with a 3-3 record and average play.
I just dont see it happening. Haskins is likely to see the field this year one way or another. |
Re: Dwayne Haskins
There's little to no evidence that a guy benefits from sitting in today's NFL. Does anyone really think Mahomes wouldn't have lit it up as a rookie?

Baker sat for what? 3 games and came in to light it up. If Keenum plays really well in the Pre season I'm all for him starting day 1, but if Haskins is ready to go , why waste his time? |

I've been saying this all along. Who improves at anything if you're watching? If you're a virgin do you get better at sex by watching You Porn all day?? Dummy down the playbook, give Haskins all the reps and coach him up. If he ends up sucking we'll know at the end of this year. But playing Case just slows everything down. I heard yesterday on one of the media outlets that Keenum is getting most of the 1st team reps. That makes zero sense. The guy is the poster for a journeymen, low tier starter. |

And what good came from sitting Mayfield in order to play Taylor? It was the ego from the coaching staff. Or from Hue Jackson. Taylor is a backup. |
Re: Dwayne Haskins
My thing with Keenum is he's had multiple chances on multiple teams to be a long term starter. In each of those instances the team decided he wasn't good enough to stay on as their starter. Why should he be given another opportunity here? When he was signed it should have been told to him that you're here to backup our rookie qb and spot start if needed.

I think Haskins will be ready by week 1 and he gives us the best chance to win. That is if we have Trent back |
Re: Dwayne Haskins
I don't see Trent giving up $11M to sit out.

I don't have a problem with making Haskins "earn" the job. They don't want to go the RG3 route again and that started by handing him the job from day 1 no questions asked. |
Re: Dwayne Haskins
The only time keeping a rookie qb on the bench is when you know he is going to get demolished by the first few defenses, and that breaks a fragile ego.
I'm not saying Haskins has a fragile ego, but our first 5 games this year are brutal, for that reason alone I would consider sitting him till the mini bye after the Vikings game. Besides I'd like to see Keenum beat the Vikings :) No need to start our rookie qb against all 3 division opponents in his first 4 games, and possibly let them get into his head. Play the Bills, Jets, Lions and Panthers first before meeting the division. |
Re: Dwayne Haskins
This one to me is easy. Have an open competition and let the best player start week 1. You owe the locker room that much. Put the best team on the field each week regardless of draft position or contract. That can go a long way to stabilizing the team (not the franchise).

Depends on the team situation your Rookie Qb is walking into. There is a big difference between the talent rich KC Chiefs offense, with a solid running game, excellent receivers/passing game, great coaching and most importantly a decent line in front to protect and provide time to throw. Depending on the Redskins health/TW situation, Haskins could have a shit line of Eric Flowers and rookies blocking for him. These two situations (KC vs. Skins) are not equal and you might want to protect a rookie QB from being put in a really bad situation. |
Re: Dwayne Haskins
Haskins will either sink or swim. A guy either has it or he doesn't, and most of the time it's obvious fairly early on. The late bloomer types are the exception to the rule. I say play him from day 1.

Same here, on tape he's the real deal. Super smart kid and accurate on all throws. Mahomes sat for 2 reasons : Smith was still good He wasn't as polished of a QB as Haskins is. |

I can name more than a handful of qbs that didn't start right away who went on to have a lot of success. The best course of action is to be patient with this guy. Give him some time to get comfortable with the speed of the game and the playbook. If that happens to be day one then lets put him out there. If not then lets wait until he's ready.

Re: Dwayne Haskins
We will know by end of pre season for sure .. I still say Case is going to be better than a lot of folks think.. Nobody wanted AP and we took a chance and he was very good for us last year! Case could be starter for a while and when Haskins takes over we have solid vet backup!
