Interesting read about Haskins debut. I put it in this thread because of the heavy discussion of Jay Gruden and the perception of him and his offense. Some of us may disagree with the analysis |
Re: How Long Will Jay Gruden Last This Season as Head Coach?
Possible HCs:
Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy .. not sure how much experience he has to be a HC, 1st year as OC Saints TE coach Campbell - HC for a few games as an interim HC w dolphins, Sean Payton disciple |
Re: How Long Will Jay Gruden Last This Season as Head Coach?
Jay is not getting fired because he is Snyders whipping boy much like Garret is Jerruhhs.
Owners like Dan and Jerry are making roster and possibly game plan decisions to some degree. |

I've felt it was a bad thing to get a player or coach from the cowboys. Maybe because I hate the cowboys..... |

Seriously, it's one thing to say, "It's too disruptive to can Jay after 4 games." But Manusky? What do we possibly lose there? Addition by subtraction, folks. Make it happen. I have no doubt -- none -- that any of the defensive assistants (and perhaps a few concession stand workers at FedEx) could do a better job coaching our D.
|
Re: How Long Will Jay Gruden Last This Season as Head Coach?
I’d rather see Bruce Allen fired before Manusky. I think Bruce Allen needs to be the first to go. Put a REAL GM in his place and let him make decisions on the coaching staff.

It is mind numbing how bad someone can be at their job....than get another one and be so bad again....and than get another one and be so bad again and still not lose it. He must give one hell of an interview Ill give him that.... |
Re: How Long Will Jay Gruden Last This Season as Head Coach?
I have a feeling Jay's going to start Colt. He keeps mentioning how he knows the system... major sigh...
|
Re: How Long Will Jay Gruden Last This Season as Head Coach?
Yep. He is dying to get Colt a shot.

He wants to start the QB with the most experience with his system than throw Haskins and get him killed. |

I ain't saying it's the right decision but I can see the logic behind it. Or maybe he just wants to keep Bill B. guessing because we need all the competitive advantage we can get. |

Re: How Long Will Jay Gruden Last This Season as Head Coach?
I can not believe that Manusky is still the DC. If the players hadn't rebelled before now, having the head coach throw the players under the bus for a DC that they know is the problem, guarantees this defense is doomed.

Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
When the 49ers canned Manusky when Harbaugh took over the defense went from 16th to 2nd from one year to the next with pretty much the same players on the field. What does that tell you? |

Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
I wonder if it's because they have no real good backup option to replace him. Everything we hear indicates Manusky/Tomsula is a package deal, if they fire Manusky Tomsula will walk too. So what are your other options? Rob Ryan? or Ray Horton? Maybe they don't trust Horton to do a good job, and obviously Rob Ryan is like the Manusky of position coaches. |
Re: How Long Will Jay Gruden Last This Season as Head Coach?
How the fuck has Jay not been fired yet?? Unreal man, I guess it'll take a 0-16 fucking season

If I'm gonna be honest I was pretty swayed by the "firing Gruden changes nothing this season" argument all the writers are making. But Manusky? Fuck that bitch, I want blood. |

Re: How Long Will Jay Gruden Last This Season as Head Coach?
Gruden isn't going anywhere until after the season. The guys on the staff can't even get their position groups right. And you want them to take over? C'mon. The wheels will really fall off. Just have to stick it out until the season is over and I think Snyder knows that.

Re: How Long Will Jay Gruden Last This Season as Head Coach?
When Gruden goes, it will be bye week or after game 16. They can sack Manusky tomorrow as the D can't get any worse, but they need Gruden to at least try to hold things together until they have time to weigh up their options. If he's lost the locker room, then he has to go in bye week but I can see him lasting out the season. My question is,who do you replace him with in either situation? Do we promote from within to see out the season or is there someone sat at home that can come in and get us going in the right direction?

Callahan taking over as interim HC is my guess. OConnell calls the O plays. Make Ryan or Tomsula the interim D Coord. |

I'm gonna give Haskins a pass. Because…I don't know if Daniel Jones would've looked good in Washington, or anybody, because nobody's coaching there. There's no conditioning, there's no coaching. They're an expansion team."

People forget how amazing our defense played that night too. Bashaud Breeland basically took a prime Dez Bryant completely out of the game |
