He plays guard though right?
IMO guard isn't the issue. Scherff and Martin at G is fine by me. My issue is LT because we have no guarantee that Charles' gonna be NFL ready by September, especially with a shorten offseason. I'd really feel more comfortable if we brought Donald Penn back on a 1 year deal.
Yeah but I heard talk about moving Sheriff to RT. |

Not sure I'm a fan of that option, Scherff seems to excel at Guard. And it wouldn't solve our LT issue. |

I think we give Moses one more crack at it. And if not, I like Lucas there at RT. Leave BS where he is best. Now that Trent is gone, BS is our best OL easily. Re-sign him and let him stay where he is successful. |

I think the pressure will be on Moses THIS TRAINING CAMP and Pre-Season. I don’t think he has a free pass for another whole season! Last year was awful and the year before that wasn’t much better. He had a lot of drive-killing penalties AND he gave up a lot of sacks. I think the Redskins will be looking for any young, talented OT who were cut due to an over abundance of talent at that position on their team or talented but older OT forced out new draft picks. Either way we may get to try new OT, TE or WR who may be better than our draft picks this year or our UDFA AND EVEN better than Moses was last year or in practice this TC & PS. If Moses continues to play poorly he may be replaced Sooner rather than LATER!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I wouldn’t count Reuben Foster out, he was having stem cell treatment of all places, Colombia. Watch this interesting video.

Foster haven't played much in the last 2 years so I'm sure it will take Foster some time to shake off the rust, thus I'm not expecting much from him this year. It would be a big bonus for Redskins if Foster plays well this year. |
Re: Redskins General 2020 NFL Thread
To use baseball jargon, Moses is a true "three outcome" player: illegal procedure, holding and sack.

Re: Redskins General 2020 NFL Thread
Cornelius Lucas - our best bet at starting LT to start the season. I really like what Im reading on him. Not that he is going to be some stud pro bowl LT but he looks like a real good value add.
72.2 PFF grade 2019 - first year he was given a chance to start. Started 8 games for the Bears, played in all 16. ------------------------------------------------ Not only did Lucas play significantly more last season than he had in previous years, but he more than held his own along the Bears' offensive line. Lucas allowed only one sack, per STATS LLC and gave up 12 pressures while incurring zero penalties on 507 snaps. For his efforts, Lucas was named the Bears' most improved player in 2019, according to Pro Football Focus. He finished the year with an overall grade of 72.2, the first time in his career he graded above 65.0. Lucas has never been seen as a full-time starter, but as it stands, he could assume that role for the Redskins in 2020. Lucas started six games at right tackle last season and two at left tackle, and while Morgan Moses seems to have right tackle locked up, the other position remains wide open. https://www.redskins.com/news/redskins-cornelius-lucas-five-things-to-know 2 yr/5.3M deal .. lots to like. Not saying the guy is the answer but perhaps he can stick around, maybe be our starting RT next year once we find our LT anchor. |

He didn't play good for sure, but can we afford not keeping him on the roster ? I'm not sure. Tackle is a position of need no matter how you put it. |

Re: Redskins General 2020 NFL Thread
Now that the draft is over, I'm running out of things to even bother looking up on the internet. My reading breakdown was: 90% sports, 5% news, 5% miscellaneous. I'm over reading the news right now, so I'm out on 95% of my internet usage. I really need to learn to like reading books.
I did go on Amazon Prime and save some sports movies. Might need to watch Friday Night Lights tonight. |
Re: Redskins General 2020 NFL Draft Thread
I’m waiting for Kyle Smith to pick up the “cast offs” during TC but especially late in the PS. Late in the PreSeason other teams will be making the toughest cuts. Some good players will be dropped simply because they have too many average or above average players at a certain position.
For the positions where we are are very thin with players - such as at TE, OT and maybe CB. Especially at TE where the Redskins are VERY thin, with no definitive starters, adding a few oils recastoffs could instantly improve the TE crew. We would have their college tape and more importantly their PS film to evaluate their worth. The best thing is that they will come VERY CHEAP for one year contracts. Very high potential for a low, low cost. The other teams will do all the work and we reap the reward. Our cap limit is very high $21 mill, which will carry over to next year when we sign the best of these new pickups. I am very interested to see how this new strategy works!!
Moses has been getting progressively worse year by year.
Exactly. I hope we can coach up one of the OT players we have now, or pick up a FA dropped by other teams late in the PS. Then start Moses but bring on the new guy with some play time. Game time competition. If Moses pulls his head out of his azz and start s playing well - great. But I think he will continue to go downhill and be replaced sometime season. Too many penalties, too many missed blocks and he even pulled Scherff down with him. We’re going to get someone THIS season to replace Moses Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I’m not throwing the towel in on Moses, bring in competition to challenge him but I still think he has the tools to be a quality RT.

I'm with you, he's been inconsistant but I don't think he's that bad. The penalties need to significantly decrease though. |

I'm completely done with Moses. Check out the video where Alex Smith gets his leg crushed. There is Moses watching JJ Watt hitting Smith after Moses just gave yet another DL a free run at the QB on one of his matador blocks. How many times do we see him unsure of which player to block on a blitz and deciding to block neither of them? He doesn't just pile up false starts. His false starts are at the worst possible times for the team: when we're pinned deep, inside the Red Zone, inside the 5-yard line, moving us outside of field goal position, in the 4th quarter. Also, I don't see the fire in him. He looks like he's working a 9-5 job. If he's going to take a penalty, why doesn't he just tackle the DL who just got by him is about hit our QB? He could at least holler "Fore!", "Ole!", or "Watch out!". |

But I don't think it's fair for us to assume that Moses doesn't have the passion, hence the famous quote - don't judge a book by its cover. Some people don't express themselves openly like some people do. I remember Moses had to play through ankle injuries on both ankles in the 2018 season, in fact, he was the only Oline player to play full 16 games that year. After the season, he had to get an ankle surgery to fix the issues. I find it hard to believe Moses would play through those injuries if he didn't have the passion. Although I'm with you - I think we need to replace Moses when we get an opportunity to find a replacement. |
Re: Redskins General 2020 NFL Thread
We can complain all we want about Moses but he's not going anywhere. Replacing Trent is enough to have on our plate without having to worry about replacing both tackles.
|
Re: Redskins General 2020 NFL Thread
I hope Moses can return to his highest level of play .... like I hope for all Redskins to do.
I don't know that he can. It would seem doubtful. But who knows. He's not that far removed form his best days. Maybe the regime change will help light a fire under his ass that brings out the best from him. Given the current roster, I think the Tackle positions will either be: Lucas - LT Moses - RT OR Charles - LT Lucas - RT Maybe we can convince a FA like Jason Peters to play here for a couple of years. That would certainly be an upgrade. But would also seem to me to take a lot of convincing. Why should an aging vet sign up to play for the Skins??? If Super Bowl contention in the near future is a desire, it would probably make this impossible to pull off. Or maybe we can find someone to pluck from the waiver wire in the pre-season that could improve that position. Gonna be interesting to watch unfold. In my best Captain Obvious voice -- O-Line will be a key in how big a turn around we will have next season. |
