Re: Why Hasn't Anyone Talked About-A Possible Cancellation?
Not sure if anyone else is reporting on it at this time, but it came across my twitter news feed last night that the NFL is expected to formally cancel the entire 2020 season at some point after July 4th.
I think from the moment that we officially went into the pandemic stage, the season was lost. 2021 i would think at this point is 50/50. Maybe this is the end of pro football / NFL for a while, who knows. |
With the current surge of the virus seeing a season happening is going down the tubes unless we get shit in order really quick
My son was supposed to have tryouts for travel soccer this Friday and we decided we are going to forgo fall sports unless things improve. The reliance on "self" testing by the parent is enough for me to realize they aren't taking athlete health seriously and too many parents take U9 soccer far too seriously. There is zero reason a ref or paid health official can't be checking in these kids as they come to tryouts and games. |

I think the season is in real jeopardy. Too many guys are going to get infected. Guys on the PGA Tour and their caddies are getting the virus. How are you going to stop football players from getting it?

And so it officially begins:
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/hall-of-fame-game-canceled-cowboys-steelers-reportedly-called-off-hof-ceremony-postponed/ I would think at some point over the next couple of weeks, the NFL will come out and cancel the season and the playoffs, just like the folks on twitter last night were saying. Probably no football in 2021. |

I know you're trolling me and that's fine, but we should now consider the financial implications for the NFL with things being cancelled. What would the revenue hit be to the NFL for an entire cancelled season? Can the league survive a year without football, or potentially two years if Vaccine efforts fail or are slowed? |
Re: Why Hasn't Anyone Talked About-A Possible Cancellation?
I don't think the HOF game getting canceled means much at all about the regular season. It was to be expected.

Re: Why Hasn't Anyone Talked About-A Possible Cancellation?
NFL is playing folks 100%, people in the stands or not
|
Re: Why Hasn't Anyone Talked About-A Possible Cancellation?
Prepare for the worst and hope for the best. I'm living under the assumption of no season from here on out. And I'll hope to be pleasantly surprised.
Fuck this virus in its fucking face. |

Too much money on the table to not do everything they can to play. Player safety be damned. |

Player safety be damned.
This is exactly why I say it. NFL will get the benefit too of studying other open first. Greed of everyone involved...league, advertisers, vendors, TV, owners and the players. The league tends to barrel ahead...their ego and image of the shield...it’s a powerful identity in the sportworld. It hasn’t been matched |
Re: Why Hasn't Anyone Talked About-A Possible Cancellation?
If the Kentucky Derby is opening the gates to 50k fans without masks we will have football. Whether it is on time or a full season IDK. Even if we don't the league will be fine. There is not a single ownership group that needs the revenue generated from the sports team they own.

The owners crying poor mouth is a joke. IMO these sports will do anything to return, public and players be damned. Unfortunately it will take the death of a player for people to start asking if sports are really this important. |

If two teams have to quarantine the season is shot!

Re: Why Hasn't Anyone Talked About-A Possible Cancellation?
Per Adam Shitfer
The NFL accepted the NFLPA's demand of zero preseason games ahead of the 2020 season. This is a gigantic step towards having the season start on time. The NFL has slowly inched towards the NFLPA's side of this argument, initially requesting two preseason games, then down to one and now agreeing to none. This will allow for a longer acclimation and strength and conditioning period for players once arriving at team facilities, as teams can now take their time to practice rather than prepare for games. Boom...get the fuck back to work |
