Washington Football Team selected Kentucky LB Jamin Davis with the No. 19 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Davis (6’4/234) hits the No. 19 pick shot out of a hype cannon. One of the hottest names in the class, Davis turned in a monster 2020 — quite the year to do so — with 102 tackles and three picks in 10 contests. He boasts insane range and lateral ability paired with ninja-quick reflexes. Davis has just one standout season to fall back on, so there is some bust risk here. Specifically, NFL.com's Lance Zierlein believes Davis needs to "improve his technique in taking on blocks and constricting run lanes." But if the Kentucky ‘backer can build on his gains from this past season, he might just be scratching the surface of his talent.

He has elite defensive coaching and players all around him. This has boom written all over it, not bust.

I don't think he is going to be asked to take on linemen given our DL. Moreso looks like he has the athleticism and ability to take advantage of what our front 4 should be able to do.

Interesting that a lot of OT needy teams have passed on Darrisaw so far up to and including Indy, just proves I know nothing. OT have a history of being overdrafted so he must have some rough edges.

No more tight ends burning us. That was a major problem. He can stop the run, his only weakness is lack of experience but he has all the physical attributes to be coached up for coverage and we have a great defensive staff to do so. He is going to be a stud.

The more I read about Davis, the more I love the pick. If anything we as fans think we know what our team will do, but we really don’t. JOK, and Darrisaw were both there at 19, and the team passed on both.

As a Louisville Cardinal fan and season ticket holder ... it pains me to say that this kid Jamin Davis is really good.

It also pains me to say that the University of Kentucky has produced some pretty good NFL Defenders of late ... Wesley Woodyard, Danny Trevathan, Bud Dupree, Josh Allen ... so hopefully Jamin Davis is next in line.

I think that with our D-line strength, Jamin will have all kinds of chances to blow people up.

I like this pick. I hate his alma mater.

I feel like he drafts as an analyst, not a GM. And he doesn't have the GM history to pull it off.

Our defense is stacked for a good 2 more years. We need to take advantage and actually put up points on offense.

After all is said and done half of this 1st round will be JAGs or even less than half. Scheme and talent around the players mean so much. I think SF took a HUGE gamble trading all that for a QB that’s had less than 300 career snaps. I like Lance but that’s really high for him. Zach Wilson is going to the Jets... unfortunately for him QBs never work out there so the odds are already against him. Fields the same boat with the Bears.

Agreed.. Although just because Lance is under Shanahan, I think he has a better chance of becoming a legit QB. If he is on almost any other teams then I wouldn't feel fully confident about Lance.

So our second pick is looking really good with who is still left on the board. If one of the top tackles doesn't fall to us, I'd love to get a guy named Elijah....either WR Elijah Moore from Mississippi or CB Elijah Molden from Washington.

Only 18 teams ahead of us and we still have a chance at:

1. T Teven Jenkins, Oklahoma State: A thick, physical blocker who can maul defenders in the running game, Jenkins has plug-and-play potential at right tackle.

2. LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, Notre Dame: At 216 pounds, Owusu-Koramoah has the positional flexibility teams are looking for, with the ability to play safety, linebacker or slot cornerback.

3. S Trevon Moehrig, TCU: A free safety who can also cover in the slot, Moehrig is the best safety in the class by a wide margin.

4. DE/OLB Azeez Ojulari, Georgia: He’s a little light at 6-3 and 240 pounds, but he’s an effective pass rusher who plays with great effort.

5. CB Asante Samuel Jr., Florida State: A second-generation NFL cornerback, Samuel overcomes a lock of ideal size with his quickness and knowledge of the game.

6. T Jalen Mayfield, Michigan: He can be overpowered at times and has had some issues with footwork, but he has the size and athleticism to be a starting right tackle.

7. DT Christian Barmore, Alabama: He didn’t have a great workout at his pro day, but he is the best defensive tackle in a mediocre class.

8. LB Nick Bolton, Missouri: He’s a little undersized at 6-0 and 230 pounds, but he has great range and is one of the better blitzing linebackers in the draft.

9. DT Levi Onwuzurike, Washington: A good fit for a 4-3 defense looking for a three-technique defensive tackle, he has a great first step and can be a disruptive interior rusher.

10. WR Elijah Moore, Mississippi: He’s a little undersized and probably projects best as a slot receiver, but he’s a dynamic playmaker who catches the ball well and can be used on jet sweeps.

11. WR Terrace Marshall Jr., LSU: He’s a big target at 6-4 and 200 pounds who can line up outside or in the slot and make big plays. There’s a little bit of DK Metcalf to his game.

12. OLB Joseph Ossai, Texas: At 6-4 and 253 pounds, he’s an ideal fit as an outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense. He’s good at stopping the run and offers some pass-rush ability.

13. RB Javonte Williams, North Carolina: A low-to-the-ground runner at 5-10 and 220 pounds, Williams has good power and balance.

14. DE Carlos Basham Jr., Wake Forest: At 6-3 and 281 pounds, Basham fits well as a big defensive end in a 4-3 scheme.

15. T Dillon Radunz, North Dakota State: He’s an effective pass blocker who helped himself with his pro day. He could play left tackle in the NFL.

16. OL Quinn Meinerz, Wisconsin Whitewater: One of the fastest risers during the draft process, Meinerz brings excellent athletic ability to the guard or center positions.

17. QB Kellen Mond, Texas A&M: He’s lean and had some consistency issues in college, but he has good speed and a strong arm.

18. OL Wyatt Davis, Ohio State: For a team that wants to run, Davis is a great fit at guard. He’s a 6-4, 315-pound road grader who excels in short-yardage situations.

19. QB Kyle Trask, Florida: At 6-5 and 240 pounds, Trask offers good size, pocket presence and accuracy for a team looking for a quarterback outside the first round.

20. CB Elijah Molden, Washington: Molden is undersized with below-average timed speed and length, but his tape playing over the slot is impressive. He has good balance, body control and instincts. He also has tremendous ball skills (four interceptions in 2019)

We saw what Kyle did with RG3. He can flat out scheme up an offense for his guy and probably get more out of him than anyone in the league, no doubt.

Lance has bust written all over him. To me that was the worst pick of the 1st round and the 49ers moved up to get him. WTF are they thinking giving up picks to get a guy who has played one year against weak competition. I would have easily taken Fields over him. How do you take Lance over Fields based off of the tape? How?

It has been a problem since slow ass London Fletcher. This was just what we needed. An athletic LB that has top end speed.

Analysts say Lance has the higher ceiling.

The one thing I never bought into was Mac Jones going #3. No way you trade up to #3 for that guy. NE iss a perfect fit for him though, fell right into their laps.

Athletic linebacker ... I’m all for it. Really thought Darrisaw would be the pick .... we pump sooo much of our draft capital to the defensive side of the ball. Outside of that weird owner Haskins pick ... feels like we go D with all our 1R

Excited to see the young man get out there. Reviews say he’s raw and only started one shortened year so that’s always a concern drafting on potential and bank on a player making major steps

Can't say I love it. I would have preferred getting him a little lower. Even a small trade back would have satisfied me (Of course that could have blown up in our faces with someone else taking him - just saying I'd have been happier getting him later).

Moehrig should be a priority for us - trade up for him

I like Jenkins too but I'd hope they'd try him at left tackle (Yeah he has more experience at right). If they don't see him being able to fill that roll I'd prioritize Koramoah over him.

No defensive linemen should be taken - trade down before doing that.

10 games and a bowl game -- a shortened season by two games.

And 102 total tackles in that season - almost 10 a game is pretty strong.

I’m not knocking the guy, I’m excited for him and trust our FO but it’s fair to say he’s probably started the least games in college of any player selected in the first round ... maybe ever.

I’d love to find $50 on the ground, but I’m not going to complain I found a $20. If I didn’t pick up the $20 because I was thinking about how I wished it was a $50, it could blow away and then I have nothing.

Not only do you want to draft a stud, you want to draft a stud at the appropriate slot he's slotted to be drafted in too?

My man, drafting is hard enough without identifying the best player and then drafting him at the appropriate time to avoid calling him a reach.
