https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nfl/10-potential-commanders-coaching-candidates-bill-belichick-jim-harbaugh
Mike MacDonald: Don't forget that Harris is from Maryland, which means he is very familiar with how successful the Baltimore Ravens have been under John Harbaugh over the last 16 years. The 36-year-old MacDonald has been on Harbaugh's staff for nine of the last 10 seasons, with a one-year detour to run the defense for the other Harbaugh in Michigan. The past two years, MacDonald took over a defense that fell apart in Wink Martindale's final season and he turned it back into a top-10 unit. That's bolstered his credentials. It wouldn't hurt that Harris would be taking a key piece away from his new crosstown rivals, too. |

@LakeLewis
The @Commanders have to nail the GM/HC hires. Teams like the Texans and Colts with rookie head coaches/a rookie QB and backup QB, are in a playoff run. That word “rebuild” can happen immediately with the right people in place. #NFL 5:54 PM · Jan 3, 2024 |

Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
MTK, thanks for sharing the article. Seems like there are a few good GM candidates, I'm really excited to see how Harris group's plans unfold within a few weeks.
I really like the idea of hiring MacDonald as head coach. |

You know there probably won’t be a GM/HC in place till February, after the SB. |

No one holding either position >>>>>>>>>>>> Rivera holding either position Just want to know he's gone. That's the 1st step. I'll worry about Step 2 after Step 1 is completed. |
Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
It would be so Ron like if we won sunday
|
Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
GM: Joe Hortiz
HC: Mike Macdonald DC: Anthony Weaver OC: Zac Robinson Early wish list. |
Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
The league is offense 1st and we're drafting a QB in the 1st round. I just don't prefer a defense 1st coach for what we need. We need to get someone here that can grow w/ our drafted QB. A defense first guy may be run the ball and play defense. So many of them are wired that way. You gotta score points, the rules lean heavily towards scoring, get Ben Johnson because he is ready. He is getting the most out of an average QB. He will put an emphasis on an oline. The Lions score points w/ that average QB that McVay did not want. Get it done. It ain't that hard. He will bring the absolute best out of the QB.

No more buddy buddy stuff. If that guy is MacDonald then fine. But if that guy is someone from another organization from the one you're coming from then you go that route. |

It's usually not buddy buddy stuff, and it happens all over the NFL. Very few GM/coaches are going to hire someone who is completely unknown to them. I'm not justifying Ron's hires, but it was tiring to hear fans think that Ron was the only guy in the league that hired people he worked with before. I guess that happens when you lose, and you nitpick everything. |

You go for the best HC candidate, in my opinion MacDonald is it. He’s 36 years old, has a proven record and if you are not convinced, kicked the shit out of the forty whiners in SF. DeMeco Ryans is a defensive coach, just need to hire a good OC. |

Zac Robinson is a QB coach who is coaching under McVay. I think he's perfectly capable of coaching a rookie QB up. |

I guarantee that if we win, it won't be because of anything RR did.

Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
We’re not winning, Dallas could have 5+ turnovers and they’d still probably win

Please let it be true:
NEWS: The #Commanders are expected to be targeting #Ravens head of scouting, Joe Hortiz, and defensive coordinator, Mike Macdonald to be their next GM and HC, per the WaPo, via general managers. “It’s not going to be a retread,” according to a longtime league executive. |

Maybe one splash FA signing to act as the first building block in the centre of the defense, knows their scheme , culture and way of doing things. |

We're going to speak Macdonald into existence. We're just going to raid the whole Baltimore franchise. Washington Marauders.

I know next to nothing about M. Macdonald. If this turns out to be true, who would be the likely OC candidates he would bring in? Both sides need repair...

Been saying this for two years. What he has done with Stroud is the cherry on top. You get a quarterback from OSU to ball out in this league and you better get a shot. Immediately. |

If this happens, we should be able to get off to a fast start. [B]And Brains! Brains!
