Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
If Jayden Daniels has average or above health relative to his position, he will be an elite QB for the next 10 years. I am 100% confident in that.
And if he's healthy, we will be competitive. It's time to kick that PTSD out the fuckin' door.
True, and it goes beyond the RG3 letdown . . .
*Everything* we thought might be a sign of life in the Snyder regime, every new coach, new GM, new QB, new “generational” draft pick, all of it went to crap. I’m beginning to wrap my mind around #5’s potential, but the speed of the new brotherhood culture, killer FA signings, O-line cohesion, secondary improvement, hell, even finding a kicker — it’s hard to appreciate daylight when you’ve been living in a cave for 25 years. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Oh I get this. When Gibbs returned how could it fail? Shannahan? He has always won why not here? Scott McCloughan had a reputation as a top talent evaluator, he comes to Washington and turned into a personnel moron. But this is different. We HOPED Dwayne Haskin or Jason Campbell would be franchise QBs. Now we KNOW we have that guy and a top QB is more valuable than even a head coach. Rodgers made a bad head coach a champion and constant contender. When Brady departed the Pats they became bottom feeders with the same head coach. |

Daniels with his 4th rookie of the week honors, unreal
|
Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
JD is still a rookie QB learning his way. He's going to have some bad games. Patrick Mahomes has one here and there. It's just part of playing the position.
The RG3 stuff is in the past. This kid is nothing like RG3. JD is exactly what this franchise needed and he came at just the right time. |

i saw that, CW IMO was more deserving (STAT wise) but i will take it |
Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
Daniels with his 4th rookie of the week honors, unreal
Wow. Best stat of all is he has us at 4-1. He has protected the ball pretty well overall especially for a rookie. Outstanding start to his pro career.
|
Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
I don't think the comparison is with RG3, except only that he was a Washington forerunner. A better comparison is maybe with Jackson. JD is an equivalent runner, but I think a much better passer (well, to date he is). Be interesting to see how they compare head to head Sunday.

Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
Jayden Daniels = Faster/Right-Handed Steve Young
|
Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
I don't relate JD5 to RG3 much at all. Two totally different players and personalities and situations. Hope it continues and JD5 will be so far separated from that clown that we won't even have to think about it.

Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
I will never understand the knock that he lacks arm strength. His quick release overcomes any of that concern as the ball still arrives at the same time or quicker and he throws a very catchable ball.

This post is the first I've ever seen of a claim or more specifically referring to a claim that he lacks arm strength. Where did you hear or read that?? Did whoever make that claim say that Tyreek Hill was too slow to be a pro? |

He just doesn't have a cannon. He's still already a great qb in this league, and his release is amazingly quick as you say. One of the quickest I've seen for any qb.

Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
Dude is Special
Yes he is. We're super lucky to have him. Seems like he may miss a pass or 2 a game but overall is nearly perfect. Great combination of talent and preparation. Romo was effusive in praise for him yesterday especially with his eye movement to work the passing game better.
|
Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
Some of the throws this dude makes every week are insane. He's as accurate of a passer as we've ever had in DC
|
Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
I’m amazed at the processing speed - uncanny for a rookie. He can and does rely on athleticism for some of his plays for sure, but he’s playing smart too. Kudos to K2 for getting him this far along so quickly. Lots of natural ability for sure, but it’s also clear he’s well coached.

Based on how good he is already, the fact he's still going to get way better, his contract, where our overall roster is. Jayden Daniels was the hero we needed (and deserved). |

He's looks like the kind of guy that makes everyone around him better, and/or he's a fantastic talent evaluator. He brought in Peters and Peters has given us Quinn & co. and JD5. JD5 is the new face of the franchise, but Harris is the real hero. |

Per John Keim
Dan Quinn said Jayden Daniels is week to week; he said they're "hopeful" he can play Sunday but will be smart about his return. |

Vegas doesn’t think he plays ; they have chi as the favorite
|
Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
From DQ's comments I would have bet he plays. Players play hurt every week. Now I'm not so sure. Obviously if it's something that can get worse you sit him but that is not my impression. Clearly I don't want him playing in that instance but if not I'd really like to see him play.

i wish they would actually say what it is . . . bruised rib? pulled muscle? strained Cartlidge? but no, keep it vague so nobody really knows how long to expect |

I hope they don't disclose any more than they have to. Keep everyone guessing. No one outside that building needs to know anything "extra". |

The thing is that an injury to the bone or cartilage are more or less the same thing in terms of how long a player will be out. If it's muscle related though, that could be a very significant injury. I'm fine with DQ and everyone else being cagey about the answers if the purpose is to hinder an opponent's ability to game plan. My concern though is that the actual reason for the caginess is ownership's concern about selling tickets, and they know the injury is much more serious. |

Eberflus just said recently he Bears will be ready for either Commanders' qb. No need to reveal anything as this is a pretty big game. The NFL world quickly needs to realize that Washington and Chicago are suddenly improved with their new stud qbs and in our case coaches/fo. HTTC! |
Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
I'm revising my forecast and now believe he sits at least a week. It's clear it's not a bruise from the comments and if it's a pull or a tear I don't see how there is not a risk of further injury.

I think he will too. him coming back on the sidelines all smiles during the game, he’s whole demeanor was it’s nothing, just got a bruise. I think that was a tell. This team knows on Sunday this is a really big game. Important for the playoffs. |
Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
week to week was the give away he is not playing this Sunday against CHI
|
Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
As frustrating as it is to not really know it's certainly better than before. Ron would have given a complete report and given away a competitive advantage they would have had.

Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
Good sign today…hopefully he is ready to go Sunday
|
Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
Looks like Daniels is playing today if I had to guess, all the signs are there. This game appears to be more important to Bears fans than Commanders fans. After Jayden's great start they feel they are behind in the QB war and want desperately for their guy to outperform ours to justify their pick. Daniels could throw for 100 yards and 3 picks today if he plays and I would still take him over any other player in that draft.
Why can't they both be great? That's what I see coming and it's great for the league. These are 2 teams with huge national followings, fans who have been searching for their guy for generations. It's better for the league to have star QBs playing in DC and Chicago than Jacksonville and Arizona. |
Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
Tony Romo played with a broken rib and bruised rib on separate occasions. He actually continued to play at a fairly high level as well. If Daniels pain or discomfort can be mitigated with novacaine, and not in any way affect his play, then numb it up.
