Re: The Most Fresh & Cordial Political Thread Ever
Well, my party can't get their act together. I was hoping Emmer would be voted in, but I guess the MAGA wing or elements of it have decided they will not support anyone who is not MAGA. Unfortunately, that is most of the GOP caucus in the House and enough of that group won't support a MAGA guy. (Figure about 20+ MAGA on one side and 40+ or so non-MAGA on the other won't compromise). My prediction - The government will shut down on 17 November due to a lack of a Speaker.

I just wanted to say that I care about all of y'all and am very thankful for this site and community. And even though I haven't met any of you in-person (yet), I do consider most of you guys my friends.
I hope all is well! |
Re: The Most Fresh & Cordial Political Thread Ever
lots of missing nuance. part of Hamas's rise was due to fatah (the previous ruling party) being super corrupt, and the main selling point was that they wouldn't be. A lot of the people there are also tired of living in something of a prison-state. Not saying there aren't concerns (Hamas has always been pretty okay with violence against civilians, not looking for coexistence, etc), but part of the reason they're in power is because of how disliked Israeli policies towards Palestinians are there and that no one seems to be doing much about it. (Also, egypt and jordan really DO NOT want palestinian refugees, and Iran likes using them, but doesn't actually care about them).
the cause/effect chain goes all the way back to the founding. it's interconnected and messy.
A prison state? Complete nonsense. Palestinian chose Hamas…a jihadist death cult style Islamist trash over the secular option back in the 2000s Super corrupt in the Middle East? I can’t believe it. Corrupt like this: https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/gaza-plagued-poverty-hamas-no-shortage-cash-come-rcna121099 “Gaza is plagued by poverty, but Hamas has no shortage of cash. Where does it come from? Hamas has an investment portfolio of real estate and other assets worth $500 million, say experts, and an annual military budget of as much as $350 million.“ Hamas being eradicated would serve the people in Palestinians and Israel. Yet again Biden administration has failed in the Middle East. Their policy with Iran is the foundation of the terrorist attack and now the on going war. This is almost as bad as the Obama administration |

So why is all these Jew hating chanting, antisemitic marches in big cities and college campuses suddenly ok?
Is it because they don’t have tiki torches? Funny to see how these suddenly ok with the left and endorsed by college campuses administration. I guess that’s just nuance |

Israel for years has been the best in the world, even better than us, for targeting actions designed to prevent civilian casualties. They are the only military that knocks targets prior to attack (small explosive). This allows civilians and, yes the bad guys time to evacuate. Refusing to target the bad guys when they have civilians around them incentivizes bad guys to always surround themselves with civilians. Much like paying kidnappers leads to more kidnappings allowing bad guys to use this tactic successfully ultimately leads to more civilian deaths. You are off base here and have fallen for what Hamas tactic was designed for. |

“Out of control” You guys are pathetic. Hamas is shooting their own people trying to flee the north. Hamas Leadership has explicitly stated high children and women death tolls are a strategy, they want their own to be killed. They purposely put headquarters, ammunition and terrorists in hospitals and schools. Are you and Mooby stating you don’t know this? The Most Fresh & Cordial Political Thread Ever
The House Republicans are the biggest disaster in US Government history. Electing people based on the fact that they say nice things about Donald Trump is a sure fire way to get nothing done. They are incapable of governing. They literally are not qualified for their jobs. It is crazy. They also don’t give a fuck. They enjoy the chaos and do not suffer the consequences.

George Santos.................
Rep. George Santos hit with scathing ethics report, says he won't seek reelection The New York Republican responded to the findings with a defiant statement. In many different ways, the Ethics Committee found, the New York Republican "sought to exploit his campaign, and the access to wealthy donors it afforded him, for his own personal profit." Among other misdeeds, Santos allegedly reported fictitious loans to get wealthy donors to make contributions, used his connections to obtain yet more donations, including to make "purported 'repayments' of those fictitious loans," and diverted campaign money for his own use. "And he sustained all of this through a constant series of lies to his constituents, donors, and staff about his background and experience," the ethics report reads. Santos' questionable expenses ranged from some $2,280 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, last year -- where he liked to play roulette, often with his husband -- to $2,900 that was labeled for "Botox" as well as approximately $10,000 spent at high-end Ferragamo and Hermes stores, about $3,330 at a rental property while his calendar listed him as being in the Hamptons in New York and various sums to pay off credit card debt and his rent, among other suspect spending such as charges in Las Vegas while Santos was believed to be on his honeymoon, the report states. "In a recent interview, he cast himself as a victim, someone who is being held to a different standard Just like trump always the victim, kinda like the three amigos here. lol. |

Re: The Most Fresh & Cordial Political Thread Ever
Was in a discussion with a Marine Trump supporter over the Trump coup attempt, and asked how given he had taken the oath he could support someone who is an enemy of the Constitution. He stated there was nothing illegal about what was attempted.
So, I pointed out that Eastman admitted his plan violated the Electoral Count Act and relayed that to Trump and crew. He doesn't believe Eastman did any such thing. I then pointed out that the prosecutors had to disclose this evidence in their indictments and it was there for anyone to review. His response was there was nothing illegal about what was attempted (As if I what I just said / pointed out about the evidence just didn't occur). I just don't get how people are able to just refuse to believe what is put in front of them. I've seen this ability all my life (on this board too), but still don't get it. |
