Can I ask you where you got those stats from? I think it would be interesting to look at.
Pro Football Prospectus 2007.
You can get it at any bookstore, but I'd be happy to give you identical metrics on any player in the league right now to save time. |
Re: Lamar Marshall released for Randall Godfrey??
Maybe this can give H.B more playing time and hopefully let startz really show what he can do plus this was Marshalls last year any way.IMO i think Marshall wasn't at all a true redskins i never see him hyped up enough to show that he was but London has and Said he always wanted to be with us.

Ive seen him play he can be a good pressuring guy but covering is another thing. |

6.1 in 2005 (ranked 59th among LBs). Pretty much an average pass defender. |

What? Marshall wasn't a true Redskin? He most definitely loved playing for this team. Whether or not things unraveled recently, I don't know. But they thought very highly of him and vice versa. He's been a quiet guy by all accounts. I've seen him in a few interviews, he just comes across as a very humble guy. |

So, on all passes where Godfrey was determined to be the defender the average was 4.5 yards? Is that what it means? |
Re: Lamar Marshall released for Randall Godfrey??
Any word on contract details...? Still more to this story than meets the eye.......

Re: Lamar Marshall released for Randall Godfrey??
Come on guys. Lets look at this in a positive manner. Did anyone see Marshall try to ARM tackle over and over again against the Steelers just for them to break the tackle? Did anyone see him lead with his shoulder the one that was hurt last year? I didn't. Marshall is not young, Godfrey is a Bigger LB who is a veteran and started for SD last year. He is a one year Backup, who can also rush the passer. The coaches seem to be impressed with the Draft picks, so i'll trust their judgement. By releasing Marshall they must like Sartz who is the same size as him, but 8 years younger, I see this as a positive.

Re: Lamar Marshall released for Randall Godfrey??
The worst thing about this whole damn trade is that my Madden 2008 rosters are already out of date.
|
Re: Lamar Marshall released for Randall Godfrey??
I'm sure someone else has already mentioned this, but...
Godfrey was said to be considering retirement before the Redskins contacted him.
(from ESPN.com) Reading that doesn't exactly put me at ease. |
Re: Lamar Marshall released for Randall Godfrey??
From JLac:
Posted at 11:23 AM ET, 08/21/2007 Lemar Marshall Released This just in on the phone from Jason: The Redskins have released linebacker Lemar Marshall, whose production last season was affected by injuries and, consequently, had fallen somewhat out of favor with the team. Still, he was a solid special teams guy and knew how to play every linebacker position in this defense. Privately, he had worried about his role and was uncertain about his future here, but said this morning he had not asked for a trade. "I'm totally surprised," he said. We'll add more as we get it. Surprised, but GW and co very much blamed the LBs for last season--fired the coach, new MLB, start Rocky, cut Lamar, draft some new blood. We'll see! |
