Who or what is the source of the rumor that Rogers wants out of DC? I haven't heard anything before this thread, although it's been in the back of my mind that he might want to go play for Williams.
Rogers himself was the source, about three days after the season, when emotions were running high.

He never said he wanted out though, he was complaining (correctly) about not being a starter, and that it was disrespectful to his skills and that they might want to consider letting him play elsewhere.

Now I remember but at the time didn't take it all that literally. I think he needs to be reassured like ya'll suggested. The strain or tension between he and Blache, or i guess Gray could be involved too, has to be remedied and it's Blache's responsibility IMO. There's something amiss here with this little drama scene and it's frustrating to not be in the know.
I also have a lot of fun with the "he was badly misused in Oakland" point. Seriously? You can play across the field from the best corner in all of football and still be misused? If you can't be a decent corner playing across from the best in the business, where can you succeed?

Washington, I guess. But still, 7 games are 7 games.
I don't think he was misused, he was just on a terrible team period. And as our own team has shown, one player cannot change a crappy offense or defense. I can name you another play whose numbers suffered by being in a terrible Raiders team, Randy Moss.

Our defense is not crappy, and a DB tandem of Hall and Rogers for a full year can make it even better. I don't think the argument should boil down to either Hall or Rogers, the team should strive to keep both, bottom line.

Wasn't Rogers originally sidelined for some kind of prolonged flu or something like that. Then Hall was brought in and played out the season. Maybe that's all there is to it. Hopefully Hall and Rogers are both starters for the Skins. Were going to find out soon enough.

I remember the flu as an earlier issue 44 but even later Blache had Smoot playing over Rogers. I honestly can't think of one thing Smoot does better than Rogers on the football field... i bet off the field Smoot can drink him under the table though LOL

In one of the later games of the year, I remember Los getting beat on a pass at the end of the game and then complaining that the offense knew what the defense was doing. I remember turning to my girlfriend and saying " Oh S**T! That was directed right at Blache". I'm surprised no one else seems to remember this but things started going downhill for Los right after that.

I seem to remember that play coming in the loss to Cinci... Los looked pretty bad and I wondered if he was already "underperforming" cuz of internal stuff.

He and Blache need to bury this hatchet if Los is staying in DC. One nice part about the B & G is that we don't have to deal much w/ the drama bullsh*t.

Yeah he looked real bad. I agree. If that was what this is all about they need to get over this crap.

Yea I don't get it. As you said Goat, it's frustrating not knowing exactly whats going on.

Donta and Hayden got signed. Looks like the market for Hall is getting better for him and worse for us.

The raiders are also about to tag asimoghua or whatever his name is... hall is now the #1 FA CB on the market. Skins would have been wise to sign him when he was cheap. he'll very likely cost several more M in garaunteed money now. i predict whoever signs him is going to pay him 7-8M/year.

I hate to say this, but with the way the DB FA market is right now, it seems like we're going to have either Hall or Rogers, but not both. I'm sure regardless of what happens, ppl are going to complain about any decision made by the team on this matter.

Apparently the Raiders might be backing out of tagging Asomugha, could be that they're close to a long-term deal. Who knows when it comes to the Raiders.

I think the Texans have tagged Dunta Robinson, if I heard right

I don't see why we can't have both in '09. We can wait for Rogers until next year. If he demands a trade then we (might) have to think about moving him but our main goal is to re-sign Hall.
Getting rid of Rogers, who was universally regarded as an 'arrogant punk' by the people covering the team every day could impact chemistry in a very bad way?

It's so funny how people let their entire perception of someone be formed by what they hear in the national media. The hilarious thing about D. Hall is before he played for Bobby Petrino and had his on field blowup with him, there were no concerns about his attitude in Atlanta. He was widely considered one of the top CB in the game and expected to be an all pro for years to come. He plays for a coach that even Warrick Dunn (WARRICK DUNN!) had nothing but negative words about, then went to an even worse, more dysfunctional organization than the Falcons were and now he's a terrible, overrated CB who's a major character risk. Really?
My point is getting rid of a guy that's paid his dues here & worked hard to come back from injury (Rogers) for a guy who plays half a season, needs a new contract & has a history of attitude problems, is generally bad for team chemistry. Honestly i wasn't aware of Rogers' being an "arrogant punk."

You assume that "my entire perception" is based on reports from nat'l media. Quite the contrary. I'm a Va. Tech alum & live less than an hour from VT, and a big fan of the football team. When Hall played for VT he had the same reputation, a selfish prima donna that divided the locker room. I heard from several people over the years that know players & coaches well, and their opinion of him is never good, aside from his talent.

Granted, I did not get info first hand, but I trust the people who relayed stories to me. Obviously, 99%+ of the opinions on this site are based on our limited perception of people who live somewhat public lives. If I waited for first hand info on everything, I'd never vote, because I've never met a president!

The last year Hall played at VT in 03, the team went from #3 in the country to losing a bowl game 52-49 & finishing 6-5 (pretty sure but not positive). The next year Hall left & the coaching staff made a point in camp of emphasizing team unity. That year they won the acc w/what most considered a less talented team. Not saying that Hall has to shoulder all the blame, but several people close to the team single him out for negatively affecting the team's chemistry.

The same behavior has continued in the nfl. Yes, I get most of my info. from the nat'l media, but there is a reason a guy w/so much talent at a vital position has been dumped twice (w/one of them being the ever dysfunctional raiders) & he's only 25!!!
