Re: Jason Campbell for Vince Young ? Who would you rather have?
yes we do lack the deep ball, but think about it. we all know the deep ball usually goes only to santana. santana is way more effective when he crosses the middle, because as he is spied. that leaves cooley open to the flats. they have to spread the ball. that is the only way the running game will open up, and allow a play for a deep pass.

Re: Jason Campbell for Vince Young ? Who would you rather have?
As far as picks next year lets say a new salary cap does get into place with a new collective bargaining agreement - with our current salary cap strcuture can we even afford a top 5 pick - whether it be a lineman or qb? I know that trading a pick takes two sides but I think if a salary cap is in place next year we may not have a choice in keeping that pick even if it means not getting fair value by trading down - there are consequences when you give massive contracts to big time free agents.
As far as which position I prefer to build the offensive line and do it via the draft and maybe pick one or two players via free agency - although with our cap I don't really know if this is viable since all decent offensive lineman command big salaries. Lets try to learn from history here guys - one of the main reasons we won 3 superbowls was because of the hogs - once we get that unit up to speed the other parts can be put into place. |

Working magic around it is Vinny's only strong suit, besides the seventh round. |

Get the f*ck out of here!!! Is this a serious question?

Just because you guys don't agree with the proposal doesn't mean that the thread needs to be closed, grow up. |
Re: Jason Campbell for Vince Young ? Who would you rather have?
and the problem with Bradford? Who is going to block for him? Success starts upfront. Build lines first. Snyder has no clue how to do that. Why? I guess that is too boring.
I say you go for the franchise QB possibility first, harder to find than a competent o-line. If we bring in a golden boy, we'll get some more protection one way or another. |
Re: Jason Campbell for Vince Young ? Who would you rather have?
Well the only way we get a great QB is to draft 1 and we don't have a good track recorded drafting QB's. So I'm not thinking drafting a QB with our 1st round pick in 2010 cause its not easy evauluating QB's out of college. Every WR gets open in college football but in the NFL that window so much smaller.
So we need to draft scared as well as play scared something tells me that's not what to do |
Re: Jason Campbell for Vince Young ? Who would you rather have?
Hmmm...JC or VY?
Would you rather be shot in the head or the balls? |
Re: Jason Campbell for Vince Young ? Who would you rather have?
I think now anyone that likes or dislikes JC has to see now that our offense's lack of production is more than him being a poor QB that can't read defenses. Every football expert can see that with our awful O-Line and poor play calling contributes to our poor offense. Like I stated early on this thread JC was not drafted by JOE GIBBS to run a WC offense. If we bring in another coach that runs a WC offense dont keep JC becuase he will fail in this system. Considering we have not drafted a O-LIneman in the 1st round since Chris Samuels are we surprised that our O-Line blows ass.

How many of you watched Vince Young destroy USC in the Rose Bowl? How many of you thought VY was going to suck in the NFL? Hey VY is what he is a athlete that plays QB. Im not saying I wanted Vince for JC but some many people bash JC and dont take in consideration how trashed his O-Line is. People want JC gone so I asked Who do you want then. You want to spend a 1st round pick on a college QB or find a Back up QB on some other teams roster. Good teams don't have franchise QB's sitting on the bench. We would be better off keeping JC and drafting Lineman next draft than drafting a QB with our #1 pick. Prior post some fans said we should pick Bradford out Oklahoma, ok but will still have a sh*t O-Line. JC can be a solid QB if we can run the ball and play good defense. He is no Peyton or Tom Brady but niether was Rex Grossman and they made it to the Super Bowl. So settled down Saden and read some prior posts on here. If not go shut the hell up.:boxing: |
Re: Jason Campbell for Vince Young ? Who would you rather have?
I'm guessing maybe you meant to ask Jason Campbell or Vince Young. The thread title gave me at least the impression that you were suggesting a Campbell for Young trade.
But maybe a better question would have simply been "How would you address the QB situation?" or "If Campbell's gone, who should be our QB in 2010?" Something along those lines perhaps |

We had the Vince Young debate here a looong time ago before JC was getting trashed on as QB. Technically your question is a rehash. But like SS said, maybe that's due to poor phrasing. The Skins O-Line is trashed, but the Skins were playing shitty BEFORE the O-Line was trashed. Btw, Rex Grossman had a decent supporting cast and a pretty good, consistent defense that launched them into the playoffs. |
Re: Jason Campbell for Vince Young ? Who would you rather have?
Vince young is nothing more than an oversized Michael Vick from his early days. He can run around, but can't read a defense to save his life. Campbell is far better than Young. Young happened to play on a team that got a lot of pub because they beat USC. Young can move around better than Campbell, but that is about all that he does better than him. Campbell gets my vote because he is somewhat of a pocket passer and at least tries to stay with the play. Young wants to pull it down and run most of the time.

Your answer is right. Franchise type players don't often hit the open market and they don't really sit the bench. I wouldn't mind giving Campbell another year, but I know that his time here is done because the ownership has decided that. It is their own fault that they couldn't land Sanchez or Cutler. Since when don't they pony up for players that they really like? They usually would overpay with money or draft picks. The reason that they didn't pony up is because they knew that they had to get some defensive help because of the lack of a pass rush. If they got a QB, he would have been killed and there would have been nothing little Danny could have done but watch as his precious new QB gets thrown to the ground because the offensive line that he and Cerrato have built throughout the years got that QB injured. To me, there is no alternative but keep Campbell ink him to a deal. Draft a Qb if they want to in the second round to push Campbell and draft a lineman in the first round and third round. The QB will push Campbell for playing time and the ability to motivate. The lineman will hopefully be the start of rebuilding a depleted offensive line that has been ignored for far too long. |
