You make it sound like he needs help putting on his clothes in the morning. Still he spent 20 hours a week watching film and the coaches that engaged him in chalk talk during the interview part of the combine all seemed to come away impressed.

Look I'm a florida gator fan, I've watched him ever since he's come to Gainesville, and believe me, yes lets just say this guy goes to bed with a helmet on.
Actually remember that either Colt or Grossman would be left out. It is a pretty dicey situation but worse comes to worse you could apply the tranistion tag to JC or find a veteran to bring in. The team is 2 or 3 years away from competing anyway but at the same time we have a heavy emphasis on the run so Tebow won't be left out in the cold. I think though that he will develop faster then people think but all of this could be moot. Personally Tebow reminds me of a shorter and more wholesome version of Big Ben.

Also remember that Flacco and Ben had pretty smooth transitions from the spread in college so while the spread offense is a deterent it's still not a deal breaker especially when it comes to early success.
Why is the team 2-3 years from competing? I think this is an inaccurate cliche when teams are "rebuilding".

Between not having a kicker born with the Tony Romo gag reflex (2 wins) Shanahan (2-3 wins), a well exected draft, a couple more good FA signings and a couple of good bounces this team could win 9 or 10 games next year. If I had to bet, I would say 7-9 or 8-8 but 10-6 would not shock me. Miami went from 1-15 to the playoffs and Atlanta did a similar turnaround in the same year.

Hell they started out 6-2 with a complete jackass running things. Anything could happen.

With the way the league is set up (early draft picks for bad teams, bad teams getting easier schedules and now playoff teams are limited in FA) quick turnarounds are the norm as opposed to being the exception.

I guess I should clarify that I mean 2 or 3 years away from being a serious Super Bowl contender. Thats what I mean by compete. Sure we might make the playoffs as early as next year but I'm more interested in being a championship team, not one that inches into the playoffs.

Classic, also thanks for omitting that poorly structured last sentence when you quoted me. Would have been slightly embarrassing if I didn't get a chance to edit it.

I know what you mean. Recent history, specifically the Steelers and Giants, would suggest that low seeds can win a championship (although if you look at both of those teams they were consistently making the playoffs before they had their miracle seasons).

The 09 Saints model is fairly obtainable this year, but we'd flip the units: it'd be the offense that would be rejuvenated by a philosophical improvement, and the defense that finds its place among the league's elite units.

I mean, we've been in the playoffs as recently as 2007.

And no matter what, without a top 3 or 4 defense, super bowl contender is pretty unobtainable, especially in the current division. And I'm done picking these guys to be an elite unit. Even with a coaching improvement, they are average in my mind until proven otherwise.

Tuesday, March 23, 3:16 p.m.

The top prospects for Notre Dame stood on their combine numbers as offensive tackle Sam Young, center Eric Olsen and wide receiver Golden Tate participated only in position drills.
Paul Duncan, the team's third prospect on the offensive line, worked out for scouts and was impressive. Duncan measured 6-foot-6.5 and weighed 308 pounds. His 40 times ranged in the area of 5.17 seconds and Duncan pushed up 30 reps on the bench. He looked solid in position drills, displaying fluid hips and nice feet.
As mentioned earlier quarterback, Jimmy Clausen was on hand to view the workout. Clausen was seen hanging around with a contingent of people from the Washington Redskins during most of the pro-day event.

Re: Updated: Redskins to hold private workouts with Tebow and Bradford
You want us to pick Bradford, my god. There's never been a QB in the history of the draft built like him who actually has been slated to be drafted in the first round. At best, he defies all comparable. At worst, he has no business being a first rounder.

I don't think you have any idea that it costs more to go from No. 4 to No. 1 than it does to go from wherever we pick in the draft next year to No. 4. But this, unfortunately, is fact.
Not necessarily. If I remember correctly DS and Cerrato took a little trip. Rumor was Shanahan was interested in Bradford and they were scouting him. This came out while we still had some 4-5 games left in the regular season so honestly most of us I think kinda started looking at him seriously as our next possible QB. Then it seemed a lot of other teams fell in love with him. I think we simply have had more time to develope a man crush for him.

I keep hearing how good Clausen is and how there is not much diffference in them. So if thats true then I'm ok with the team picking him also. After that all the QB's take a major plung. None are anywhere near these two. Most experts have the rest being picked either extremely late 1st round or 2nd round on. McCoy I've heard is second to Bradford with his accuracy his only problem is he doesn't have the arm strength for the long ball. I'd be ok with him also but I'm not sure if I'd take him at #4.

So no I'm not against taking anyone else, but I can't see taking someone who is most likely no better then what we already have. There is really only two at the top of this list then there is the rest. I'd find a way to get one of the top ones and move on. I'm just pointing out though that if Bradford is the person Shanahan is truly interested in then get him. If he does not have a favorite then pick one of the top two.

I also understand and believe we are not in the SB running for atleast 3-5 yrs. and can understand the thought process in regards to picking up a QB next year and still having time to develope them but I guarentee you we will in no way be in the top 5 next year in order to pick up a top ranked QB. Which means we most likely will have to give up more then what we have to this year to get who we want. According to peoples points structure. Atleast this years pick could be learning Shanahan's system for next year.

Then we had The Great Jim Zorn and his hard nose work ethic and everyone being on the same page years. Wouldn't have been nice to have this regime come in after the 2007 season.
