There should be an age limit. Anyone who would give a condom to a first grader should be fired.

But that raises the question, which is the appropriate age? When does sex ed begin in school these days..5th, 6th grade? Make the condom availible to middle schooler then...its really not that hard of a problem to solve
I doubt that they even stocked the elementary schools with them. It has to be done by request through the school nurse. What 1st grader is going to go to the school nurse to request a condom?

More Fox News flipping out over bullshit.

He would've been so ashamed. To think we're actually talking about whether it's right or wrong to give children condoms. WTF? I'm out.
It was very honorable of you to wait until after high school "gradjeeation" to have sex.

You assume most kids will have sex. I don't. How many pregnancies do you hear of at all male / all female boarding schools?
Having worked with young couples from a large Christian university I can assure you that many of them screw like crazy once they get around each other, including those that went to gender-segregated schools. So many of them marry young so that they can either start getting it on or justify it.

More Fox News flipping out over bullshit.
I have had the news on this weekend < all of the locals > as well as Fox News , not once did I see this issue discussed , so how do you assume that Fox is " fliiping out again " ? The flipping out mantra was also used when covering Judges giving light sentances for raping children The Judge Cashman Story (gives 60 days for child rapist in Vermont) ... Vermont Cynic - Vermont Judge Sentences Convicted Child Rapist to 60-day Sentence ... of course Fox News got attacked for covering this case also .

It was a FOX affiliate in Boston, not FOX News that ran the initial story. And if it was no big deal why did the school board get swamped with complaints and "revisit" their policy? Provincetown is a progressive area and the locals had no issue with the policy. As far as I'm concerned their public school policy is their business, public schools are a local matter.

However, there's no way condoms should be provided by the school to any children in elementary school. Middle school and high school, there should always be parental consent. Sex Ed, fine as long as it is age appropriate and there's a parental option to opt-out.

When the police come knocking on the school superintendent's door and not mine for something my kid did, or when my son gets someone pregnant the school district will provide all the necessary financial support to raise the child, or when the school district can figure out a way to bring my kid back from the dead if he died of an STD, then they can give him condoms without my consent. Until he's an adult he's my responsibility, not the school districts or state's, and that being the case no one in my school district will give him anything without my consent.

A couple of things: first, where in the article is the political affiliation of this school board or town identified? Firstdown and Buster, you are just assuming, asserting that some strange town behaving strangely is part and parcel of a larger "left" plot to ultimately show porn in schools and discredit the bible or whatever, and not just the bizarre and somewhat inexplicable maneuvering of an obscure school board in the middle of nowhere (a school board which may in fact be solidly republican, although that's unlikely). And even if the school board is predominantly liberal, or ick, even gay, from what do you conclude that their goofy school boarding represents some sort of larger political trend? This is what I term the outrage culture, in which the media spoon feeds people largely meaningless, completely symbolic stories about people in other towns doing crazy outrageous things, and tells these people that said stories somehow represent larger national trends, in this case the left's plan to turn your cute little first grader into a camel porn watching fornicating gay Muslim, meanwhile distracting from issues of actual substance. This is a non-issue. If you don't like the board's policy, don't move to that town. End of story.

Second, Buster, you should really see a therapist. So much anger! At least Firstdown seems like a nice guy.

Third, USA! I'm proud of our boys, hell of a world cup.

Holla!

Don't worry, when the Opal Ring Crusade comes to Buster's town, his kids will decide to have sex in the ear instead of regular intercourse. It's much safer that way.

I am well qualified to speak on the subject without having had children of my own. I am my father son and he has tought me how to make good decisions. I have never felt I couldn't go to him for advice and I did all the time. No matter what is advice came first.

thats great, and im glad for you. but not all kids can avoid something known as peer pressure. in reality, you can do all the right things as a parent, and once the child reaches a certain age, they will start making their own decisions. they will have pressure from all angles. some will do the right thing. others.... let me ask you this, our prisons are full. are the parents of all those prisoners bad parents?
