Just read that the doctor who performed the surgery on Chase Minnifield was Dr. James Andrews. Thats awesome to hear with the success stories he has had (Drew Brees' shoulder). The consensus is he's just about the best in the business.
Thanks for the info, that is good news. |

He would have been better off using alternative medicine... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJNYLBIfq8M]"Miyagi Reiki" from The Karate Kid (1984) Columbia Pictures - YouTube[/ame] |

Why couldn't the Redskins draft the kid with a 7th rounder? Makes me sad :( |

Philly's GM just said Thomas is an Eagle... I'm gonna take his word

Re: UDFA Thread
Probably already posted but the team signed Kirk Cousins fellow senior WR from Michigan Nichol. He's 6'2, 220lbs. He started out at Oklahoma as a QB but would be sitting behind Bradford so he switched schools to Michigan and Cousins beat him out. He then switched his position to WR in order to get playing time. He says he hopes he gets to stay with the team since he can play WR, Special Teams, be a third string QB if need be, and he says if nothing else he's willing to try out at Safety. He's prideful about how he and Cousins are very intelligent.

You mean Michigan State, this is the dude that caught the hail mary against Wisconsin

Re: UDFA Thread
Also, unless something changed, this dude and someone else whose name I can't recall are getting minicamp tryouts. Technically they haven't been signed

Re: UDFA Thread
Here's the article I read, pretty good read. I think he will be the guy I root for this season... long shot with good attitude and high IQ.

Yep sorry. Yeah I think it's just a tryout. Cousins suggested the team bring him in. Who knows maybe he and Cousins make a connection in the preseason games and the team decides to keep him. |
Re: UDFA Thread
In case some can't open the page for whatever reason....
“I think it'll be a real good thing for us,” Nichol said of he and Cousins both joining the Redskins. “We're both high IQ football guys. It wasn't the deciding factor that Kirk was there, but that's a bonus.” He settled on Washington after multiple teams approached him following the draft. The strong and athletic 6-foot-2, 220-pound Nichol said he felt the Redskins offered him the best opportunity to prove he can be a multi-dimensional threat on the football field at the professional level – as a wide receiver, a special teams contributor, a third-string quarterback or even on defense as a safety. “I'm going to be very confident,” Nichol said of getting a shot at the NFL. “I won't go in there cocky. I'll be humble and I'll try to show my football IQ and that I can play a lot of positions. I may not have a (defined) position, but if you're a guy who can produce at a lot of spots, you're going to be in the league just as long.” Nichol, once a prolific high school quarterback, began his college career at Oklahoma, buried on the depth chart behind eventual Heisman Trophy winner and No. 1 overall NFL pick Sam Bradford. He transferred to Michigan State, where he lost an extremely tight battle with Cousins to be the starting quarterback. He made the transition to catching passes in his final two seasons. He had 50 receptions for 625 yards and four touchdowns as a Spartan, including the dramatic Hail Mary catch-and-stretch touchdown to defeat Wisconsin at the end of regulation this past season. He also finished with 826 passing yards and nine touchdowns, accumulating most of that in his sophomore season. Nichol said he expects to make an NFL roster as a wide receiver. “I see myself as a guy who can get on the field at wide receiver. I think I've come a long way in two years at that position,” he said. “I've got the size for the NFL, I run very good routes and I'm fast in and out of my breaks. “I'll play anywhere they want me, though. I feel I would be a third quarterback if teams need that, I play on special teams, and I think I could move over and play safety if I had a chance there,” he added. Nichol just wants a chance to prove he belongs in the NFL. “I'm really looking forward to it,” he said. “I know that it's going to be tough in the NFL, but I just want a chance to get out there and prove myself at that level. I want to make that 53-man roster on game days.”
|

When does it look Chase Winnfield will be ready to get on the field

Re: UDFA Thread
I've been hearing a lot of about this kid Chase Minnifield. His knee injury must have been serious if he went undrafted. Hopefully his mends from the injury and make the other 31 teams regret that they passed on him. He has the ability to play cornerback in the NFL and when healthy he's a first round talent. If this kid can apply himself and make plays in preseason then he might even unseat Josh Wilson opposite D. Hall.
