Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR

We're definitely in the dead zone of the offseason. |

If the Redskins end up parting ways with Brandon Banks, another team will sign him and he will go on to have pro bowl seasons year in and year out. |
Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
ya, that seems to be the trend. We give up too soon in favor of older proven players that dont go to the pro bowl after coming here.
Ah, but this HAS changed in the past two years. This year I feel we will become a competitive team that is more fun to watch than painful, even if just for the youth movement and optimism. GO SKINS!!!!! |

While he is explosive he is no more then an average return man. |
Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
Yeah now that the secrets out about his speed, I didn't see much from him last year

But Banks has potential. On another special teams unit he could prove to be what Devin Hester was back in 2006. |
Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
Potential does not make a pro bowler

Nope. Besides, teams adjusted, and depending on who you ask, either Banks or the special teams coaches never adjusted back. They know how to play his speed now. He's not particularly agile either, and that doesn't help. |

I think after years of of watching ARE run backwards on kick returns; anybody looks good now.

I don't often recall ARE running backwards... but that could be because he spent most of his time fair catching for me to notice. |

He did and alot of side to side. He lead in the most yards ran and the lowest yards gained. |
Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
In ARE's defense, the blocking was awful most times. That's got to get to you if you're back there knowing hell is coming at you.

Banks has a 40 time of 4.23. I remember speedsters like Willie Gault, Renaldo Neimiah, our own Darrell Green, and Ron Brown from way back in the days. These men had world class speed and broke a punt return for a TD or for a long gain almost every time they fielded a punt. With the exception of Green and maybe Gault, Banks is just about as fast if not faster than those other punt returners were during that era. Why Banks only returns punts for touchdowns during preseason only is beyond me. |

Show me where, because I am sure he ran a 4.5. |
