Re: Release Josh Morgan or else....
REC YDS AVG TD LG TGTS
L. Hankerson 2 68 34.0 1 68 3 J. Morgan 5 50 10.0 0 14 5 A. Robinson 2 40 20.0 0 28 3 S. Moss 3 14 4.7 0 9 3 F. Davis 2 14 7.0 0 8 5 N. Paul 3 13 4.3 0 8 3 E. Royster 2 7 3.5 0 5 3 R. Helu 1 0 0.0 0 0 1 D. Briscoe 0 0 0.0 0 0 1 Hopefully the formatting looks right, but Morgan was targeted 5 times for 5 receptions. Don't see cutting that. On the other hand FD had 5 targets for 2 receptions. Not saying to cut him, but he isn't going to earn any big contract with those type of numbers. We missed Garcon yesterday. |
Re: Release Josh Morgan or else....
If Robinson makes that catch maybe we're singing a different tune today. He had a golden opportunity and let it slip. He can't let that happen again.

I must say that this reminds me a lot of the Baltimore/New England game last year. Lee Evans dropped the game winning TD, but it is Cundiff with his missed FG attempt (which would have only tied the game) that got all the blame. |

yeah good point |
I think his first thought might have been to get out of bounds.
We had no time outs left at that point.
We still had plenty of time. Just shows another error on his part if that was his thought. |
Everyone in the NFC East is now 1-1 except for those lucky Eagles, who despite many turnovers are somehow 2-0. No one has played anyone in the division yet and after two weeks if you would have told me the Skins would have been 1-1, I would have said "yeah they will lose to the Saints and beat the Rams!" it hasn't happen that way but the results are the same.
Yeah, this is the same big picture perspective I've taken as well. I figured 1-1 when I looked at the schedule with us beating the Rams and losing to the Saints. |

Who knows, I was just tossing that out there as a possibility. We can second guess things all day. |

What pisses me off almost more is the fact that he decided to turn around, rather than just running and falling for the first down. Had he done that, none of the other stuff would have happened. I understand trying to make a play happen, but in that type of situation, that late in the game you MUST go forward. Plain and simple.
This. Morgan just wasn't/isn't very good. SF was extremely short on WRs when they let him walk, which reflects what the SF front office really thinks about him. |

At that point in the game the 1st down was more important then stopping the clock. If he makes the 1st we can spike the ball with around 50 seconds on the clock and time to run a few plays. If he gets stopped as he did we have around 60 seconds to try the FG. My question is why did we try the FG and not go for the 1st down. My guess is we had a better chance of gettig the 1st over making a 63 yrd kick. |
Re: Release Josh Morgan or else....
I don't understand the talk of Josh Morgan not being good. Where was all of this before his big blunder. The fact is - is that he has been productive with the niners and redskins. And he actually seems to want to play for his hometown team. And more than likely he will put more effort-in to try to make up for his critical mistake, so tell me why now - why would you cut a productive player that now has more motivation to work harder?
You're just hurting your own team- not making it better. And all of that to prove a point. |
Re: Release Josh Morgan or else....
Again, 5 targets 5 receptions, average 10yds a pop. That's good production and coupled with Garcon, or Hankerson if he plays up some, it's a good 1 - 2 punch.

But he doesn't have the football IQ to be a starter. Again, his real mistake yesterday was not turning inside and getting upfield for the 1st down, instead he drifted toward the sideline and lost yardage. I don't mind him on the roster, but he's not a starter. |

I don't think he has been anyway. On the depth chart it says he is, but seems like Robinson has been getting more play time than him, even before Garcon was injured. |

If I recall, and I could be mistaken, his injuries and their failure to use him correctly is what cost him his job out there. He does get a lot of YAC (which is what we need) and he, when healthy, has gotten a fair amount of catches / yards. Hopefully he learns from this because I do feel he can contribute to the team. |
