Roy Cummings, of the Tampa Tribune, reports the Tampa Bay Buccaneers met with free agent CB Charles Woodson (Raiders) Friday, March 24. According to his agent, he had a good meeting with the Bucs. "Charles said everything went well," agent Carl Poston said. "But I expected him to enjoy it. They have good people there and they all know each other." Poston said no contract negotiations have taken place, nor does he expect any until Woodson visits the Green Bay Packers next week.

first mention of woodson actually getting enough interest to make visits.

he did lead his college team from the CB position. on any team thats a hard spot to lead from though, and missing 13 games in 2 years doesns't help either.

When healthy he can still be pretty good, but like i mentioned, he's had some problems with that.

Michael Felger, of the Boston Herald, reports it was learned last week that New England Patriots OC Dan Koppen (shoulder) suffered a badly torn rotator cuff (in addition to a dislocated shoulder) in the Patriots' Nov. 13 win at Miami last season. The injury knocked Koppen out the remainder of the year and set him on a rehab program that has only recently seen him turn the corner. A source close to Koppen said last week that a full recovery is expected and that if everything goes according to plan. "My only expectation is that I will be 100 percent at some point," Koppen said. The rotator cuff injury is particularly concerning because Koppen's calling card is his upper-body strength.

those crazy pats sure do keep the lid on tight, considering this injury report is only about 4 months late.

Walker claims he'd rather retire than play a fifth season for the Packers. Green Bay is insisting it will not trade him.

Gary Myers, of the New York Daily News, reports the Dallas Cowboys made a late push to re-sign WR Keyshawn Johnson before he signed with the Carolina Panthers. Carolina was concerned about losing out to Dallas at the last minute, but Johnson took the Panthers' offer, which pays him $7 million this year: $5 million to sign, with a $2 million base salary.

I thought KJ would end up in dallas or carolina, and i guess that's where the interest was. and javon is still copping an attitude.

The Florida Times-Union reports free agent LB LaVar Arrington (Redskins) had a good meeting with the Jacksonville Jaguars Saturday, March 25, according to Jaguars senior vice president Paul Vance. "We like him as a player and we like him as a person,'' Vance said. Arrington stayed in Jacksonville Saturday night after spending the day with Jaguars' officials and was scheduled to leave Sunday morning, March 26. Arrington has indicated he's looking for a contract in the range of the seven-year $54 million deal that LB Julian Peterson got from the Seattle Seahawks. Vance declined to characterize the status of the negotiations except to say that talks will continue.

just cause one team is monumentally stupid doesn't mean another team will be as well. seattle could have gotten JP for FAR less (maybe even 35mill or less). Good luck being waiting for that fat contract though.

"Every time I mention Philadelphia, Eric's ears perk up," said Greg Johnson, who represents the 32-year-old Bills wide receiver along with his partner, Harry Henderson. "He wants to go to Philadelphia. He really feels he could help them. He loves the idea of being an Eagle and playing with Donovan [McNabb]." Johnson said he talked to Eagles president Joe Banner last week. He said there is "some interest" in Moulds by the Eagles, which an organization source also acknowledged. According to a source from one of the five teams on Moulds' wish list, which also includes New England, Seattle, Kansas City and Denver, the wide receiver is looking for a contract similar to the one WR Isaac Bruce signed with the St. Louis Rams two weeks ago. One source said the Houston Texans may be willing to pay Moulds the money he is seeking. Johnson confirmed that the Texans have expressed interest in Moulds. "They're very interested," he said. "There are other teams in the mix as well. We're going to play it by ear. We'll see what happens."

Before the Texans can work out the trade with Buffalo, they have to negotiate a new contract with Moulds. A league official familiar with the negotiations said Sunday night, March 26, that the Bills are asking for a fourth-round pick.

so moulds wants an isaac bruce contract (5mill a year/3years) AND he wants to go to the [b]Eagles[/b]. Someone needs an IQ test. nevermind that the iggles would have to also give up a 4th round pick.

Pat Yasinskas, of the Charlotte Observer, reports Carolina Panthers head coach John Fox has agreed to a five-year contract which will make him one of the NFL's highest-paid coaches, according to Panthers president Mark Richardson. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately available, but Fox should be receiving close to $5 million per season. Fox had two seasons remaining on his contract that paid him near $3 million per season. The new deal keeps him with the Panthers though 2010.

March 26, for failing to obey a police officer who ordered him to stop dancing on a street in South Beach, (Miami, Florida) police said. Police said Jones was obstructing traffic in the northbound lanes, and officers ordered him to get off the street. He refused and was arrested at the scene. Jones was taken to the station and was ''very apologetic,'' police said. Jones signed an affidavit with a promise to appear in court for arraignment.

At least one AFC team has started doing homework on Walker, probably to see if it's worth making the Packers a trade offer, but it's unclear whether the Packers will even consider dealing him. Packers' general manager Ted Thompson didn't dispute that teams have showed interest in Walker, but he said it stemmed from the receiver's recent public comments and not the Packers shopping him.

Johnson said, "It's not going to work out [with New England]. The timing's not right. The only way it would get done now is if it falls apart with these other teams, and I don't see that happening." He believes everything will be settled in the next 48 hours.

rushing usually means overpaying, and what is it that the pats just don't do? I don't see how this makes headlines or can even be considered interesting.

Those discussions have included former Packers head coach Mike Sherman, who is now on the Houston Texans staff. Walker, who publicly has threatened to retire instead of play for the Packers again, is under contract to Green Bay for the 2006 season. Packers general manager Ted Thompson said he has "received inquiries" about Walker and would listen to any proposed deals. The Packers have not publicly given Walker permission to seek a trade on his own.

Holmgren feels they should have used the franchise tag, but was already in Indianapolis for the NFL Combine when he fount out otherwise. Holmgren also feels the league needs to do something about poison-pill loopholes in contracts.

ESPN.com's John Clayton reports the New York Jets have reached an agreement with free agent CB Andre Dyson (Seahawks) on a five-year, $11.5 million deal, including $3 million in signing and roster bonuses. Dyson will replace CB Ty Law as one of the Jets' starting corners.

seahawks and titans were trying for him as well. 2.3mill a year for a starting corner is CHEAP (almost less than a drafted carlos rogers). Bad injury year for him in 2005, but a quality #2 that's only 27.

Uhh, they got a better QB situation than anyone will give em credit for. Martin can still run. They are weak on the line, which will limit their offensive productivity substancially.

Oh yeah, and they have to play the Pats and the Dolphins twice next year.

I can't see that team going anywhere.

Twelve other games though. Not saying they're playoff contenders, but I'm saying maybe around the .500 mark. Just as I DON'T see the Cardinals going anywhere with James. TO isn't the end-all solution to the Cowboys problems and I don't think James will be either.

The thing with the Cards, is the passing game was already there. Now the running game is, and this makes the pass game even better. Now, the defense is another story.

Honestly, I don't think their lack of a running game was the result of having crappy RBs (which did contribute) I think it's purely o-line.

Their O-Line is pretty terrible. But if you were to ask me to pick one guy in the league on any team to run behind a pourous line and still create a comprable running game, I'd take edge.

That sounds like a bargain. That's too bad. Hopefully, the draft will be kind to us in the CB department.
