All we can hope is history repeats itself...we do well in the regular season when we suck in the pre season...
One concern I have though - is the formula to neutralize Saunder's offense the same as the formula to neutralize Spurrier's fun n gun? Just blitz the hell out of the offense and give the QB little time to throw?
The main difference there is that Saunders' system has been tested in the NFL -- Spurrier's wasn't.
This sanity check came at the right time. Better to get exposed and humiliated in the pre-season.

Fauria's blocking sucks, but then again, the entire O-line has played bad today.
Regarding Spurrier & Saunders: You would think that after 20 (pretty successful) years in the league, some one else would have figured that out about Saunders, though.

I'm not going out of my mind crazy about this poor showing, but I am getting a bit antsy. Give us something. Anything at all.

Believe me when I tell you -- it was nothing special. Maybe it had something to do with his tweaked hamstring.

Honestly, there's not much to tackling Betts in the open field. He's more effective as a piledriver into the line between the tackles. Tonight though, even that didn't work.

Put it this way -- 48 yards rushing at the start of the 4th quarter.

Re: Redskins at Patriots Game Thread 8/26/06

I think they need to readjust the power tree of Offense. Let Al and Joe decide the Offense. Al is still an assistant. Let him brain storm and do his thing in the booth we are so deep on offense that we really have 2 teams of talent worth of backs and recievers. Let Al work up a play run it by Joe meanwhile maybe Joe sees his way and put that in with Al as a safety net. I think from what I see I prefer Joes running style and tempo with Al's pass stradegy alternating or coming in on plays that are above reach of our Run avg.

Re: Redskins at Patriots Game Thread 8/26/06

I dont think this OLine is trust worthy to of single man block interior and the edge guys need a clip or bumps from the backs. SO why are we testing 3-4 wide. THis team is horrible. They would be fine if we could have 15 guys out there to block.
