Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
You started off this thread saying Gibbs should step down.
Seemed like a pretty simple take, now you're trying to dance around the issue. Yes or No, very simple. I don't need to word the poll a special way to get anyone to vote with me. Face it, the majority of fans don't want him gone. Simple as that.
I proudly vote YES, although I would like to see it done with respect, asking him to retire. Although I think he may step down as HC after this season anyway. |
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
No, I think fair minded people would vote No to the last question I posed, while the same people would not "fire" Joe Gibbs. You hear what you want to hear Matt.
Fine I'll start another poll, care to wager on how it will go? |
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
so what you're saying is that we're content with being the Arizona Cardinals of the East. that's a shame!
When's the last time the Cardinals were one game away from the NFC Championship? We were there just last year. I'm not happy with this season either. But there's no one I'd rather have to try and turn things around than Joe Gibbs. If some of you guys had your way, we'd dump Gibbs and pick up the soon-to-be-dumped Dennis Green. Then we'd really be the Arizona Cardinals of the East. |
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
gibbs is the washington redskins.
Enough said. |
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
LOL yeah there's only two, thank god you guys found each other.
Again, you read what you want to read. Several people have sided with me Matt, but you get to make the poll so make it, Im just not gonna participate. |
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
everyone please re-vote on our new poll sponsored and perfectly worded for optimal results by paulskinsfan
|
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
The description under your name is pretty ironic, CC. There are still 4 games left to play but it's already "on to '07," but it isn't because the coaching staff is doing a bad job?
|
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
let me say this again...
HOW COULD IT BE ANY WORSE?! WE ARE 4-8! And 20-28 over the last 3 years. And we have the most talent we have had since the early '90's! also, as paulskinsfan said... we have to watch teams like New Orleans, San Francisco, New York Jets, etc, etc, etc have success with new coaches. I'm all for stability in the front office and coaching staff, but if and only if they prove that they are getting the job done! The 20-28 record is not because of lack of talent or anything else. It is b/c of COACHING! I am sorry, Gibbs 2.0 is a failure. What makes you think we will be able to go 10-6 next year with the same exact group and coaching staff? I don't understand the optimism! |

you changed it up on me mid-vote. Looks like my vote went in the wrong answer. |
Again, you read what you want to read. Several people have sided with me Matt, but you get to make the poll so make it, Im just not gonna participate.
Why? You started the thread and suggested that poll wording, here ya go. Don't blame me when the results don't go your way. |
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
Put the poll on the mainpage out of this thread so the masses can participate and let it go for a day or 2.
|
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
Question about the poll. Is this with the current staff, implying that all of the current staff remains in place?
|
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
It's fine here, it's on the main page as well. No need to start up a duplicate.
|
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
How about this for a poll, "Are you happy to watch your favorite team,The Redskins, go 24-28 (at best) over the last 3 seasons?"
|
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
I've read about 50 of these messages and no one has pointed to the obvious:
The GM. |
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
It's funny how Skins fans view Joe Gibbs compared to other legends in other cities. For example, here in Pitttsburgh. They have been calling for Bill Cowher's head practically the entire season, criticizing everything from his drive to his lack of "chin" this year. And he won the Super Bowl LAST YEAR! Gibbs last won a super bowl in 1991 and he gets this lifetime free pass. I don't get it.

Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
It says I voted "no", but I didn't.

Its keeping the current decision making entirely with Joe Gibbs, so selecting new coordinators or firing coordinators would be solely his judgment. |

Who else do you want calling the shots? Danny Boy? He sucks his last go around. The fans? You? lol |

The same thing happened in Fla. in 2000. Your vote is a hanging chad! |

me too |

Well I even out with one of you, because it says I voted "yes" but I didn't want to.

It's very technical

Ha, my problem was that I was voting based on the way the question was originally worded, but it must have changed right before I clicked it. Damn hanging chads. |
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
I reset the poll to 0 so there's no way there's multiple people under the no category that shouldn't be, there's only 2 no votes up there right now.
AMD I'll change yours, now 3 no votes. |
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
I'm really on the fence here, but I did vote no.
|
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
I wholeheartedly support wholesale changes in the roster and coaching staff. We, as an organization, have been far too patient and conservative in our offseason strategies. I think it's about time that we tried something new, like kick out the coaching staff and find some real nice free agents this offseason. Haven't we learned that consistency has killed this franchise?
I say we sign a HoF head coach, a offensive guru who's consistently produced top-flight offenses, and a defensive coach who's coached top 10 defenses. As for the players, we need a big-money defensive end, a big money strong safety to complement Sean Taylor, and another receiving threat who can complement Santana Moss. |
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
The critism that Gibbs draws is totally warranted. Let's get a couple of things straight: The Redskins had a good tradition before Gibbs came here in the 80s. George Allen took the team to the Super Bowl if anyone cares to remember. I think what Gibbs did during his tenure was cement the franchise among the greatest in football.
Secondly, there seems to be an attitude that because Joe Gibbs has three Super Bowl rings, he's beyond reproach some how. I just don't get it. In three years since his arrival, the offense has been sporadic and inconsistent. Al Saunders isn't the blame, Joe Gibbs is to blame. Daniel Snyder isn't to blame, Joe Gibbs is to blame. Gregg Williams isn't to blame, Joe Gibbs is to blame. Even when Williams fielded a top defense the past two years, we failed to give him an offense that could remotely keep pace and challenge to be a contender. You guys can say what you will about Gibbs, but the bottom line...THE BOTTOM line is he hasn't done a good job since he has returned to Washington.
then i guess he can always go back to his raceshop in charlotte then. thats just MHO thats all. oh yeah i voted no. |

AMD I'll change yours, now 3 no votes.
Thanks. I'm not trying to be an ass about this. I feel like 12th in that I am on the fence but I lean more towards the "no faith" side of the arguement. I love Gibbs and I'll always be grateful for what he was able to do for this franchise, but I'm just so sick of losing. Last season was great fun, but I really feel like we were very lucky to have had the success that we did and I think this year just proves it. We're in such a sticky situation right now and it really sucks. We all want consistancy for the future, but how long to we wait around? What happens if we finish 9-7 or worse next season, all while looking similiar to this season (in terms of penalties, lack of halftime adjustments, giving up big plays etc.), do we give Gibbs another chance in '08? At the same time, if it's true that Saunders system takes at least a season to master next year could be great. We'll probably come in under ther radar again, Portis will be healthy, and hopefully the defense will get their heads out of their collectives asses and start playing like they used to. So I guess that even though I don't have a ton of faith that next season will be much better I'd rather see the staff stay the way it is and pray that I'm wrong about them. Like everyone else here, I just want to see the Skins win. |

Gibbs won't go down losing. He will find a way. Last year we all thought the man was God when we won 6 straight, now you all are screaming for his head. He will find a way to make this team win. Then he'll be God again..... |
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
When's the last time the Cardinals were one game away from the NFC Championship? We were there just last year.
I agree with you on your Gibbs points and I think the guy who called us the Arizona Cards of the East is overexaggerating. But I just want to point out to be fair that 25% of NFL teams get within a game of the Conference Championship every year. 25% of the NFC gets within a game of the NFC championship every year. So while I think Gibbs should be commened for the job he did with the offense and turning the season around last year, but getting within one game of the conference championship isnt THAT great of an accomplishment. |

Then, I saw that you changed it, and I was going to vote again -- on the home page it showed the Yes/No radio buttons. But, I clicked to read the new posts and when I started reading the thread, I noticed that I was registered for a "no" vote. Maybe I did something wrong, maybe my browser is quirky, maybe it was the matrix. I don't care anyways -- I like to look at the results and see that the overwhelming majority voted yes, even though the no's had some help. :) |

Hess, I'm not screaming for Gibbs' head...and I'm not sure anyone else here is either, Paul included. I think there is a level of frustration with the current situation. We've clearly taken steps back this year. Whoever or whatever the reason, we've taken some steps back this year. I'm not sure that Gibbs can turn this around the way he wants with two years remaining. I'm just not that confident about it. And because I'm not that confident about it doesn't mean I'm flip-flopping or not loyal or all these other accusations that tend to fly around when someone mentions Gibbs in a negative light. If he finds a way, I'm in his corner 100%. I'll be in his corner 100% next year when the season starts. |

If anyone can do it, Gibbs can. I have faith. HAIL! :)

Last year I was screaming that I knew we would make the playoffs and I was brilliant. Like I'm the only one that thought the same this year?? Please. We all were screaming Superbowl. And I am VERY dissapointed. But that doesn't mean I don't think we can still win, becuase we can. Growing pains this year.... :( |
