Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2009
Actual cap is $127 mill so we really have 3.376 in space.
Anyone else suspect another round of restructures and maybe cuts on the horizon... |

Pretty hard to say what's happening... SmootSmack has kept the cards in real close since Friday ;)

Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2009
You guys don't expect them to sign a punter, Hunter Smith maybe, do you expect them to draft one? I don't know anything about Atterberry, but hopefully he's been so good that they felt comfortable enough to let Plackemeier go.

Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2009
Entertained by the fact that Todd Collins' cap number is higher than that of Jason Campbell's.
Boy, was that a waste of a contract. |
Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2009
Taylor's deal may still get restructured. Campbell was offered a deal, but he's kind of like Demetric Evans in that he's looking to play (even start) so he's shopping himself around some. I think he'll be back though
SS, how would it be restructured if he has a year left, would he be extended to another year? |

I don't know what's going on. I've been kind of sick this weekend...and I've had actual work to do (you know, the stuff I actually get paid for) |

Got it. Didn't realize I had to hit F5 for each tab. |

Boy, was that a waste of a contract.
I'm not sure that was a complete waste. He did win something like 5 in a row to get the team to the playoffs in 2007. If not for that, Gibbs 2 would have been a total flop. |
Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2009
This is off-topic, so i apologize, but i didnt want to start a new thread for a simple question and this seemed to be the best place for it:
Carlos Rogers claims in yesterdays Washington Times article that this is the last year of his contract - Yet thewarpath capsheet has him on the books through 2011. So what gives? Has he met performance incentives which void the sixth and seventh years of the contract he signed as a rookie? I realize Carlos isnt able to go anywhere if the CBA expires, but i'm just curious about this discrepancy. |

I was just surprised it was a 7 year deal. i think the maximum length of rookie contracts the league allowed was 6 years. Either way, theres no way we'll let him walk next year, so its something of a moot point. |
Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2009
Think we can lock him up now that we cut Taylor?
|
Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2009
With Taylor's release and the salary cap at $127.05M, I have us at $11.952M of cap room.

That number will probably be adjusted up another $1.5 million or so, once all the numbers are officially in for the adjusted cap number |

Top post in this thread was adjusted to reflect this. |
Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2009
One other thing, we've got Golston listed as a low tender. But just an FYI, while I've heard that, I've also heard that he received the 2nd round tender. If I confirm for sure either way, I'll let you know.

Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2009
Just found some info on the individual team cap adjustments.
The Skins cap limit went up by $1.427475M. I now have us at $13.380M of cap room. |

Schneed10, CrazyCanuck, SmootSmack, all you guys have done a great job keeping us well informed with what's going on. Part of the reason THE WARPATH is so great. You've put together something really good here Matty. |

Agreed.. I (and I'm pretty sure I can speak for most of people at here) would be totally lost and stuck in dark for whole time until signing occurs if it weren't for u guys.. Thanks guys! |
Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2009
Over 13M in cap space AFTER signing Haynesworth? Thats simply amazing. Thats enough we could actually afford to take the cap hit if we wanted to cut or trade some players.

Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2009
unless they have big plans, i don't understand why they cut jason taylor as well.

There are still some holes to fill, mainly at LB, RT, and possibly a punter. |
Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2009
welcome panda. Taylor didnt want to work out with the team and this team is now rid of two guys who always felt they were too good to work out and practice with their team in the offseason.
We could have something big in the works (like a trade for a big name player), but I think if we did, we would have heard some rumblings by now. I'm personally hoping we wanted to get rid of someone who wasnt worth their keep. Now, weve got plenty of room to make several acquisitions to improve the quality of the depth on our team and maybe even pickup a starting DE or LB. |
Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2009
Just got the salary info for Haynesworth and Dockery.
I still have Haynesworth at $7.9M but Dockery is now at $4.1M. Updated cap room: $11.08M |

Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2009
i thought they would be fine between jansen and heyer at rt. it would be nice to add a decent lb on the outside. i don't know why they cut frost last year.

They cut him for the same reason he was cut by Green Bay later on. He sucks. |

Because he didn't want to work out, so he doen't have his heart in the game. Read, Cooley's blog. Bill Parcels knew something about Taylor. I for one leaped pretty high when he was signed last year after we lost Daniels and still give credit to Snyder and Co. for picking him up. His heart's not into it so he has to go. BYE BYE |
Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2009
I'm a bit confused by something. According to the information on this site, the Redskins are 12-13M under the cap.
However, this mornings RedskinsInsider blog had this to say, Does T.O. Make Sense for Skins? - Redskins Insider
There's also the cap issue. We're still waiting to hear from league sources about the Redskins' exact cap number, but Cerrato recently said the team only has a little flexibility to meet its remaining needs.
How can we have 12-13M in cap space, yet have "little flexibility"? It just doesnt make sense. Any thoughts? |

I can only think of two possibilities: 1) The cap information here is incorrect (its my understanding the cap gurus here never had the actual contract information and were basing their numbers on how the skins "normally" structure deals). 2) The skins have "ear-marked" a certain amount of cap space for other purposes. |
Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2009
The cap info here is not official, but it's usually very close.
