Wow, now that would be cool. Only thing that would bum me out is not seeing him on ESPN anymore, easily one of my favorite analyst in any sport.
I saw him this afternoon and mentioned that to him. He kind of laughed it off. Would love to coach one day though. Not sure it will be now though |
Looks like Jerry Gray has been offered the Seatle job. Supposedly, he is not sure he wants it and the Redskins may outbid them for him to stay. Not sure for what. I would think that if this were true he would jump at it.
I don't think he was offered the DC job though |
Re: Coaching Staff update
Seahawks have hired Jedd Fisch to be QB Coach, so he's not coming here

Yeah, I think I was mistaken. I think he wasoffered the secondary coach position. That makes more sense, as to why he did not jump at it. |

He dosen't seem to think the pay for an inexperienced O-line coach would be in any way comparable to to what he gets as an ESPN analysis either. Makes sense to me. |

Then I guess the man has a decision to make. Stay in front of the camera and make the money he wants for the rest of his life or break out and take a pay cut now and buid a reputation for big money later. |

Spanos is being hired as LB coach and Olivadotti is being retained.

Still no O-Line, I'm getting nervous!

Re: Coaching Staff update
I'm going to do a little sucking up here since I'm so happy Dallas lost.
To TheWarpath, good job on the banner. To Snyder for giving TheWarpath some decent professional looking people to put a top it's web page. I think looking at the three they look professional. Well Snyder kinda reminds me of someone from the 70's who walks around giving the six shooter hello, but other then that they look great. Vinny was killing me with his deer in the headlights or pug looks he would give. Then there was Zorn. Hopefully the professional look carries over to the field. |

I, for one, am glad we did not promote this guy. Our secondary needs a new slap in the face. This guy wasn't gunna do that. Phew... and to think a bunch of you actually considered him to be head coach material...well...the NFL spoke and no one though he could even handle a full defense...good job new GM! |
Re: Coaching Staff update
Not unhappy about this. I think Gray may very well be a decent coach, but I think he was part of the drama here and am glad for all coaches/FO involved in that to be gone.

after everything that has happened as far as the Rooney Rule is concerned he needed to get away from here and obtain a change of scenary

Screw Gray, I am more than happy he left. He insulted Zorn the way he interviewed for the position. It was clear it was just to hire Shanahan, but stiil

I doubt it since he was a D coordinator since 99. |

I could never see where Jerry Gray did anything to make the players we had better, which in my opinion is what a coaches responsibility is. He had players (Landry) playing out of position, CB's playing too far off receivers and no versatility to his game plans, he played each and every team the exact same way, passive and predictable. |
Re: Coaching Staff update
Well, the teams that Hasslet coached seemed terrible , at least Grey had a couple great years as Defensive Coordinator.

That would worry me. Not because he wouldn't do a good job, but with Haslett on board we already have one former head coach serving as an assistant. Throw in a Mora plus Shanahan, and I worry about the "too many cooks in the kitchen" cliche. That's a lot of egos on one sideline. |
Re: Coaching Staff update
so what are the main positions the skins still need to fill?
please add or delete as needed: d-line d-backs o-line qb wr te |
Re: Coaching Staff update
found this at pft, so.......
Ex-Broncos defensive coordinator Bob Slowik is reportedly slated to coach outside linebackers for the Redskins, not defensive backs as was originally expected. |

How many linebacker coaches do we need?
 |
Re: Coaching Staff update
ESPN just said Nolan is out over in Denver. That was a bit of a surprise to me.

Wow, McEgo sure is bringing down the hammer. I can't wait to see him crash and burn next year. |
Re: Coaching Staff update
Wait I thought Shanny was bringing his old oline coach w/ him, no?
We need an intense, genius type as OL coach. I mean best case scenario that guy gets two young studs out of this year's draft, but he's still gonna have to turn some current guys into winners. |

I am not predicting it in anyway, but I wouldn't be surprised if he had Zornesque 2nd season. I looked at a Broncos site when we brought Turner over, to get a feel for if they were upset about losing him, etc, and one thing I noticed was how eerily similar a feel their site had to the Warpath last year at this time, some of the comments were true deja vu moments. |

Same here, how do you think I knew about the name McEgo :D Still you're probably right to trust your gut in this case. I mean lets look at the similarities. - Both won 6 games in the first half of their first season - Both had rosters built mainly by Super Bowl winners (ie Gibbs and Shanahan) - Both were considered QB guru's. - Both were young (well if you believe the perception of Zorn around here you would have thought he was 40). - Both got embarrassed by the Steelers at home on MNF which seemed to be the turning point of year 1 for both coaches. - Both finished 8-8 at the end of their first year. Still I feel sorry for Denver fans. They deserve better: Mike Nolan leaving Denver: confirmed - Broncos Country Message Boards |

That's interesting. I thought he was a decent DC. Atleast he had a better resume then Haslett. |

So I thought he might be brought over to work with our QB's for Kyle and get them up to speed on the plays. |

Rumor is he won't talk to Mike. Gibbs went to Seattle. Dennison (OL coach) got hired by Houston. Both of the best OL cut blocking coach's Mike Shanahan used are gone. That's why people are wondering who Shanahan will bring on board? We are kinda concerned. Who else is good at teaching the cut blocking scheme? |

Understandable, but what about surrounding yourself with good people? Gibbs had Bugel and Williams in his second stint, both of whom had HC experience. I don't exactly see anyone banging down his door right now to co-ordinate their defense. Taking a reduced role might be a good thing for him rather than taking a year or so off. Then again, he might just land that head coaching job in the college ranks that he has been looking for. Tennessee maybe? I know that he really wants to coach the Huskies though. |
