Oh. So the government can regulate your clothing b/c someone, somewhere has insulted someone else and your clothes may be seen as being insulting to someone who has been insulted before. The right to restrict your speech exists even though there is no proof that you have ever done anything insulting in your life - the government just thinks you might b/c you have exercised your right of free speech. They do it all the time. When it comes to religion for instance. Sexual preference. They need to do something about them damn abortion signs. Freaking chopped up babies them sick mofos. Gang colors Yee haw we all for harrassing them gangbangers or potential ganbangers or people wearing red or blue shirts, that live in certain areas and are from one of the most prominent ethnic groups.

In reality it is disrespectful to use the American flag to taunt people. Wearing an Amercian flag is not the issue. People make it seems like our American flag was outlawed or something. No matter what side of the issue you are on. Our flag should not be used to pick at people. That's why so many people hate the confedearte flag. I couldn't image crips allowing people to use their flag for anything other than representing their set. Wow, on confederate history day let's all wear Amercian flags to confront the confederacy. The vast, vast majority of Mexicans don't give a damn about Cinco de Mayo!! Look it up. In the USA, Cinco de Mayo is kind of like Valentine's Day. A corporate hype job to sell alcohol just like V-day is to sell cards/flowers/chocolate. Maybe the motivation of those kids who wore the American flag shirts was misplaced, but the bottom line is you should NEVER be sent home from school in this country for wearing our flag. Ever. Should the school have lowered the American Flag from their flagposts on May 5th? It would be one thing if some Americans living in Mexico City paraded around in those t-shirts. But this is the US of A. Under no circumstances should our colors be suppressed within our borders for any reason. St Patty's Day is a gimmick holiday in America much the same as Cinco de Mayo has become here; what does the Irish flag have to do with it? I was talking to a friend over the weekend who is half Bolivian. His Mom is a legal immigrant from Bolivia. She for this law and is also for enforcing Federal immigration laws, because she thinks its unfair to entitle people who are here illegally with the same benefits she and many others worked so hard to obtain. I will ask my Grandmother who worked hard to become a legal immigrant what her thoughts are.

Out of curiosity, are any of you are first generation legal immigrants and if so what is your attitude of this law?

i couldn't agree more.

and i don't know where everyone lives since some people don't have their locations listed but if you are coming up with your conclusions on these issues and you live about 50 miles or so outside of dc you really don't understand what is happening to cause people to wear american flags on cinco de mayo. you might think these kids are not on the "front lines" but you are wrong. just imagine how under funded the schools are there as well as here.

it is a shame to see what has happened to the town i grew up in over the past decade, i can't even tell you what half of the freaking stores are anymore cause nothing is in englis., and it's a shame where this country is headed. we need to get a real solution to the immigration problems and we need them now.

Something has to be done. Also keep in mind how the Hispanic/Latino immigrants must feel who came here legally? I have spoken with many who actually don't feel sorry for their brethren who came illegally. The individuals who came legally were probably waiting on a list for about 10 yrs to be allowed into the US. The illegals simply walked in not carring. Then the legal ones have to wait 5-10 yrs plus take a test to become citizens.

I've seen the annimosity from the Latino/Hispanic culter also. Basically it's not fair if one group of people has to follow the rules and the Gov. looks the other way at another group of people.
