Even the Redskins alumni are pissed at this fat piece of S., including my favorite all time Redskin (Arthur Monk).
. . . "Whether he likes it or not he made a commitment. He should be man enough to do that."
Bottom line, when has Haynesworth EVER conducted himself like a man? Stomping Andre Gurode's head, the reckless driving where he seriously injured a young man, the recent dumping of his pregnant girlfriend - he's unaccountable. He's more interested in collecting expensive toys than being a dominant player and winning championships. All that BS about wanting to be like Reggie White is just that, BS. Albert Haynesworth will NEVER be the player that Reggie White was. |
Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
i say bench him... we shouldn't make any rash decisions, take some time and think it over, weigh all the options. but when it's all said and done, i don't want anyone that doesn't wanna be here.
|
Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
what a week to be w/o the internet, i don't think we should make any quick decisions and just let him make more and more of an ass of himself, which should give us more and more ammunition to retreive some money back. theres a lot of time between now and training camp and a whole lot of time between now and the season. i say go mike leech on his ass and lock him in a dark room by himself everyday until he comes around. obviously they can't deal with him like an adult because he refuses to act like one.
unless he gives back over 75% of his bonus that he received in april i hope the skins just keep him and bench him i would hate to see him get anything close to what he wants. f you you fat pos, f you. |
Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
We hold all the cards so Albert can say he doesn't want to play in a 3-4 defense so what they paid you 32 million so far and you are under contract. We can fine him everyday he does not report to training camp until he shows, if he doesn't show then we can look to recoop some of his signing bonus. I would not trade him unless we get at least a 2nd round pick. If we can not get a 2nd rd pick then just keep him and force him to come to work and earn his money regardless if he likes it or not. If he becomes a distraction than get him on player misconduct and void that contract if possible. Why should we be surprised that Haynesworthless is acting like a spoiled child. We have people getting layed off from jobs and he is crying after making 32 million. What a Joke he is. If he wasn't playing football what the hell would he be doing for a living besides being a bouncer in a strip club.

Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
I have a theory that he was expecting to get traded so he didn't work out all offseason. Now he is out of shape and needed an excuse to not show up so he didn't look bad for not working out after he preached that he "knows what he needs to do to perform at the highest level". This will all be over in about two months (once he is back in shape). He will appologize and all will be hunky dorey, meanwhile no one will know that the real reason that he missed camp is because he couldn't keep his lips off of Mrs. Buttersworth...but I will know; do you hear me Phat AL? I WILL KNOW!

Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
The thing is after initially being frustrated about the switch, he came around to speaking to many of the guys at Redskins Park. Not the least of whom were Shanahan, Haslett, and Allen. And he told all of them, plus several players, hey I just want to help the team win and be the best player I can be. And after multiple conversations especially with Haslett, his attitude was "ok I think I understand what you want from me. I can do this. I like what's going on. I'm excited. I want to get in the best shape possible so I'm going to work out on my own in the spring but I'll be there for mini-camp." And he told that to multiple teammates, and he told it to friends and business partners outside the Redskins. That he had initial frustrations but after talking through it, he felt good.
But it turns out it was all a lie. Which is worse than just saying from the get go you want no part of it. And committing to that. I mean I guess you could argue he changed his mind back, but I'm not sure I buy that. Look at it like this. As pissed off as Snyder was with Coles; Coles ultimately did the right thing. He spoke to Gibbs and I believe Musgrave and Hixon and said look I don't know where I fit in this offense I'm not sure it's for me. They spoke, he still wasn't convinced. Gibbs said ok, I respect that, let's see if we can find a better situation for you. Coles didn't say ok sounds good. I'll see you in June. And then the whole offseason goes through and suddenly Coles is like "yeah I didn't mean it" Alls I know is Haynesworth has alienated many of even his staunchest supporters in the past couple of days
I guess I didn't really understand the Redskins fans who supported him until he skipped the mandatory practices. I thought some of them would support him no matter what. I was very wrong about that. Missing the mandatory work was the tipping point. I think that showed all of us that he did not intend to fulfill his end of the bargain and, with that realization, his support evaporated. In the end, we all care about the team first and that is a good thing. So, I don't think the Haynesworth drama is all bad. Just look at the unity of Redskins Nation right now! We think that we might have a good thing going and we're not about to tolerate anyone who might screw it up. It reminds me of the good old days of George Allen and Joe Gibbs. |
Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
I would go one step further. If I am Shanahan, I would actually use the media and teammates to antagonize Haynesworth. I would air all the dirty laundry, call him everything short of a d*&k in the media, and encourage teammates like London and Daniel and McNabb to tell everyone what a shit this guy is.
I would push every button that I could, legally short of slander, and antagonize this guy relentlessly. I would try and make this big baby so furious that there would be no WAY he would consider coming in for Training Camp. Make it so Albert would have to tuck his tail, swallow his pride, and show up for camp humiliated, and I promise you that he won't. He's too big an ego...too much false pride to hear all that smack and show up. Then, once he doesn't show, I would have firm legal ground to sue for the money and release him outright. He would be lucky to be picked up by a bottom dweller team for an incentive only minimum contract two year deal at that point. Stick it to him...
Honestly..I think the best thing to do is forget he is on the team. Shanny and Allen put a "no Hayensworth" talk on the team. Advise the media if they talk about Hayensworth, then the session is over. The best way to get this fat ass to either give the money back and get cut/traded or to come to work and play is to just pretend he isn't even a part of the organization. Business as usual at Redskin Park, play football with who we have, and just move on. When he realizes these guys aren't going to give in to what I want, then maybe he'll play, or maybe he'll give some or all of the 21million back and we'll cut him. I just think playing this crap out in the media, having all the guys on the team and front office and being all over the OTA's, the mandatory camps, the papers, ESPN, MASN is exactly what him and his agent want. They want it posted everywhere, talked about all the time so they can say "look at the distraction its causing, get him out of here or cut him or its going to get worse" Like I said, I would just act like he isn't even on the team until he shows up. |

Whether he was expecting to get traded or not he's a professional football player. That means conduct yourself like a pro and stay in shape no matter what your situation is. Anyone out there listen to Darnell Dockett yesterday on Lavar and Dukes? Now that is what I call a 100% professional stand up leader. A man's man. That is the guy you want on your team and in your locker room. |

We need the paparazzi to start following him around. Then we'll know what he's been doing. Maybe they can get a shot of him at the pool so we can see just how big of a gut he's got. Hey, I know it's a repugnant thought to do that to someone but he is a public figure and, as a famous sports personality, he's fair game. Jeez, I'm ashamed of myself. Edit: BTW, I wouldn't be a bit surprised to find out that the Redskins have private investigators following him around right now. If I felt that someone had taken my $21M check on false pretenses, I know I would be trying to find a way to get some leverage on him. I assume he's no saint. |

Well thats what happens when you (AH) are the one person who believes all of those JLC reports. I am sure that you understand that my post about him being out of shape was stated half-jokingly. I don't really believe that. I am just throwing some conspiracy into the fire, even though apparently I am not the first to do so. |

I dont think he would create all this hoopla and immense negative press and rep on his part just to not look foolish by showing up out of shape. That seems like overkill and you would have to believe that AH is working his butt off right now as i type to get in shape for next month. its about the money. he thought he could collect 32 mil for 13 months then bitch his way out of the skins and on to a new team to sign a new 5 year 60 mil contract. this was a money grab from the very start. as soon as danny and vinny put 32 mil guaranteed for the 1st year then having his contract drop to 4-6 mil for the remaining 3 years. Do you all honestly think AH came here with any intention of playing for 4-6 mil the next 3 years? the smart money is take the 32 mil guaranteed for 1 year, then bounce to another team and sign a contract that will pay you 10 mil per year. this 3-4 talk is nonsense. he doesnt want to show up out of shape is nonsense. AH IS ALL ABOUT MONEY. if he stays with the skins he gets vastly underpaid for the next 3 years when he is in his prime (29-32). by the time the skins can void his contract, the contract he will get at 33 will be paltry compared to waht he can get today at 29. if he forces his way out he gets 10-12 mil per year for the next 3 years plus signing bonus money. |

NO ONE. If he were able to get his freedom from the Skins (which he will not, unless he pays the bonus back), there isn't a GM in this league who would sign him up for anything other than an incentive laden pay-as-you-go contract. This would leave AH open to injury and he would actually have to "try" to play in order to reach incentives. No way that is what he is angling for. Dude is just a mental head case that is throwing a temper tantrum. Neither he, nor his agent, had any long term strategy in place to get more money. Plus, it's a stupid strategy, even if it were real, because he's not going to get paid in the free market and he can't keep his bonus money if he wants out. Lastly, if this was his plan all along, he would have NEVER converted his roster bonus to a signing bonus this March. A roster bonus is 100% unrecoverable by the team, whereas a signing bonus is subject to forfeit under the CBA. If he had a diabolical plot, he sabotaged himself by signing that contract conversion from Bruce this spring. |
Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
I actually voted to start him. I disagree that what he's doing right now doesnt matter, but the fact remains that Haynesworth is (when he wants to be) the best defensive linemen in the league. He's got way too much talent to bench, cut or trade (especially considering how little we could get for him in return). As much as I loathe his current attitude, I'm holding out hope that at some point, a light will go off in his mind and he'll realize he's not going to force his way out and he can either give this defense a try or cry like a baby. People can change. Portis has been a lazy bum his entire career here (off the field), but this year, hes practicing his butt off. He's motivated. At some point, maybe Haynesworth will start listening to what guys like Fletcher and Daniels and McNabb are telling him, come join the team, and give it everything he has on Sundays.
However, if the preseason starts and it becomes clear that Haynesworth simply won't be reasoned with, we need ot get rid of him so he doesnt become a distraction for the team. He needs to be with the team 100% or off the team by the time the regular season starts. My gut tells me the Vikings would be willing to trade a decent pick for him in 2011. This is almost certainly Favre's last year, and would be the perfect time for the Vikings to go "all in" for a superbowl run. |
Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
It's a common cliche, but it's true-all it takes is one guy (or in this case one GM). It's like Tim Tebow (with apologies to Mr. Scud). It didn't matter if 31 people said he's not a first round pick, all it took was one. Same with Haynesworth. All it will take is one

"When he signed, he said he wanted to prove everybody wrong," said Cerrato, the team's executive vice president of football operations during the 2008-09 seasons. "He said he wanted to show everybody that it's not about the money. He said he wanted to be the best that ever played. He said he wanted to be like Reggie White. He said Reggie White was his hero, so live up to what you said. Don't have it change just because a coach changed." "I just think Albert should have been here in the offseason, so he would have understood what his role in the defense was going to be," Cerrato said. "I think his perception and what reality is are two different things. They weren't going to just play him at nose tackle from everything that I read. And if he can't understand that then that's his fault. If he was here, he would know where he fits in. By not being here he doesn't know. All he knows is what he wants to know."
Well there's no way that donkey actually said these things. Cerrato isn't cognitive enough. |

"I mean, if you don't want to be there don't take the $21 million contract," Kevin Mawae told Bryan McGovern and Gil Brandt of Sirius NFL Radio. "How things turned out it's no surprise to guys that have played with him in Tennessee." (Translation? "Turd.") "You know, what do you say?" Mawae said, right after saying all that he needed to say. "I mean, you're getting paid a ton of money to play less and you're complaining about it. At the end of the day it's one thing to be a football player and get paid lots of money but there's a whole lot more to be said about being a man. . . . [H]e can be one of the best in the league and I've said that to him in his face before. But to this point he doesn't want to do it on a consistent basis." In this day and age of NFL contracts, there is only one thing that carries real weight with the player........GUARANTEED MONEY. Everything else is really just extra wording in the contract. For the most part, all they are truly concerned about is the guaranteed monies. They know that on any day of the week they can be released, but that guaranteed money does not go away. I dont think it has anything to do with playing for chump change over the next 3 years, he already got what he expected from the contract, that which was guaranteed. I could fathom him having a beef with the 3-4 because it would prevent him from reaching certain INCENTIVES in his contract. But all that really matters any way is the guaranteed funds. So, no I think it just Haynesworth being a d*ck. Cerratos quote sums it up nicely "Haynesworth did NOT sign a contract with the 4-3, he signed a contract with the Redskins." |
Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
I heard Zoe Alexander on Mike Wise's show today. Gotta say, he's one impressive dude. This guy has more integrity and character in his little toe than Haynesworth.
Anyway, he didn't dance around any questions about Haynesworth. In fact, he was joking about how his wife was coaching him on how to respond while they were in the car prior to coming on the air. Basically he said no one is on Albert's side on this one. He said the team is unified right now; it's Haynesworth against the rest of the team and organization. He went on to say that several players including McNabb, Philip Daniels, and London Fletcher, among others have personally talked to him over the phone recently and Big Al's not budging. He also said the only way he can begin to work his way back onto the squad in good faith if he shows up in stellar condition and worked hard as hell. Then he shocked me a bit by saying, even after all of that trust within the locker room still wouldn't be fully restored. It would take a long time for the guys to get behind Haynesworth. He also mentioned, yet again, how Haynesworth wasn't happy in Blache's defense last year. He really laid it out there and said that AH had poor role models or coaches when he was a kid that allowed him to do what he wanted and once he got to the NFL coaches continued to accommodate and reward his me first attitude. Zoe ended by saying he just doesn't see AH on the roster come the start of the season. |

Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
I really doubt the Redskins will recoup any of that bonus money unless they can absolutely prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Big Al just wanted to take the money and didn't intend on honoring his contract at all. If Big Al comes to training camp like he is saying he will there's not much we can do about it. The only way we'll actually see the Redskins get there money back and perhaps a trade out of this is if he comes in fat as hell and his poor work ethic gets him in trouble, like if he comes to work and decides to just take plays off instead of actually working out on the field.

Since we already paid him most of his money, could we just go ahead and put him on the bench for the next three years and effectively end the money making part of his career? Make him a backup. If he gets pissed at any time and stops reporting, we could then have a case to recoup the bonus money. He seems like enough of a hot head to play right into that.

I know alot of people are saying this, but I really dont like the idea. Having a guy like this on the team is a constant distraction and the media just loves bullsh*t like this situation. Id say trading for a solid player and maybe late round pick would be best case scenario. The player we get would most likely be upset as well and probably over not having new contract. If we do are research and add a quality guy, Id say go for it. If we could get like a 2nd and 4th or 5th round pick next year, Id go for that too. Just a straight release would be incredibly stooooopid. Thank god Vinny and Danny arent running this team anymore. Id go ahead rank this up there with one of their worst moves. |

The rumors start...
ESPN: Albert Haynesworth Headed To Seattle Seahawks AUTHOR: Andrew Auger | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: 2 Comments If you visit the NFL page on ESPN, the headline is there: “Haynesworth Headed To Seahawks” Plenty of speculation has centered around the Seahawks being a suitor for the disgruntled defensive tackle. There are no sources confirming a deal is in place, just a headline, calling it how I see it. The LenDale White release all started with a headline and no sufficient evidence to immediately support it. Something could be updated within the hour just like it was then; insider is generally diligent in updating the news wire. If this deal does indeed go down, it means they are likely out of the running for Bills running back Marshawn Lynch if there was even a chance they could get him in the first place. Regardless of your opinion on how Haynesworth has whined about playing nose tackle in a 3-4 after being payed $30 million for a season; he is still a game changing top five defensive tackle who would come to the Seahawks with a ridiculously reasonable $5.3 million salary over the next three seasons. If he dons the blue and green next year, be content, embrace it, and say hello to the best player on the Seahawks roster. Mr Allen has the upper hand when it comes to Fatal Bert. The team holds his contract, rights and disposition. Whatever the Skins elect to do will be just fine with me. Fatal Bert should be worried, the Skins orginization can do whatever they want to him! I'm simply lovin it!
Oh, and joe... go mow your own backyard. |
One of the best things about trading him or cutting him might just be that we wouldn't have to see "Fatal Bert" in any more posts
