Huh? If there is a cement-shoe statue in this year's class, Mallett is it.
Well to be fair Schuab isn't exactly fleet of foot either yet he has easily been the best QB in this system since Elway. Heck if anything his numbers indicate that he's better then Elway in this system especially when you consider the fact that he never had a running game until this year. |
Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
Can we draft a new owner? This so called rift between the owner, GM, and HC is really chapping my ass.
|
Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
Justin Blackmon staying at OSU

I knew Broyles would stay, figured Black would go but O well, good call btw |

That baldwin kid looks good maybe a 2nd round pick? I'd rather get Dalton in the 2nd though

what if they traded for Kolb ... lol

Lol, we need to stay away from Philly QB's from now on like they're infected with the plague. |

Baldwin's got issues. I wouldn't take him. If Shanahan wasn't willing to be patient with Thomas, he won't be with Baldwin. At least I don't think so |
Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
I'd be willing to bet Locker will be a redskin

In spite of Smoot's prediction that he will be gone by the time we pick I'm going with Newton. And it's not a want disguised as a prediction, I've really convinced myself that the team is going to draft Newton. |
Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
Do we need another AU QB?
|
Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
I guess I feel different about the whole team building process, but I'm a little concerned about addressing the QB with all the other major issues this team has. We don't have the ability for a young QB to come in and be a clock manager ala Joe Flacco, Mark Sanchez or a young Ben Roethlisburger. I would prefer to use this draft to address the d-line shift to 3-4.
|
Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
At this point I think if Robert Quinn, Marcell Darius, Von Miller, AJ Green, or either of the top two corners are on the board you take him, otherwise we trade down and try to add a lineman (maybe J.J. Watts), one of the other recievers (love to get Jonathan Baldwin), or Jake locker (but preferably in the second round).

Don't put that hate on me and the rest of the fan base. Just don't do it. :nono: |

Same here. This could be the linebacker version of what Sean Taylor and Laron Landry should have been. |

Uh oh, another sign of my prediction, which may I remind you is not disguised as a want.

Now that some are predicting it (I saw it in another mock) maybe you're just picking up the vibes of Shanny's first 2011 draft smokescreen? |
Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
AJ Green is going to look awesome catching TD's from McNabb next year !

Well it's not an exact science. But my early money is still on the team picking Newton. Just hope that he's more Big Ben then he is Vince Young.
AJ Green is going to look awesome catching TD's from McNabb next year !
Someones been hitting the bottle a little early huh? |
Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
HEY ! It's NEVER too early to hit the botle buddy !
I honeslty feel like McNabb will be back next year, and I'm hoping that we draft AJ Green because we need a big WR that can go up and snatch the ball out of the air. |

Yo do mean in Madden right? |
Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
all I have to say is if Shanahan drafts Newton or any other qb, he better do more homework this time around than with what he did with McNabb before trading for him - a lot more homework. Because he screwed up in a major way with that decision.
|
Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
The ol Madden joke. Seriously I think Donovan will be back, if not so the F what but I still want AJ Green at 10 if he's there.
|
Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
... because his career from this point on will be defined by what he does at the quarterback position.

I don't think anyone will touch him if this injury is as bad as some say. He won't be. We will be taking Von Miller at #10 and our defense will be a lot better for it. Especially RAK!! |

I like how this Andrew Perloff has the Skins picking a WR with their first pick. Wow, that would be the last position I would pick. Unless a franchise QB falls into the Skins lap at #10, they have to be thinking OL or DT I think. The often injured Malcom Kelly is still on the roster, in terms of big targets at WR. I say he gets one more off season to try to stay on the field and then he is outa here.
This has got to be a joke (regarding Blaine Gabbert), right? No way! |

Yeah but keep in mind Shanahan's scouting philosophy. He doesn't really worry about poor mechanics so much. He looks at the players' best moments and then he determines whose best moments are...best and then says I can coach that guy to the best of his ability always. So if, IF, we were to take a QB in the first round I guess the question is whose the best of the best when he's at his best...and who will be available |

When McNabb is "on" he is spectacular, so his "best" is way up there... AND McNabb was available unlike some other guys whose "best" is way up there too - - such as P. Manning, T. Brady, D. Brees, P. Rivers A. Rodgers ... |
Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
When the draft is concluded, here are three names I will go looking for. If any two of them are on the Redskins' list, I will think they have had a good draft:
S. Wisnewski - - center - - Penn State (can also play guard?) D. Sherrod - - offensive tackle - - Miss St J. Powe - - defensive tackle - - Ole Miss |
Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
I usually don't say this, in fact, I dismiss it from my vocabulary, Quarterback without a doubt. This is the time to do it because the rookie will have to learn the offense.

What offense? The two step drop? I say best player available minus TE. |

No one wants to give credit where credit is do, when Grossman took over the offense was productive. The best player available would be IMO a QB. Maybe we can put it off for another season but the law of averages says if we are rebuilding, go for the QB now. Select a OL in the second round. Get free agents and draftees to fortify the defense. |

From what I observed, Rex was no better in that category. |

It wasn't significantly better but the bottom line was it did improve under Grossman. I didn't look to deep at the numbers but in the final 3 games we had around four 3rd conversions per game. By the second half of the season we were lucky to get more then two with McNabb under center including going 0 for 10 in that Monday Night Blowout to Philly. Many of the games I'm looking at I'm seeing at most two 3rd down conversions. The Tennessee game was our season high going 8 for 16 but the inability to finish drives when McNabb had all day to throw killed us. In fact the only reason we won that game was because of two dumb penalties on the part of Tennessee in OT. By the way did you guys know that we were 2 for 10 against Houston while Houston was 6 for 14? WTF? |
