I wish this lockout would just end already, so we can find out once and for all about Young
Your killing me. I want the lockout to end also, but the more I hear about the VY crap I'm almost satisfied if the lockout stays in place so I don't have to hear that they are interested. I'm sorry, I just don't get the fascination with him. Yes he was a high draft pick but what has he done? please don't throw out statistics, where did "he" take the team? for some reason I recall him either injured or throwing a tantrum. for what ever reason prescription drugs come to mind also, but I could be confusing him with the Raiders ex-QB. Why is it that I feel like I'm the only one who realizes that no matter who we bring in to be QB they will not know the offense better then Grossman and right now not know it better then Beck. Whoever comes in will have to learn the system and playcalls, which McNabb is supposed to be such a good QB and he supposedly had a hard time learning all of it. I was not in favor of McNabb coming here but I'd rather the coach's kiss and make up and have him learn the rest of it and run it vs. having VY hear trying to learn the system for his first time and having to deal with his injury issue's and tempertantrums. Sorry I just don't get it. So he doesn't cost the team anything. Is there no one else out there that will not cost anything? I see no upside with VY. All down side. Just like Malcomb Kelly. Cut him already. |

But really, if McNabb doesn't live up to expectations as a professional, i.e. hasn't grasped the offense & still has accuracy issues, why would Young be any improvement? I realize they could keep him on the back burner & take their time w/him, I would just really be puzzled if Mike S. decided to keep him around. Young would have to do a 180 for this to be a good fit. On the positive side, the new regime will not throw $ & guarantees his way. Maybe VY's value is so low now that the Skins are looking to get him at bargain price, see how it goes in camp & if it doesn't work out have nothing to lose by cutting him. |
Re: Skinsfaninok's Available NFL QBs Poll
If VY ever matures and sets his mind on becoming a quality QB he could definitely be dangerous.

If the Shanahans have as much confidence in Beck as they say, you can let VY battle it out for the #2 spot until he is really ready to take the reins. If that doesn't happen you cut him loose with no little to no financial risk. It's definitely a low risk high reward type of situation. |
Re: Skinsfaninok's Available NFL QBs Poll
I don't really know how I feel about Young. But his upside, in my opinion, is higher than that of Beck or even Grossman.
I'm not sure McNabb will be back, but even if he did he's not the long term answer. Grossman I'm sure can be solid, but nothing more than that. Beck-if he is our starter I hope he surprises me. Because I still don't see what makes him great. I've seen greatness from Young, but he is unpredictable. Still, he is young and could potentially be the best QB we've had. And you know what my philosophy is with getting a QB-go big or go home! I'm willing to take a huge chance on Young than just go with the flow with Rex And then there's Alex Smith...ok, I'll stop |
Re: Skinsfaninok's Available NFL QBs Poll
I think a VY-JBeck camp competition could work well for the Skins. It costs nothing in picks (supposedly) for VY, and Beck hasn't truly won the job, but both seem to have reasonably high ceiling - extremely low floor potential. I think BA would write VY's contract to make it friendly for the Skins to go either way depending how the camp competition ended up.

That's what I was getting at in my last paragraph, I trust that Allen & co. will work out a deal that doesn't put much if any risk in bringing him in. That assumes of course that he can't find anything better. I would think that we could sign him to an incentive laden contract that we could get out of at little to no cost, but some team might give him some guaranteed $ right away. |
Re: Skinsfaninok's Available NFL QBs Poll
I'd rather see Kyle Orton under center for the Skins than any off the choices listed above. Seems like slim pickins - WHATEVER rules free agency falls under this year. Maybe we can snap up that Devlin kid from Delaware to push John Beck a little

Agreed on Orton over the polls choices. Trade Haynesworth for him! :D |

Sign me up! I was high on this guy coming out of college. He did rock out his rookie season. And was a big reason for the Titans season turnaround when he came in mid-way through 2009. He is FAR from a guaranteed lock, but definitely a potential stud who shouldn't cost much. Wonder if a VY for AH straight up trade is possible? |

Nope. Not sure there really can be right now Though I did hear, and I'm not sure this is is really possible so I'm guessing it's some nutty rumor that we could add 2 veteran QBs. Something like Hasselbeck and Young I'd imagine. I don't believe it though. I think the longer this lockout lasts, the more likely Hass stays in Seattle and Rex stays in DC. We add Young, Rex (or Beck) starts the season and by October (this is all assuming a full season), Young is our new starter. |

The Hefty Lefty? LOL. Yeah I'll pass. So from Grossman's interview with 980 (going on right now) it seems that Grossman is going to sign again with the Redskins. |

Well maybe he won't, but...as I said back in January http://www.thewarpath.net/774898-post321.html Skins are intent on bringing him back. At least they were 5 months ago |

I watched a couple of his California (PA) games on ESPN3. They did a good job of actually coaching him into a rhythm passer. |
I thought of not including Kolb, because I figure he'd run away with this. But I'd consider what you have to give up for him. Is he worth it vs. getting say VY for a late pick or even for nothing?
lol I'm an idiot. I'm thinking where's the list? I'm just not interested in VY. I'd take Smith over him any day. Everytime I think of Kolb I see a QB running around frantically trying to find someone to dump the ball off to. He just doesn't seem patient enough or accurate enough. VY will atleast stand in the pocket and take the hit, then limp off and throw a tempertantrum. As far as what the price for Kolb would/should be? I'd trade them AH straight up, or possibly throw in a 7th round pick with AH for Kolb. The Eagles want AH bad enough and need to off load a disgruntled QB then make it happen Eagles. |
