The Mustang Ranch was forfeited to the federal government in 1999 following Conforte's convictions for tax fraud, racketeering and other crimes. It was auctioned off and reopened in 2005 five miles to the east under the same name but different ownership.

just so you know, thats a myth about the ranch

I just heard that we have an Occupy group here in Norfolk Va. They say the porta poties out number the tents but they have been there for a month. I knew some protested but I did not know they had set up camp. Well if I decide to start smoking pot I know where to go to score some weed.

Re: 'Occupy' types

^^ that is exactly what i was talking about before in this thread.

you are better off being unemployed and being eligible for the govt assistance benefits needed to survive vs working a minimum wage job and having no govt assistance benefits.

thats what the obama health care reform is all about. i said it before, its about making healthcare an affordable reality for people making 24k to 40k a year.

and dont talk about having financial discipline, etc. on a $9 - $14/hr job you dont have $300-500 a month for healthcare no matter how frugal you are.

priv health care and govt assistance programs are effed up. rewards and encourages the lazy, punishes the person who has pride and tries to work . . . .

Actually Obama care does not make health ins more affordable it passes the cost over to the tax payers.

The original Obama plan did make health care more affordable by bypassing insurance companies. Then some folks in Congress watered down the plan.

He doesn't understand the reason the banks did what they did is because they weren't regulated. HERP DERP.

These are the jackasses we elect to office? Yeah, lets deregulate and let the free market decide. This has been great over the past decade or so in terms of disparity in income.
So if the hospitals turned him away who the hell did his surgery?
b/c he delivered pizzas he didnt qualify for govt healthcare.
b/c of cancer he couldnt deliver pizzas anymore.
since he didnt work anymore, he was unemployed.
since he was unemployed he now qualified for free health care through the govt.

its pretty simple and straightforward, but im sure you figured this out without me spelling it out for you.

[Actually Obama care does not make health ins more affordable it passes the cost over to the tax payers.]

i dont think anyone really knows for certain how the obamacare plan will shake out, but any person wanting to kill the idea with blanket unsupported one sentence absolutism isnt really open for honest debate.

the ppl who would become eligible for health insurance would be taxpayers. its about getting health coverage for ppl who work, pay taxes and make just enough not to qualify for govt assistance but not enough to pay $400 a month for priv insurance.

i spend alot of time dealing with hospital bills and records with my work, i have posted my ladies own chronicles and struggles of being a waitress and not having healthcare . . . .. NOT BEING ABLE TO HAVE HEALTH CARE FOR LOW WAGE WORKERS IS A HUGE PROBLEM IN THE US AND EFFECTS MILLIONS OF US TAXPAYING CITIZENS.

priv health insurance companies could do alot better job of their costs to reduce their rates but its all a cycle of each didferent industry scratchign each others backs . . hospitals, ins companies, doctors, ect are out of control and just passing the costs onto us will they make bank.

Re: 'Occupy' types

Some recent events:

Someone was shot and killed near OWS - Oakland

Man shot, killed near Occupy Oakland encampment | www.ktvu.com

Theres a chance that murder may not be related to OWS, but this shooting suicide definitely was:

After shooting, part of Occupy Burlington camp closed; protesters gather at church | Burlington Free Press | burlingtonfreepress.com

And unfortunately the protesters are resistant to health care providers and recently sent a EMT responder to the hospital after breaking his leg:

EMT Hospitalized After Scuffle With Occupy Wall Street Protester - DNAinfo.com

Meanwhile in OWS SoCal when street vendors stopped giving protesters free food they showed there disapproval by splatter a hotdog cart with pee and blood:

SoCal Street Cart Vendors Hurting After ‘Occupy’ Group Splatters Blood, Urine « CBS Los Angeles

However, using bodily fluids and waste to protest is nothing new as we have all seen the picture of a guy that took a shit on a cop car, and more recently and in addition to the hotdog cart attack a protester took a number 1 and number 2 on a bank:

#Occupy Protest in California: "Who Pooped on the Bank?!" | MRCTV

Apparently poor hygiene can result in a TB outbreak like we have at OWS Atlanta:

Tuberculosis Breaks Out At Occupy Atlanta’s Base « CBS Atlanta

And dont tell Deasel, but Occupy Denver has elected a puppy as its leader:

Occupy Denver Elects a Leader: Shelby the Dog - She's more like a person than a corporation, organizer argues

Good example of politicians taking advantage of their power and "insider" knowledge to gain monetarily. Truly sickening and the fact that they deny it and consider it consequence is humorous to say the least. This stuff happens on Wall Street everyday, but to think it happens on Capitol Hill is just bullsh*t. Surprised they dont have some laws to discourage it.

So the lady in a wig charges RP and people are supose to do nothing? Didn't we have a politician attacked an almost killed not so long ago. Yea, maybe the guy should have pushed down on her but that was far from a stomp. I'm sure there were some racist that joined in the TP but to say it was every single one of them is just stupid and a lie.

Re: 'Occupy' types

Unfortunately there were some racist that showed up to tea party events and said some dumb and bigoted stuff, however the core of the tea party was pretty quick to kick those type of people out. Most people in this thread have been ignoring the very present raciest side of OWS protests because like tea party it too seems to only represent a very small faction of protesters. So theres really no need to post a racist picture of a OWS protester for every racist picture of a tea party protester. Both represent the few stupid people in the respective groups.

While rapists and murderers also may not represent the OWS movement as a whole the severity of these offense is so great I think its wrong to ignore them or the overall crime element at these protests. I think this makes for great thought:

This is what happens when you allow people to just come and park their ass in the middle of a city in tents. I would guess that 99% of these people only are looking for change but their method is poor and draws the wrong crowd.

It is almost as idiotic as proposals by GOP front runners to close down commerce/energy/education departments and EPA/FDA, lower taxes, stop foreign aid, increase defense spending, lower the national debt and balance the budget.

For some reality is an escape.

This is a pretty funny read. It the minutes of a 3 hour meeting they had and got nothing done. It ends with the secretary getting up and just leaving.

Demands | Forum | Minutes of 4th Demands Working Group meeting | NYC General Assembly # Occupy Wall Street

Here is the last minutes of the meeting:

[At this point the police again intervene in the meeting. Facilitators come and do, old ones replace new ones who replaced old ones as we’re threatened with eviction from the space. The group, which has dwindled to half the size it was at 7:15 pm descends into fighting and chaos with nobody in charge and no minutes to keep. I stick around for another 10 or 15 minutes to try and figure out a way to keeping track of what’s happening, but cannot. The fighting and madness continues for at least 10 minutes when I inform facilitation that have to leave.

I also have to ask why they have to have their meetings in the street. Don't they know you can get a library card and they have meeting rooms you can reserve. Oh, maybe you have to have an actual adress to get a library card
