Why stop there? Let's use all of our draft picks on OL just for depth purposes.
Tyler Wilson's coming out?
Anyhow, my sleeper remains Tannehill. I mean sleeper in the sense that not many are talking about him as an option for the Redskins.
I forgot Tyler was a Junior. Is Tannehill really a sleeper? He's got as good physical skillset as any of the top prospects, if not better, and he's plays in the college version of our offense. |
I am pretty confident you are joking about this fact. I hope so anyway...
DeAngelo Hall (Hot or Cold, can't be consistent, gets burned too much) Josh Wilson (Hasn't played up to the hype) Kevin Barnes (Has not played well) Phillip Buchanon (Can't keep out of suspension)
Let's start by identifying the problematic areas this year: 1-QB 2-OL 3-CB I would draft a CB with the 2nd pick cause chances are you can get a starter than a 3rd rounder (Barnes as an example). |

Re: 2012 QB Prospects (Part 2)
Why isn't the QB from Okie St in the picture for us? The guy has a cannon and is 6'4". I think Weedlan could be a good NFL QB. Not saying we should necessarily put him ahead of Barkely or RG III on our wish list, but I haven't seen him in any QB prospect discussion yet, unless I bring him up.

Here's mine:
Here's how I rate this QB draft class/Redskins QB draft board: Luck Barkley Weeden Tannehill Landry Jones Griff Russell Wilson Overall: Griffin Luck Tannehill Weeden Jones Barkley Russell Wilson (would be much higher if he wasn't under 6')
|
Weedon is not a better QB than Jones not even close

Re: 2012 QB Prospects (Part 2)
I know it's age discrimination but I don't want a rookie 28 year old
|
Yeah not only that he's 28 but he's really not that great, good arm but can't move and makes bad decisions
|
Re: 2012 QB Prospects (Part 2)
Idk about ILB in the 2nd round. If Fletcher is gone it's worth it otherwise we have more pressing needs at RT, NT, WR, CB, FS.
I agree that CB is a greater need, but if Vontaze Burfict (the next ray lewis IMO) or possibly Donta Hightower are there, I say we get one of them. CB-wise, the only one that I want with my 2nd rounder would probably be Janoris Jenkins. I'm not that high on Alfonzo Dennard, Hosley I loved until he got compared to DHall, now I don't want him. Chase Minnefield is someone whose good but not great or anything. |

Plus he plays in the Big XII yuck. Should totally draft Jarrett Lee. |

LSU fan here and yuck. But why stop there?? Draft him and Jordan Jefferson after trading back into the first rd. |

I like it. After being harassed by SEC defenses they'll see NFL defenses as a sort of easy mode. |

That is either the greatest idea or the biggest epic fail since I watched that guy mop the carpet at the movies. |

This statement makes feel like the Jamarcus Russell situation would be the greatest move in NFL history compared to this. |

Are the Eagles looking for a QB? It looks as if they will be drafting before us.....
Are the Eagles looking for a QB? It looks as if they will be drafting before us.....
The Eagles need an offensive line, they will (and should) be drafting a tackle. I would imagine they go QB in the later rounds. As I've said before, Andy Reid's biggest mistake this year was to have a $2 dollar offensive line protect his $100 million dollar QB. |

I doubt it. I think, Reid or no Reid, they stick with Vick. |

Tough to say Ruh because Jason Peters has actually performed well, but they could use a top 5 pick on a yound stud LT and move Peters to RT...I reckon. Still, the Philly defense is in worse shap than the offense. I could see them look for the best DT or LB w/ the first pick too. |

Re: 2012 QB Prospects (Part 2)
Philly is married to Vick financially through next season, but I think at the time they did the extension it was obvious that no amount of year one regression could make Vick look like a non-option at QB for 2012. I really don't think Philly was caught off guard by the injury that cost him the last three games.
Going forward, quarterback has to be one of their largest organizational weaknesses, and I think their chances of addressing it in 2012 go up substancially if they divorce themselves from Reid. And to some degree, I think Reid's chances of returning are roughly based on whether or not they believe Michael Vick can win the super bowl on his current contract. If they are just going to use him as a veteran stopgap in a new scheme, there's no reason to let Reid pick the next QB, even though he's good at it. The Redskins of course aren't paying attention, but they should be. Just replace Michael Vick with Rex Grossman, Andy Reid with Mike Shanahan, and good with not good, and I think that paragraph could be re-written for the Redskins and be very relevant. |

Anyhow, let's try to keep this thread about QB Prospects, not the Eagles
Well, yeah. There's that. I think that one question that hasn't been brought up yet in this thread is which prospects in the upcoming draft would actually be better options than Rex Grossman as rookies. I think a big part of the philosophy that the Redskins will compete in 2012 is that we'll draft a guy who sends Grossman to the bench and Beck to retirement, and then we'll improve by 3 or 4 wins based that alone. But if the people who can do that are limited to being Andrew Luck or Matt Barkley, it would seem unlikely that the Redskins would be able to significantly improve on Grossman next year. Unless of course they go the free agent route instead/in addition. |
Re: 2012 QB Prospects (Part 2)
You heard it here first; Nick Foles will be the next Joe Flacco.
Flacco at this time when he was coming out was viewed as a 3rd rounder before combine, etc. Foles is right now. Both have similar talents and questions. Just a hunch. |

Atogwe. and listed as simply Safety is Doughty and Gomes. I guess they could play FS but Doughty sucks as FS. He's a SS. Landry is listed as SS on the website. So in reality we have Atogwe (who has not really impressed me yet) and Gomes (getting better). Comparing FS and CB the CB position is stacked. I'm not saying there's a ton of talent I'm saying they have bodies there. |

Just heard Dan Patrick speculate Matt Barkley will be a Redskin.

Anyhow, let's try to keep this thread about QB Prospects, not the Eagles
Not to be a jerk but is the thread "ONLY" about which college QB's the Redskins should take or is it a thread to discuss everything about the college kids possibly declaring and possibly which teams will take them? Because I'm sure several of us probably mentioned that the Colts would more then likely take Luck....which means we ALL have done exactly the same thing. My point is another poster asked would the Eagles be looking for a QB. To me it's relevant. Is it not? I mean if they end up with a worse record then the Skins and pick prior to the Skins, then we fans should be taking that into account also in regards to whether we will even get the QB we would like the Skins to take. We certainly are taking the Colts and Luck into account, Miami into account, why are we not allowed to take the Eagles into account? |

Going into the season I never, ever would have thought the iggles would possibly pick before us and I still don't really think it will happen but certainly the possibility is a big deal. |

There's big questions with them, but it appears to me they could be on the list for a QB as well. If the HC is fired, Vick never healthy, Young sucks, I see them needing a reliable QB and if one of those big names is sitting out there when it comes their pick... I think they pick a QB. |

I can see this happening but it's still hard to imagine they won't win another game or two. We play last week of the season though...could be crucial draft order situation! |

Yes, yes it is. |
Re: 2012 QB Prospects (Part 2)
As much as I want a QB with our 1st pick, I think it is counter-productive to plan on any particular person right now. After the season ends and we see where all the chips have landed, sure. Maybe to get Barkley we would have to sell the farm to move into position. Maybe we can get a franchise QB standing pat. Maybe someone offers us an incredible deal to move into our slot. A lot can happen between now and April. Shanallen did alright in the last two drafts, I think we can be patient and see what they turn up in this one.
With that said: I hope we get Barkley or Griffin. |
