Re: AFC/NFC Championship Game Thread
3 of the last 4 Super Bowls we have beaten the winner or the runner-up and it should be 4 of the last 4 if we didn't buckle against the Saints in 09!! SMH

since the colts bears super bowl, we've played the super bowl champion... |

Devin Thomas sighting, but don't worry: no catches.

I'm sure when the Pats drafted Brady, they weren't thinking that he was going to be their franchise QB. That being said, I do think the Skins need to get the best QB they can draft and stop trying to get quick fixes. |
With Eli having 58 attempts this game, the Giants are HARDLY a run first team anymore.
Yeah, they were pass first, pass second today. Niners best against the run though. G-men do pass it around a lot. |
I have to go with the Giants. But I feel like NE wants to play the giants for revenge, plus the pats now have the upper hand since they lost the first time (just like the Giants in 07)
Brady can cement his legacy by beating Peyton's little bro in Peyton's house;) |

Or Eli can one up his big bro in his own backyard. Either way it's an interesting night for Peyton. |
Re: AFC/NFC Championship Game Thread
The Giants win over 49ers was a fluke. A pure fluke. Just like their win over the Packers a week ago was very much a fluke. 4 years ago, I actually rooted for the Giants against the Patriots because the Patriots were undefeated and they had ripped apart the Redskins in New England. Now, I'm hoping that Tom Brady and the Patriots destroy the Giants in the Super Bowl this time around.

It sure is. I just don't understand you guys. Lose to us twice, including a terrible loss at home where it looked like Coughlin was done... and then basically have 5 straight playoff games and win them all. Giants might be one of the most mentally tough teams I've ever seen. Gotta tip my cap to those guys. They earned it. |

I think DT has found his nitch in the NFL. He's going to be a back up wr and a standout on teams. |

Whatever he is just a special teams player not like it was Pierce. Last night he was in the right place at the right time twice, good for him but we are not missing him. We needed him to be a stand out WR. |
Re: AFC/NFC Championship Game Thread
As far as Baltimore I think today they feel much like Houston did this time last week. The better team lost at least for that day.

Re: AFC/NFC Championship Game Thread
Interesting take on yesterday's games by Rich Tandler:
"Eli Manning is getting a lot of kudos and I suppose he deserves some of it. He was getting smacked around pretty hard by the Niners defense and he kept getting back up and pitching. But he averaged a pathetic 5.4 yards per attempt. And if poor, sad, sick returner Kyle Wi had not give Eli a short field by fumbling punts deep in 49ers territory not once but twice the Giants would have been shut out in the second half and overtime. He and Brady will both need to up their games if we’re going to have a compelling Super Bowl. That the two quarterbacks were credited with “wins” yesterday shows just how useless that concept is." |

I agree but Balt. has no one to blame but themselves. |
Re: AFC/NFC Championship Game Thread
I can't believe the Giants are in at 9-7. Crazy. Well, I was rooting for the Ravens but at this point I just want a good game, which I think we'll get. Just glad I'm no longer up in CT having to listen to all these Patriots and Giants fans

And here is the list.... Lee Evans (not securing a TD catch he had in his hands) Joe Flacco (not running for the first down in the play afterwards) Billy Cundiff (missing a chip shot FG and bailing out the previous players from criticism) |

All the Ravens fans have long faces today, I was like cheer up at least your team is not the Redskins. The Ravens are built to be a good team for a long time. |

Re: AFC/NFC Championship Game Thread
Spooky:
In 2007, the Giants started the playoffs by beating an NFC South team. Then they beat the No. 1 seed on the road. Then they beat the No. 2 seed in the conference title game when the foe turned it over in overtime and gave the Giants a short field and the Giants won on a Lawrence Tynes overtime field goal. Then they moved on to face the Patriots in the Super Bowl. In 2011, let's see ... NFC South team, No. 1 seed, No. 2 seed, overtime, turnover, Tynes, Patriots. Check. One more thing: 2007: Giants lose to Washington 22-10 in Week 15. 2011: Giants lose to Washington 23-10 in Week 15. |

As they say it's not how you start but how you finish. The Giants finished strong. I kind hate having to root for them, but I'd rather see the Giants win it all again over the Patriots.

Re: AFC/NFC Championship Game Thread
Gtone Congrats again! Big win yesterday.
Don't know why some one would say the GB win was a fluke. Gmen outplayed the Pack. Rodgers and the WR played piss poor in that game. Yesterday was definetly a tight game in which the Giants capitalized off of a young man's mistakes in the PR game. |

You can have him he is a bust and just got lucky yesterday. If you look at his stats even his ST play is not so special. He has a total of 5 tackles this year and I don't even think he is ranked in Kick returns. I'd bet that he is not even on your team next year. |
Re: AFC/NFC Championship Game Thread
Agreed. Giants would have lost if the ref's would got that right
Well you could also look at the play where the Ref call the Giants TE (I Think) out on his reception. It would have been a 1 st down in the red zone. |

I think the missed FG is the story that will be forever tied to this game. Even Brady admits he stunk. |
I think the missed FG is the story that will be forever tied to this game.
Even Brady admits he stunk.
Brady struggled yesterday. Ravens were really sitting on the short stuff and they can't really throw deep to any of their wr's. NE really needs a true #1 that can stretch the field. I think we'll see them go after someone during the off season. But for the SB they need Chad Johnson to be involved in the game plan. |
