I agree. Which is much of the reason why I can't stand him. Last seasons, "this is our house" speech that NBC decided to televise was beyond obnoxious...

when i had to give the rah rahs on any team i played with, i was as cold as possible. i never said any of that lame jazz "protect our house" blah blah blah. i just expressed my feelings with few words. and in 6 years, my teams never lost a home game

Interesting. I always got the impression on game days that Tony was a leader.

Your speeches must have been the sole reason for that impressive win streak for sure! ;)

i dont know why the packers would franchise a back up QB, its not like Rodgers is old and about to retire. i hope the do franchise him and then no one signs him and are forced to sign him to that tender. its got to pretty high number for the franchise tag on a QB.

But you also have to look at it from the team's perspective...there is a market for Flynn so I am sure they want to get something for him.

Although, I guess teams can just wait it out and play chicken with the Packers and not have to give up any picks for Flynn.

Why would you be happy? It's funny how long has played in IND and no backup QBs under Peyton Manning have been coveted. It's quite the opposite with Brady and Aaron Rodgers. Wonder why?

true there is a market for him, but he has played in like 2 regular season games. for a team to give up a #1 for him and then pay him is a lot for a relatively unproven QB.

I think this has to do more about coaching, rather than the QB. Also, one of the failures of the Colts FO over the past couple of years is that they haven't improved their team much and depended on Manning to ALWAYS carry the team. Their defense didn't get any better and their offensive players basically were made better by Manning.

I guess my question is...do they have to trade him for a 1st rounder? And actually that's a question that I have for the more knowledgeable folks: Can a team tag a player with a first-round tender and then trade that player for a 2nd or 3rd rounder?

Probably because they haven't bothered putting anyone worthwhile behind him.

Curtis Painter?
Jim Sorgi?

C'mon.

That's a good question. But Im sure Flynn and his agent would be pissed if he did get tagged and if no traded for him that's a lot to give a backup QB for one year.

While I believe that players often do not make coaches, there is a confounding variable with regards to Indy's backup QBs, which is the competence of the backup. Manning had talentless trash behind him.

Sure. Happens all the time.

For example, we traded a 3rd and a 4th for Brandon Lloyd who had a first round tender

Don't worry I'm not going anywhere. I'm fully healthy and willing to restructure to help the team. Not ready to concede my starting job to the pothead quite yet.

I'm just wondering how much of a bidding war Dallas could get in? the last time I heard they were over the CAP and were going to have to figure out how to get below it. I can't imagine the few cuts they have or will make is going to give them as much ammo as the Skins to get into a bidding war.

Unless the Drew Brees thing drags on and they need their tag to keep from losing him. If Brees is signed soon then Nicks probably gets the tag and they likely lose Colston.

Nicks is a great guard, but A) I'm happy with Licthensteiger and B) he doesn't fit the ZBS

Would rather have Grubbs out of the two. Cheaper and damn good to boot, the interior of our line would be via the Ravens. Don't mind making them weaker in the process.

Nicks is good but on Sirius NFL radio the other day he stated he wanted to be the highest paid guard in the league in so many words.

Last time we signed a big name free agent Guard was when we picked up some guy named Randy Thomas. Worked out pretty damn good especially considering how many times we've missed in free agency.

Grubbs would be a hell of a pickup.
