I'm affraid Miami will take him. I think they are interested in Weeden also.
Weeden will be fortunate to be picked at 26, no way he's going at #6. Would the Rams trade down twice, how are they getting to 5? Vikes will take Khalil over Blackmon, LT is a bigger need for them than WR. If we are at 6 with all of those players off the board, I could see (in a major reach) Tannehill at this spot or a trade down. We really don't need to stockpile picks again this year, not with 10 2011 draftees expected on the 2012 roster. |

Are you friends with Fred Davis and Trent Williams by chance? Smoke buddies perhaps? |
Re: Eight QBs and Where The Latest Rumors Have Them Going
Does anyone have the chart of the value of each draft pick for trading? I assume it's changed since the new CBA and made the top 5 draft choices a lot more valuable.
|
Re: Eight QBs and Where The Latest Rumors Have Them Going
I could see Kalil and another LT being taken in the top 5.
This could end up being one of those drafts like a couple of years ago. It was the year we drafted Rak, were we saw a couple of teams reach for Oline because there was a run on the top OL guys. There is really good talent at the G and T posisitons this year. |

Re: Eight QBs and Where The Latest Rumors Have Them Going
?
Look folks. "IF" the Browns are infatuated as some say with RGIII and they really want him... they are going to get him. Right now they are in talks with the Rams, but lets say the Rams are like "no, we want to draft a OL to protect Bradford", fine then the Browns are going to start talking to the Vikings because they are not going to let the Skins jump ahead of them and take RGIII. The Browns have the most ammo, the Browns will trade with whoever in order to get RGIII (if they want him) in order to keep us from getting him instead of them. I'm sure in the perfect world they too would love for him to fall to their draft pick, but he won't and they too are worried we will step up and make a play with the Rams so you might as well figure they will make a better offer to the Rams. I just don't see RGIII falling to #3 or beyond. If the Rams don't want him then they are going to go out and get the best deal they can get whether it's with the Browns, Skins, or Dolphins or any other team for that matter. The Browns just have the most ammo right now. My terrible Mock: 1- Colts-Luck 2- Browns- RGIII 3- Vikes- Blackmon 4- Bucks- Claiborne 5- Rams- Kalil 6- Skins- Weeden I know this is not everyone idea and not mine either but I believe if we don't take him at #6 and trade back which is what I want ... This is what I've been trying to get at when I say I don't believe the gap between RG3 and Tannehill is huge
At QB, it's a matter of value - Rich Tandler's Real Redskins
Most say it will cost this year’s first- and second-round picks and next year’s first, and perhaps more, to move up to draft Griffin. Instead of the Redskins making that move they could take Tannehill with their own pick, the sixth overall. So, it’s not a matter of Griffin vs. Tannehill. It’s Griffin v. Tannehill plus whoever the Redskins could get in the second round this year plus the player they could get in the first round next year
|

Over the next 10 years the extra cost is marginal...what's important is that they get the QB they believe is the better one. If in their evaluation the grades are very similar then picking Tannehill and keeping the extra picks is the right move. Basically, I don't want to hear that we got our 3rd favorite QB but look at this lineman we got. No more settling. Franchise QB trumps all other needs... |

if they are high on Tannehill and he is the QB they are targeting they might have to take him at #6. cant trade back to far in the 1st round, because still have dolphins and seahawks looking for a QB. |

That's what it boils down to...your scenario makes perfect sense as long as you believe there is no significant gap between the QB's. There's just no way to sell that plan to someone who is convinced there is a gap. |

Depends on what those other picks turn out to be. In your scenario you have the better QB, but the team might be stronger overall with RT and the picks. |

If they value draft picks, keep them and draft without reaching so far. To argue your point why not consider drafting RG3 versus Weeden or Foles or Wilson and the other selections they'll have without having to trade away plus the added picks that could be picked up if the Skins decide to trade down? Now the value is put on the the talent and skill gap... |

Sorry but an elite QB doesn't solve all of our woes. Giving up 2-3 starters, 2-3 potential pro bowl quality starters, is a big price to pay. If MS decides it's worth the gamble I'll get behind it, but there's more than one way to approach this. |

It doesn't solve them but it sure does mask them. Ask the Colts, Patriots, Giants & Packers. We can't try and plug every hole and build a completely solid team and get by with okay QB's like we did in the 1980's anymore. You will start losing them to free agency before you ever get finished. Those days are gone. Just get the QB and get in the game. |

Who says Tannehill can't be that guy? All the teams you mention are/were still stronger across the board than we are right now, especially in the playmaker department. |

However, if the Redskins thought Tannehill had as good a chance as RG3 then I would be okay with drafting him instead. Unfortunately we have to decide what we prefer without the luxury of knowing what the Redskins think about the prospects. As far as the other teams I mentioned...Probably but I believe that our playmakers would look better if we had a better QB. Plus we have 49 mil of cap space to add to what we have. |

Yes, I want that "franchise" QB, but I won't be sad either if we stand pat and use our picks wisely or trade back. |
Re: Eight QBs and Where The Latest Rumors Have Them Going
The redskins looked like a mediocre or average team when fully healthy and turned into a below average team after taking some hits with injuries. The injury bug is going to happen every year, so what if we draft RGIII but then lose a starting WR, couple OL and a TE? IT would be nice to have some quality depth.
At first, I was all for drafting RGIII, but sometimes I get to thinking about the cost & I wonder if it is worth it. |

Given their willingness to trade down and not to reach for a QB in the past two drafts, I think the team is not willing to bet the farm for a QB. Now I do think our cap space and a young free agent class may allow the Redskins to do this. But it would not surprise if they don't do this. Personally, I just want to make sure that they don't once again put a lot of draft/FA resources on the defense (and none on offense) and that we don't have a repeat of last year in terms of QBs. |

I just want them to get their #1 guy and i don't really care about the cost. I am tired of the Redskins settling at the most important position in sports. If they accomplish that then i am fine if they need to settle for a little bit weaker starter at a couple other positions. |

It only seems like this because we have a massive hole at qb, which just so happens to be the most important position on the field. Damn I hope we solve that problem this year so we don't have to put up with it again next year. |

Re: Eight QBs and Where The Latest Rumors Have Them Going
When you evaluate the QBs I think Griffin should be rated higher then Tannehill.
But that doesn't mean that Tannehill can't become a franchise QB. I also think people forget that were talking about the top prospects. The physical, tangible difference between any of the draftable QBs isn't as large as people like to think, even though the difference usually means several drafts spots and sometimes entire rounds. The difference between the QB is greatly exaggerated. For some reason the prevailing logic seems to be that because Tannehill is the 3rd rated QB that he can't possibly be as good as the 2 QBs rated above him. But just ask Josh Freeman or Joe Flacco etc...Dan Marino.. |

If RG3 comes as advertised, then yeah, Tannehill lacks the ability to be a better prospect and a better QB down the road. If RG3's draft stock is inflated though, then you could see a reality where Tannehill actually becomes the second best QB in this draft. This particular draft is so deep at the position that I'm not sure I'd want to bet everything on someone with the skill set of Griffin OR Tannehill without knowing exactly which direction I'd want to go with my franchise first. Foles throws the ball from the pocket a lot better than Tannehill and could be available a round later. |

I'm hoping the Skins call a few teams bluffs and RG3 falls into their lap at #6.
