We have 40 million cap room this year, we are losing 36 over the next two. So say we take a 20 million hit this year and have 20 left to spend this year. Then next year we are going to lose 16 million again. Oooooor was that sarcasm that snuck right by me?
Someones gotta help me out. I thought the team was around 36-38 mill under the CAP. Then I see the team is 30 or 31 mill under the CAP. Now you are saying the Skins are 40 mill under the CAP. IS THERE AN ACCURATE # WE ALL CAN AGREE ON? |

Roger?
Deep throat here.....They're saying they didn't get your text for the Cap Payback... Right, Got it! I think it's BS to. I know, I know....I told them.....again about the power of the force and....and all that. Can you get Irsay to tweet a little sumthin' out there and and maybe back date it? No huh..... Right, warm up Commiss 1, lay out your cape, notify the other 30 owners for operation "Crush Dan in DC" Meanwhile....The Dan descends into the Dancave deep beneath Redskin Park accompanied only by the ghost of Jack Kent Cook (and his Psycho wife), his trusted Johnny Rockets mgrs and a list of his favorite 27 lawyers.......... THIS is a NEW record for offseason Skins fun! GLAD to see the Skin NOT take this shit. Kick Rogers ass all over this and IF it has to happen, go down......SWINGIN' The Redskins are never boring. Re: NFL taking away Redskins cap space
The more I read about this, the more I'm convinced that eventually the Redskins will win out in the end if they fight it hard enough.
But from a purely competitive standpoint, they'll help the Cowboys more by fighting than they will help themselves. |

So in reality the League broke the law and are trying to make the 2 teams who chose not to collude pay a price. Um, where is the NFLPA? shouldn't they be crying foul of some sort? against the other 30 teams? |

Every contract entered into by the club during the applicable periods complied with the 2010 and 2011 collective bargaining agreements and, in fact, were approved by the NFL commissioner’s office. No, don't forget that we have two years to honor this "punishment" for not colluding. Let's say Redskins sign a few players within the next week, as far as the league knows the 'Skins will deal with the cap space next year and not this year. This will give the Skins all season to fight against it, but then if they lose they just created a cluster****. |

Re: NFL taking away Redskins cap space
Ok, so on CSNWashington they have posted what the NFL League had announced...
The Management Council Executive Committee determined that the contract practices of a small number of clubs during the 2010 league year created an unacceptable risk to future competitive balance, particularly in light of the relatively modest salary cap growth projected for the new agreement’s early years. To remedy these effects and preserve competitive balance throughout the league, the parties to the CBA agreed to adjustments to team salary for the 2012 and 2013 seasons. These agreed-upon adjustments were structured in a manner that will not affect the salary cap or player spending on a league-wide basis
So if the league is announcing this, and no teams were named, and the Skins did not receive any notices from the League, is it safe to say that the Skins were not one of the teams punished or one of the teams having their CAP adjusted? We weren't named We know nothing about an adjustment |

and I've never heard the NFL to approve something then come back a year or two later and say "oh although we approved it we are going to have to punish you because other teams didn't do this and it's causing a parity issue." Simply hold an owners meeting and make a rule that says it can't be done in the future. How are they going to all of a sudden after the fact say oh we gotta fix this so everyone is happy and only 2 teams are going to pay for it? |

Re: NFL taking away Redskins cap space
We are screwed. The RG III deal is negated somewhat now. Yeah, we might have our boy, but now we have to cut bodies and no longer have a nice pot of money to get FAs with. Rebuilding just took a big hit if this crap is indeed the NFL law of the land. No money to really shore up the o line or defense at this point, and we will need to make some cuts that we don't want to make. Depth took a hit as well. The next two drafts will be just enough to maybe get some decent backups for depth, but beyond that forget it. I sure hope our scouts did a bangup job this season so we really draft smart.
No we are not screwed. We just need to resign Fletch and get a receiver.
I agree. They need to find better value and sign more cap friendly alternatives to guys like Vincent Jackson. While I agree we need to add a WR, I don't think that receiver needs to be all-world. If we get good play from the QB position, the WR production will improve by default. Maybe an Eddie Royal in the slot instead of Moss and someone like Josh Morgan to compliment Hankerson and Gaffney. I think we'd all like to see them better utilize Cooley and Davis. WRs are a nice to have. Teams regularly win Super Bowls without GREAT WRs. See Steelers, Colts, Patriots, etc. Brees makes weapons out of anyone they trot out on the field. With maybe the exception of Hines Ward, none of those teams will put any WRs in the hall of fame. And the O line gets a bad rap. The sacks weren't outrageous last year, especially if you eliminate the 10 sack game that I would lay at the feet of John Beck. Grossman had plenty of time to throw downfield, but routinely underthrew his receivers, and there were plenty of running lanes for Royster and Helu, even with our makeshift line. They could get away with 1 free agent WR and 1 free agent O-lineman and look for some sleepers in the draft. I'm pretty sure they racked up the most yards since 2000 last year. Despite all his skills and potential, RGIII is still a rookie and will experience some growing pains. Let's get through this season, make the best of it and continue to build around RGIII next year. Go young and build for the long haul. I'm not stressing. |

sounds like, from Bruce Allens statement we're going full steam ahead into FA, cause we haven't been notified by the league ;) |
