Poor Matt Barkley. Kiper had him believing he'd be drafted high, and even convinced him that he'd gone in the top 10 after Luck/RGIII. Must be hard on the ego after so many people pumped you up only to drop like a rock.

I do think he made a mistake by not coming out last year. I think his stock would have been higher.

Re: Draft talk rounds 2-3

So where do we go tomorrow? Trade up with a sixth since we have two 5s and grab a safety?

Amerson's problem is with his eyes, I don't know how that would transfer to FS over a CB. I like the idea of a big corner. I would now say that CB is lookin good and competitve. You could almost say it is a strength now that we have four potential starters. Good competition is a big plus.

Realistic chance of finding a starting FS this year in the draft 25-35%

I did hear we cleared 2 mil of cap space by restructuring JW's contract. Maybe they have thier eye on a FA FS.

What about the ones on the west side of the field??

So one extreme to another.

Got a feeling the guy will be productive, but I could see suspensions In his future.

Nice video. Amerson was a great choice, very athletic. He looks like a HB returning those picks.

Great post. I'm excited about amerson, he was one of the DB's I wanted besides badger and the CB Taylor from BSU.

Just watched some highlights and video on Reed that dude is a match up nightmare beast and two tight end sets with him and Davis are going to be great. Bye bye Niles

Watch the first video entitled David Amerson Ultimate Highlight Video.

Dare I say that he plays alot like our last 6'2 defensive back. Fast, powerful, a knack for the ball, and aggressive. Like what I see there. If he can play that fast and instinctful in the nfl he will be a beast.

With his size and speed Amerson is going to be a beast on corner blitzes and we all know Haz loves those.

Reed was a great pickup, but this probably means goodbye to Chris Cooley for sure.

I could see Reed being a hybrid player in that he can line up at TE, WR, and in the backfield. He could be good in our system, definately has potential.

A healthy Davis and this guy could be, like some else said a matchup nightmare.

Very happy with Amerson, still trying to process taking a TE so early.

I didn't watch the draft; is Phillip Thomas still available?

Cooley was gone regardless. Hell, the only reason he was back last year was because of Fred's injury. We probably can say goodbye to Niles Paul though, unless Mike decides to keep 4 TEs.

I think this also shows Fred his time here is short. Reed is faster than Davis, and doesn't have that achilles injury that'll hamper his speed. The writing is definitely on the wall. Fred's last year here.

I could see Paul being gone if Davis is close to healthy.

Honesty I would have rather had Terrance Williams if he fell to is there, but oh we'll.

Yeah i didnt get to watch. I was surprised too but hell with davis's injury/issues - and who else - obviously cooley doesnt have it and paulsen is just a stop gap - so what the hell if this guy can be a safety valve for Griff than thats great. I want ray ray armstrong tomorrow. Dude was a beast at miami and is completely flying under the radar.

If he hasn't already been taken I'd love to see us get Ryan Swopes. Good size, speed and really good blocker. Works well with running QB's. I'd expect him to rotate with Santana to keep him fresh throughout the season and replace him in the slot after this coming season.

Why get rid of Davis? If you do that, you will have to draft another TE in the near future. Niles Paul isn't a real TE, and Cooley was just brought back as an emergency. I made the comment about CC, because this is probably it for him. For the better part of the decade, Chris was one of the few consistent bright spots for us.

WAY overrated; I'll be very dissapointed if we pick him in the 4th. Rambo or Williams are better players and better fits for us IMO.

Whoever gets Phillip Thomas is one lucky team. With him and Amerson, our secondary would go from one of the worst to the best. Not hating on Rambo, Williams, or Shamarko, but I definitely want Thomas.

Re: Draft talk rounds 2-3

Feeling really good about tonight's picks. I know everyone is clamoring for a safety or another CB other than Amerson. However, we drafted some crazy athletes tonight. Kipeer said it best, Amerson had a bad year last year and he had 5 picks. Good luck for linebackers and safeties having to cover both Davis and Reeds. Shanny put on a draft clinic tonight...you never reach for need...BPA is the way to go. Oh yeah an I get all of the ranking systems for prospects but Am person was without a doubt best CB just Twp years ago and would have easily been a top 15 pick in last years draft...and we got him at pick 51....Draft so far is an A for me!!

Very possible that the #Redskins will carry 4 TE's on the roster. Did a few years ago Cooley-Davis-Sellers-Paulsen. One would also b/u at FB[/quote]

the problem is that darrel young is legit and that its hard enough to find him enough playing time as it is. considering cooley doesnt want to play for anyone else but the skins, his playing career is over. i think the biggest concern should be that theres a chance paulsen and paul will be given an equal chance to battle it out in training camp, when everyone knows paul should just be cut loose. what do you do if paul has the special teams edge over paulsen?

2013:
davis
paulsen or paul
reed

d young

I have watched his film and I'm not impressed. Is he the worst FS? No but he is a mediocre tackler and played in a pretty weak conference. If Thomas is that "incredible" why is he still available after 99 picks?

Huge value and solid insurance for Fred. Forget insurance, there's a 1-2 punch and another weapon for RGIII.

I'm excited about Amerson too. We can move Hall to FS where he'll excel as a ballhawk and not get burnt. Amerson has size and a nose for the ball.

Great picks so far!

Doesnt the same apply to Rambo or Williams?

Last I checked, everyone picked after 99 is, in fact, picked after 99...
