Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?
I'd like to see what Bruce Allen can do for the team with a full salary cap intact.
No way we should fire him before we see those results. One more year minimum. He's done a great job considering the circumstances with what he's had it work with AND clean up after Vinny left. Allen can't be blamed for what Haslett has failed to do on defense (I still think we're better suited as a 4-3) and Kyle's pitiful playcalling and mis-use of RGIII. Mike and Bruce stay, new OC and DC.
Allen's not getting fired |
Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?
Gonna be a ton of new faces next year. The one area of free agency that is very weak is receivers. Just based on who projects to be available.

Good article about what the Skins are doing or not doing.

As OC or HC? He'd be entertaining for sure. I think he's enjoying himself too much in the booth to come back. At least he'd love our QB if he came here. He loves everyone's QB. |
Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?
I wonder if Dungy would be willing to listen to an offer.

Lets wait until after the next 3 games to see. Maybe we can make a run

He would want the franchise to change it's name. |

Yeah I think TD has said we should change it
So the first Division Championship since 99' is a wasted season? No wonder you people hate Shanahan. Its like you expect 2 Super Bowls for every season for it to considered a success. You are calling a playoff game the most disappointing stage in decades. How is being in the playoffs disappointing?
Didnt get into the playoffs by anything other than RG3 ruining the season? Are you choosing to be stupid or does it just come naturally?
Can't argue with that. |
I think it was our offer- He was given all immunity and power, something he didn't have in Denver. Mike essentially is the boss of BAllen in that Mike has final say. Wow a parent takes their kid to what could be the highlight of their career? Now I've heard everything! Way to take the job seriously there Shanny! How dare he want his family to enjoy in his success?!?! |

Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?
I'm not crazy about replacing our "message hasn't been effective in a decade" coach with another coach who is going to have to struggle through the same thing.
A lot of the best coaching talent is in the college ranks right now, but I wouldn't mind bringing a coach back for a second tour as head coach as long as it's the right fit. No more than 4 seasons as a HC and recent employment (and success) with an NFL team are some simple qualifications to look for. Shopping in the failure bin could be a wise move, as long as it's a relatively short track record of losing, and not a career-long epidemic. |
Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?
I had them at 7-9 or 8-8 before the season, I just don't see how people think this team had the talent to contend.
|
Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?
I don't have a preference for HC or OC but as DC I would love for Kevin Greene to come here.

Isn't Dungy on the name change bandwagon? It's hard to see someone coming here when they aren't supportive of an organization because of its' name. |

I guess because the same team won 10 games last year and we were getting some injured players back. |

But then you look at the NFC west. Speaking of NFCW how do you evaluate Fisher so far? I wish Mike would take initiative though. Replace Haslett with the best DC available even if he runs a 4-3. Replace Kyle with the best up and coming OC, including college coaches. Show the players you will choose team over nepotism an they might come around. |
Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?
On the other hand when you're the 2nd worst team in the worst division in pro football (5-14 against non division opponents) and you've had basically total control the last four years, it's hard to argue you deserve another year.

Well he is in the opinion business these days. Who knows how strongly he actually feels about it. Would it prevent him from even listening to an offer? Who knows. |
Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?
Dungy vs Jon Gruden?
|
Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?
Honestly I'd take Jay Gruden over Jon.
Highly doubtful Jon would even come back. |
Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?
At this point, I think at a bare minimum for Mike to keep his job is to fire Haslett, Slowik, and Burns at the end of the season. If I'm Snyder, I tell Mike either he makes those changes or he's out the door too. The defense hasn't gotten better, the special teams got worse, and Slowik continues to shit up any position he's allowed to coach. First it was the DBs, now it is the LBs. This is where I stand on this.
Truthfully, I think Kyle needs to go if him and Mike can't get their shit together on what should be the plan for our offense. For the record, I think Mike should have replaced Haslett after last season regardless if we won the division or not. |
Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?
Honestly I find it hard to bitch about Kyle the last 2 games. Funny, RG3 played better the last 2 than all season would help that perception.
Slowick never gonna leave Shanny. |
Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?
I'd like to see the team go in a different direction, I realize the Zorn fiasco still lingers, but I am against having a retread coach. The team needs a clean slate. I'd like to see the team hire a talented coordinator either an OC or DC and see what happens.
|

Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?
At this point I'd still bring back Mike but with the caveat that he shakes up the staff and makes some changes.
|
Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?
I just don't see DS firing Mike he likes him too much, I would bet MS resigns before getting fired.
|
Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?
He wanted 5 years I say give it to him. Let him make some staff changes and have an offseason with a good amount of cap room to make some moves. If the team gets off to a good start next year sign him to an extension. If not he can walk at the end.

I'm inclined to agree but reluctantly. I'm pro MS but my support is barely holding on and it's more from a stability standpoint than anything else to be honest. At this point however, I can't see how Haslett survives, nor Burns. Lots of people want Kyle out but I don't see that (unless he leaves) nor do I think that would make much difference in improving our fortunes in 2014. I can see massive turnover on the defense with many starters (Fletcher, Wilson, Bowen, Merriweather) moving on and a whole new ST crew (PR, KR, P) outside of Forbath and the return of the LS. They need to upgrade the WR group (again) replacing Morgan, Moss and Robinson. |

I don't want to see this team blown up again. I don't think it needs to be blown up. Bring in a better defense coordinator and special teams coach, and this team is a consistent playoff team. Mike has done more for this team than what people realize. |
Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?
Guys sorry but the .420 win percentage in year four, enough said. It is time for a new direction. I don't think there is harmony between the head coach/OC and our QB. Now the QB should not be running the team, but that needs to get fixed in particular since a king's ransom was paid to obtain the 'franchise QB'. I don't think the Shanny's are the answer, to bad there is not a Marc Trestman clone out there.
|
Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?
I'm all for Mike Shanahan staying, but Haslett has to go.
|
Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?
I am with Matty that MShanahan should be allowed to finish his 5 years if he chooses to stay, but at this point, I don't think any other coach's job should be safe, including Kyle. At the same time, the offense has shown it can get the job done most games, so any wholesale changes should be on the defense. ST is imo mostly a function of coaching whatever group of players best fits from the group of guys that make up your 46 man active roster.

I let him walk now or extend him, likely the former. I don't go into next off-season with a lame duck HC |
Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?
I have a question... Haslett has the ability to run both 3-4 and 4-3 is there a reason we don't use part of both like the Jets?

Why not a one year extension and have him resuffle the coaching staff and give aj smith more input with regard to personnel decisions and collaboration
