Better late than never and good to see Goodell taking some blame.
Honestly this is a start, but not good enough. NFL instead of shunning NCAA as usual, should reach out to them to adopt some type of uniform/umbrella policy. If you follow college sports this has been a hot button issue within their ranks the last couple years. If your 18 your an adult, even in college; thats seems to be where these behaviors develop. If the school/conference is going to "cover" for their star athelete to do whatever... I actually got to know a girl back in college who was sexually assaulted at Va Tech by a football player and transfered to where I went to school because of how strong the football player was protected by the institution. Pretty sad all the way around. |

(Although, interestingly enough, the "banishment from the NFL" is subject to appeal after a year, so despite the fact that many media have used the term, calling this a lifetime ban is inaccurate.) The NFL is setting a more stringent standard for player behavior than has ever existed in any professional sports league.
[YT]P3ALwKeSEYs[/YT] Sucks that it took Ray Rice knocking out his fiance to get this through though. The part that scares me though is was it implemented because they realized it was the right thing to do or was it more a business decision? It's kind of sick when rules promoting the most basic of social conduct are only passed because someone in a suit was scared of making less money. I will say this though, I give credit to Goodell for admitting he was wrong. I've never had to do it myself but I understand its quite difficult. I didn’t get it right. Simply put, we have to do better. And we will.”
|

How does Manning have time for this? Shouldn't he be watching film and studying the playbook? What a loser.

Re: Around the League...Training Camp Style!
New York is great place for professional athletes, in part because they live in a major media center. NY players can get national commercials even if they suck like Eli did last season.
But who cares how many commercials Eli does. He doesn't even need to practice, as far as I'm concerned. I just want him to continue tossing up interceptions. Eli ought to do commercials for interceptions. In this one, he plays the role of a waiter: "My name is Eli and I'll be your interception server today!" "Hello, Eli. We'd like to order a serving of Eli picks for each of our games against the Giants this season. How many interceptions are in a serving?" "One in the appetiizer and two in the entree." "We'll have the entree, please, but could you bring us one pick early in the first quarter, deep in your territory? We'll have the second one late in the fourth quarter, please. Thank you, Eli." "No problem. I'll be right back with your first pick." |

Re: Around the League...Training Camp Style!
So who do you want Houston to start? Mallet or Fitzgerald, or whoever there preseason qb was?

Mallet. I still think he's a scrub.
So who do you want Houston to start? Mallet or Fitzgerald, or whoever there preseason qb was?
Man, if Houston starts Mallett day 1 with barely any time to even look at the playbook, they gotta be insanely desperate. They weren't looking too good already with trying to ride Fitzpatrick through the year, but starting a young impressionable qb a week after bringing him in is one of the worst things you could do in the NFL. |
Re: Around the League...Training Camp Style!
^ yeah hard to imagine Mallet starting week 1.
|
Re: Around the League...Training Camp Style!
Disagree, this move was clearly done because Texas fear our stifling, steel curtain Defense.

If he maintains this current level of play, he will be one of the best ever. Of course many things can change. Best player that isn't a QB in the NFL in my opinion. |

They're going to play Fitzpatrick Sunday. We need to get after his ass and empty the playbook with blitzes. |

Best player that isn't a QB in the NFL in my opinion.
I would argue that Watt is the best player in the NFL right now. There probably are a few QBs that would have bigger impacts on their team record, but in terms of talent and skill, I think Watt stands alone. |
