Got this from a post on ES.

CK hasn't done much recently on the field and does big splashes with media -- but at least he's been healthy & knows how to slide.. Not my ideal QB, but at least I wonder if he'd be better than RG3. RG3 seems to attract negativity, media mishaps, injuries, and clashes with coaches -- all of which I'd rather without...

Would be horrible if the Eagles got him, somehow I'd be afraid they'd make it work.

He's a very good fit for the Eagles, IMO. I wonder if the 49'ers would want Foles as part of a trade with the Eagles.

Did you know that Chris Baker and Terrance Knighton are literally best friends? Chris went to a Broncos playoff game to support Terrance. Here's what Terrance had to say about that per 24/7 Sports:

“That’s my best friend,” Knighton told denverbroncos.com before the game. “We grew up together our whole lives. He just said he wanted to come and see a game and support me.”

“We’re family. I don’t see it as a guy from another team in the stands watching. I just see that family’s watching,” Knighton said. “He’s up there with my mom. She’s known him since he was born. I’m just looking forward to seeing him.”

So Big Swaggy is recruiting Pot Roast to the Skins. This fits well with my Master Plan to have an all-world nickname team here in D.C.

Don't know much about him, but it appears he is a solid player and a "true" nose tackle at 335 pounds.

Unlike others, I have no problem with the 3-4 and think in the modern, pass-happy NFL the flexibility of 4 LB's is the better base D. At the same time, you still have to stop the run, and we simply have not had a nose tackle who clog the middle. I liked Cofield, but he was not a plugger. I think Baker is developing into that (at 325 lbs), but Knighton seems to [I]be[/I] that already. Plus, having a rotation of Knighton and Baker would also give us some real flexibility in short-yardage and goal line situations.

Knighton may be a bit expensive (~4.0M/year) but, if he is what he seems to be, I would be okay with him.

So, with McCourty gone, who is left at safety? To me, this is our biggest FA need, even more than RT.

Is Searcy (SS, Buffalo) worth his likely cost?
What about R. Moore from Denver?

It looks like there are a lot of "Just-A-Guy's" out there. Yes, most anyone would be an upgrade but don't think it wise to commit any big money to average joe's just b/c we are desperate.

I think Baluga is going to cost top dollar but, if we can make it a long term deal, it would be worth it to have bookends like T.Williams/Baluga for the next three years (at least). Also, Baluga can swing to LT if Williams gets hurt.

Not thrilled with a Baluga signing, but not opposed either. He's young and good. It lets Moses develop and be ready to step in.

We'll see.

Baluga would be a great signing, IMO. He's only 25, so he could be penciled into the lineup for 6-7 years.

Baluga at starting LT money with a contract that requires him to renegotiate or be cut in 3 years is [I]not[/I] a great signing in my book. It may be a desperation signing and secure us a good player at a position of need, but it would continue the ways of paying great money to good players.

You may be right on Moses. You may be wrong. His pros are mostly natural, uncoachable attributes (prototypical tackle strength and length) while his cons are mostly technique related (bend at waist, balance & pad level issues, bad footwork). How about we realize players like Moses are exactly the type of guys we need to give room to develop and properly coach up. Getting these mid-round (3-5) picks to be valuable contributors over time is what builds winners.

Say we sign Baluga, he is penciled into the starter role for a minimum of 3 years. During that time, Moses spot starts or otherwise steps in short term and plays well - shows real growth. After three years, we are stuck renegotiating with Baluga while Moses enters his 4th year and walks in UFA (ex. Jeffrey Parnell). At some point, we need to have the patience to develop these picks who may take 3-4 years to develop. Otherwise, it's the same cycle with new names.

Great post. Could not agree more. Bulaga would be nice but not for his price. We draft guys for a reason and that means a lot more now than it use to.

Paea can bring some rush and play all 3 downs. Knighton is probably the better player against the run but he's a 2 down guy.

I would guess DE, with Baker at nose and Hatcher at the other end, assuming no other moves are made along the line.

I would like to see both Knighton and Paea come in. Need to rotate to keep fresh anyway. Baker as the top replacement for all 3 spots along the line would be adequate depth.

Keim tweeted out Paea is a different position from Dan Williams...so obviously we still are still pursuing Knighton, Williams and any other potential NT.

Im sure if McC thinks Shelton is that good, he wouldnt pass him over, but it seems he is setting himself up to take Gregory, Ray, or Beasley with that pick.

What if we sign Paea [U]and[/U] Knighton (as Schneed suggested), then draft a top pass rusher for ROLB? It could happen. That would give us a much improved front 7, IMO. We'd still need an ILB but, other than that, we'd be set up nicely for quite awhile.

Depending on what Paea and Knighton cost, I wouldnt mind that either. Given that Bowen and Cofield are aging and had a lot of injuries the last couple of years, I think it could be a decent upgrade to our defense.

Before the recent spate of signings, Bulaga was seeking between 7-8M/year from G. Bay. After back-up like Parnell just signed for ~6.5M/yr, however, I can't see BB signing for less than 8M/yr and, as there will likely be some type of bidding war for the best young tackle on the market, I fully expect it to go up to $9M/yr.

Why do you think Green Bay's letting him walk? They drafted and developed him, and they still don't want to pay 7-9 million or whatever it's going to be. Why should we? Chances are he wouldn't play as well here anyway, on top of already being overpaid.

The Jaguars can have Parnell for 6.5. They're the Jaguars.

I agree on Parnell and I was not advocating signing BB for the money he wants. In fact, I think we shouldn't. We need someone at RT and he is the best option out there, but he is also an expensive option who likely retards the development of Moses. I was simply responding to this:

GBay would love to retain Bulaga, just not at LT money and more than they pay their current pro-bowl guard. Also, GBay is hopeful that their recently-drafted-in-the-3rd-round back-up tackle (who was developing while BB was playing) can step into Bulaga's place without too much of a drop-off in the O-line's effectiveness. Throw in BB's injury history and GBay is content to let him walk.

At 7M/year or more, I suggest we follow their lead.
