As soon as Capt Kirk struggles, and he will, like all inexperienced QBs do, Griff will be put in. Maybe not his first game or second game but sooner or later. Yep this will be Gruden's last year as coach. |
Re: Cousins to start 2015 Season
I have to say that I actually agree with some of the points made in this video...

Re: Cousins to start 2015 Season
Lots of thoughts going through my head here.
It's really hard to believe that the team truly thinks Griffin is the 2nd best QB on the team. This could be: - They're saying he's the 2nd team guy in an attempt to keep trade value higher - Snyder and Allen could be forcing a compromise (God I hope not), saying fine you can start Cousins but no way we're deactivating Griffin - They're concerned about a legal grievance from the player's union, in the event they deactivate Griffin each week, could the union argue that they're not being fair in ranking him as the #3 QB and doing it solely to prevent themselves from exposure to $16M of injury risk I hope it's the first one. This whole thing, ugh. |
Re: Cousins to start 2015 Season
Lastly, could they be close to a trade with a couple teams, so they're just paying lip service now knowing that they could move him very soon.
If so, that would have to be for a ham sandwich, the $16M option makes it impossible to move him. |

LOL. Anybody else think how that whole concussion thing played out is a coincidence? |

At this point I would litterly take a Ham Sandwich in trade for RG3, just to get the circus out of town. Like you, I sincerely hope that the Redskins are just bluffing right now. IMHO, I agree that there is no way that RG3 is the 2nd best quarterback on the roster. Most likely, however, your thoughts, that this is a compromise of some sort, with Snyder and Allen, most likely are correct, unfortunately. I hope that the Redskins do not cut or trade Colt McCoy, and go with only Kirk Cousins and RG3, because, as has been said here, that would mean that as soon as Kirk Cousins struggled, RG3 would be the starter again. |

You are only 32, from what I have seen the people that listen to talk radio and news over and above music are older. I remember when I was 14 wondering why my 40 year old step-dad was listening to KFI 640 am (Still around in the LA area they have a real strong signal, you used to get them all the way to Vegas) in the mornings. Yet when I started approaching 40 I started to listen to sports talk more and more and music, less and less. I have friends that have done the same thing, we will see if you follow the trend. At 32 it was all about driving around listening to either classic rock or country. |
Bob, I'm gonna preface my statement for people that pass through the thread so no one else reads this post and gets sensitive/defensive. I am responding directly to Bob's statement above don't take this and jump to any grand assumptions about my opinion of Kirk, which I've already stated.
Okay...I disagree that last year Kirks picks did no real damage. 8 or Kirks 9 picks came in the second half of games. Some of the picks came when the game was in the balance so there was direct damage.
I don't have the greatest memory, but I can remember a few times figuring it would have taken a miracle anyway. So even if he doesn't throw the extra pick the Redskins loose. Also as I recall last year's defense made lower tier quarterbacks look like Hall of Famers in the 4th quarter. I think Terry Bridgewater lead two length of the field TD drives in the 4th quarter last year that beat the Redskins in a winnable game. I think we all can agree you can't always take statistics at face value. |

Is Chase Daniel worth the give up? I love the kid but I don't know that he is. We'll see how things play out but I sincerely hope that Snyder isn't forcing Gruden and Scot to keep him on the 53 man roster for 2015. If so, this soap opera can't end and we can't move on to play focused football. |

Interesting reading these tweets from a retired pro-soccer player about the Dr. that cleared RGIII. No wonder this dude stepped down.
https://twitter.com/alecko11 [B] @alecko11 I have just read that the neurologist involved in the RG3 concussion fiasco is Dr. Kurtzke.. @alecko11 I cannot tell you how much pent up anger I have towards this man, as he is the same doc who nearly caused me brain damage and maybe worse.. @alecko11 10 years ago when I suffered a Grade 3 concussion that took me a year to recover from, Dr. Kurtzke suggested to "just keep taking Tylenol". @alecko11 The fact that this quack still works w/ high profiled athletes is A JOKE. This man put my life at risk and is a name I will never forget. @alecko11 He cleared me to play just days after. So I began practicing w/ headaches + what felt like a 5 lb weight in my head. @alecko11 When I explained that taking painkillers and continuing to play w/ bad symptoms didn't seem smart, he asked me who the doctor was... @alecko11 I've never had a doctor be so condescending while spewing BS. But I wanted to play, and he told me I was fine to play. So I played... @alecko11 After practice that week my headaches + pressure in my head got so bad, I swerved behind the wheel + had to pull over. I knew I wasn't OK.. @alecko11 Anyone that has followed me on social media knows I HATE talking about my struggle w/ this. But reading this man's name just hit a nerve... @alecko11 Not true... Re: Cousins to start 2015 Season
It's stupid to dismiss a neurologists expertise based on one persons rant on twitter. People get very upset when they get sick and post crazy things -- and the very best doctors can't magically fix everything. His profile says he's a neurologist trained at Georgetown & Duke, was a Chief Resident, President of the Virginia Neurologic Society, and is a co-chairman for an advisory committee for Medicare. That's a *stellar* resume and I'm disappointed and embarrassed to see the NFL / ESPN smear this guy's reputation.
I wouldn't blame him for getting out of a contract w NFL. Too much publicity. I'd bet Griffin is just one patient he sees in a busy practice and has led to front-page news stories on ESPN. Too much hassle for not much benefit for him. |

He is not going to get rid of RG3 without getting something in return (like Jay would). And he's definitely doing a good job at convincing Snyder to move on from RG3. |
Re: Cousins to start 2015 Season
Why not keep RGIII till the trade deadline in October? Wait for teams QB's to get hurt and maybe someone will bite and give something in return.

It's well well known Reid is a big fan...Alex smith I think is in his last year of contract. Bills...just look at the worst line up of qb in the league. It would be very Rex of him to make the trade. I don't think Cleveland or the Jets wouldnt make a trade. And actually think the jets are competent at the qb position. We wouldn't trade to team in the east. Re: Cousins to start 2015 Season
No doubt the 5th year option injury clause is an issue.
I don't think it can be assumed that Scott is all hung-ho to get Griffin off the team and Snyder is alone in wanting him on the team. Scott inherited both Gruden and Griffin. I'm sure at this point its clear that Griffin isn't the best QB on this team to run J's offense and also clear that J isn't keen on catering his offense or continuing to develop Griffin. But, I'm sure Scott is also evaluating J. Maybe J will prove to be right and Kirk makes a leap from last year when he wasn't able to hold on to the job. Kirk stepping up is what is best for the franchise. But what if J's wrong? And Kirk can't hold it down? Then Scott would have shipped off Griffin only to watch plan A fail. I'm guessing the idea behind keeping Griffin is similar to the reason Kirk was drafted in the 1st place. To hedge. Now, I'm not sure how the mechanics/logistics work out keeping Griffin on the team but I bet that is where the thought process is on the members of the FO that want to keep Griffin. |

I really, really don't want to be there again. That's why I think J missed a real opportunity to buy himself time by drafting a QB this year. At least if these QBs fail he could look to a rook instead of Colt McCoy (who I like btw) as the QB of the future. That way there would at least be a reason not to dump him. But there is no way he fails with these QBs and gets to choose another, like you said it will be another HC. I would rather start again with Griffin then any of the prospects coming out next year. If you look at raw talent you aren't gonna get any better then Griff. |
Re: Cousins to start 2015 Season
it's probably more along the lines of the GM wants to get value if he can, even if it's just a 7th round pick or just 3m in cap space via a trade. I'm pretty sure he'd be looking for a new QB in the draft if this experiment doesn't work out.
|
Re: Cousins to start 2015 Season
We all agree it's been determined rg3 is not the future, so there is no way we ever want him to see the field bc of the risk of 16 mil injury possibility.
We all agree we don't rg3 to sabotage 16 million of cap space? |
