Re: The Haskins Threat
Haskins best quarter was the 4th quarter.

Moses said the video clip of Haskins asking the O line "what can I do to help you get better" was not Haskins chewing them out. He said Haskins is young. But that clip was cringeworthy.

Did Haskins take a shot at the play calling post game? If so ... less of that please. Too soon to get into the "Tom Brady and Aaron Rogers wouldnt be good on this team" deja vu.
Honestly fuck that the playcalling is absolute garbage and all those calling the plays will be gone well before Haskins. Also Moses can gtfo too. He is fucking awful. The whole line was awful. Good for Haskins if it pissed him off. This isn’t peewee these idiots are getting paid millions and should perform like it.

Playcalling has to be scaled back to ease Haskins in. I get that. Im fine with that. Hopefully he is part of the game plan process and people are actually communicating with each other.

Pass pro - I dont think its as simple as blaming the O line. They played above expectations when Case was in there getting the ball out on time on 3-5 step drops. Half the sacks yesterday seemed to be on Haskins not getting the ball out on time (guy not open or he doesnt trust his eyes yet?).

Haskins has the ability to slide protections, check out of plays etc so idk honestly. They had 6 sacks yesterday?

I don't think that clip was cringeworthy, I think it was helpful.

For 3 quarters they looked totally out of sync in all aspects. Rookie or not, if things aren't working right you have to talk to your guys and work through it. He did and miraculously things got better in the 4th quarter.

I don't think any of the 10 other guys on the field would respect Haskins if he just isolated himself off the field.

Re: The Haskins Thread

I think this was an honest request for help from his OL. Part of the problem of a rookie slow progression, a very good blitzing scheme, his slow release, etc.

This OL has gone from good, to decent to just plain awful. Moses has regressed significantly and with his multitude of penalties is a total liability. Scherff has also really gone downhill. For a guy in his contact year he looks like crap. I’ll be interested in what the next HC does with them. The loss of Trent to this OL can’t be overstated. He was the soul of the OL. Flowers is decent. Penn is just a stopgap.

This OL will take two years of draft picks and FA to fix.

Knowing what we know now where do you think Haskins should have been picked? I am kind of shocked how bad his fundamentals can be. He does have a nice arm, but overall has a long way to go. IMO he shouldn't have been a first round pick, more like mid 2nd round at best.

Projects like him should be taken in the 5th round. But QB's are always over drafted. Haskins reminds me so much of Cardale Jones. A big raw QB with a huge arm who really needed to stay in college. I believe Jones was taken in the 4th by the Bills.

Speaking of Jones he will be here in DC playing for the XFL team.

The team drafted him with the intent of sitting a year. Its not his fault that the team sucks so freaking bad that they really had no choice but to play him. If we were like a normal bad 4-7 or so, I think Case would still be playing. I still think he was the right pick at 15 and he will be a good QB. He for sure needs to find one of those QB guru's this offseason and work his ass off though. He is much better than Cardale Jones. Jones was a flash in the pan over a few games at the end of the season at OSU.

This team more than any other could use a stud TE and that along with guice out of backfield would give Haskins some options on the quick throws.. losing Reed and Davis was devastating to his development

This. The TE position going into this year was the biggest miss by whoever was involved with those decisions. It was inexcusable.

Not saying Haskins doesn’t have alot to learn, but he is a rookie, with what two starts? This staff and that o line....has no excuse. They stink. Lol.

Not sure if anyone caught Total Access but Michael Robinson pointed out a few plays Sun where guys were wide open but Haskins basically pre determined where he was throwing the ball. Said he is fine if read 1 is open, but pre and post snap is different. Hope we see some improvement next week. Lions really struggled last week on d.

they struggled vs a loaded offense and a seasoned QB, you can't expect Dwayne to put up big numbers this yr, he doesn't have the help nor did Keenum

Basic rookie growing pains. Luck changed the narrative here but every rookie will have foundational skills they struggle with, good coaches and teams can mask that. I hope we see tremendous improvement in that arena in the offseason I am not sure a lame duck coaching staff is the group that will work on/fix that

He's definitely a project, his development is going to depend on getting the right people around him to coach him up.

This was the first play that really impressed me with Haskins. Small sample size but I really hope he's the last qb we're going to have to need for the next decade.

Problem is he has the rookie adjusting to NFL defenses growing pains along with having issues with poor fundamentals. He has a lot of catching up to do.

Which is why I wanted him to sit until he was ready. You don't need to be in the game to learn fundamentals. A year of practice reps wouldn't have hurt him.

Moot point now though, we've thrown the kid to the wolves. Hope he swims instead of sinks.

Good read about why it's not smart to judge a qb after 2 starts.

I’ve mentioned this throw several times including in the game day thread when it happened. I was sitting right down there where McLaurin wound up. Got called back but that was an eye opener for sure. Unbelievable throw.

I think we see that practice reps were insignificant compared to letting him take first team reps. I do think the coaching staff from Gruden to Callahan to KOC should have set a public date of the Jets game from the very beginning, and given him something to work towards. Callahan definitely should have when he took over.

He had a few big time throws , and that one to Terry was special! Also as I mentioned, he had his highest graded game when he actually had time to prepare.

Re: The Haskins Threat

Gun to my head, I'm betting on Haskins being a franchise qb for us.

The McLaurin pick is right up there for best pick in the draft (given the round/pick number).

The team nailed that one. I love this kid. Haskins, Guice/Love, McLaurin/Harmon, man I can get down with that. Obviously Haskins needs to keep improving and we need health at RB. But the potential is great.

Of course Bruce is here, so none of it matters anyway. Dan Snyder can eat a bowl of dicks. 2 bowls if Allen isn't gone after this season.

I will give Snyder 1 week after the season ends to can Allen. And if he doesn’t, I am done for good. After 46 years of being a fan. I can’t take another season like this one.

On the bright side there is nowhere to go but up. Down over 30 to the Jets at home to start the 4th? I think that is hitting rock bottom.

Haskins is getting better as the game has progressed. I’m also impressed by the playcalling of O’Connell late in the game. I thought that OC has been hindered by conservative Gruden and Uberconservative Callahan. But it looked like they unleashed him. A flea flicker!! We may lose but the team is playing hard and for the win!

I just go by the eye test and the kid doesn't have it. He can throw and shit out of the ball and really moves well, but it's the accuracy. It's like what Gruden said when he's bad he's "abnormally bad." The offense didn't score a TD against a bad defense.

Yeah this unfortunately. That was the worst pass D in football and he completed 13 passes with no td’s. I am trying hard not to rain on our little 2-9 parade here but come on. Thats John Beckish.
