The 2nd Amendment Thread
75 percent of hate crimes committed by extreme right over last ten years. Your post is just a sad attempt to rewrite reality.
Your last statement is the only true part of your post and yet your rhetoric against Transgender people is a daily thing on this board. Jesus Christ. |
Punch, not once did I say right wing violence doesn’t occur..but to ignore the left violence we are seeing a rise in over the last ten years is laughable.
We have like 30 Antifa and left wing protesters arrest in Georgia under domestic terrorists chargers recently Transgender and nonbinary mass shooters over the last couple years You had the BLM riots which billions in damages done, 27 killed and 100s of police officers injured Yet you ignore Jan 6th You have Police ambush style killing which are a result of anti police rhetoric from the left Not from the Left, from Criminals, you assume are criminals are leftist You had pro life clinics attacks and firebombed by left wing activists after the Roe decision LOL, nope that's a Tea Party Christian Right thing! You had illegal Supreme Court protest at their house, where a left winger attempted an assassination. Let me suggest Political Science and best selling author Wilfred Reilly ( African American) who has written extensively about the rise of antisemitism and Asian hate, along with his data sets that prove that last point about who/where these crimes are committed. Here is an article which grabs a lot from his 2019 book: https://www.commentary.org/articles/wilfred-reilly/crime-against-asians-isnt-due-to-white-supremacy/ Lol and Reilly isn’t a Trump fan |

Re: The 2nd Amendment Thread
Is one kind of murder worse than another kind?
Can't imagine anyone I know getting murdered and thinking something like, whew, at least it wasn't a hate crime. He just got shot during a robbery. We all do it, because the human condition sucks sometimes. We focus on things that validate what we already think, and downplay the rest. This country simply doesn’t value the sanctity of life. And it's just getting worse and worse. So we will continue to see death come from all angles. Life is fucking precious. Let's act like it. Note - If you're a racist, white trash loser, that kills someone because they're not you, go fuck yourself. You're pure evil. |

School leader defends decision not to expel Richmond student who allegedly threatened to shoot teacher Peak into why Richmond city schools are consistently ranked at the bottom of the state. They allow students to threaten to shoot teachers. “ Multiple teachers at the school said they were scared for their lives because they did not know if the student had received any mental health treatment, or what type of interventions the school would have in place to keep students and staff safe.” These are the same folks who claim a single armed security at a school “makes it seem like a prison” while Richmond city as well as Democratic run county outside the city just approved 10 million in tax money to install metal detectors in high schools. What type of retard thinks an armed security guard looks worse than metals detectors to come into school each day? These people don’t care about protecting kids or teachers, they are fucking joke |

I guess I'm just missing the point of your post then. Unless, it's just that guns are bad. And I'd submit guns are not bad, people that shoot people are bad. Guns are the only instrument of violence where the object gets the blame and the people shooting them are a distant 2nd. We injure/kill each other in lots of different ways, we never have these discussions for knives, bats, hands, cars, etc., etc. Nothing was stopping this shooting besides guns being outlawed or this guy not being a piece of shit. |

Nothing was stopping this shooting besides guns being outlawed or this guy not being a piece of shit.
Simple point is guns are part of the problem. I'll emphasize part of the problem, not the only problem. The US is an outlier when compared to the rest of the world. We have the most guns, we have the most gun violence. It's been shown time and time again that countries with tighter gun control have less gun violence. Gun violence and specifically mass shootings are a uniquely American problem. But what I keep hearing from people like yourself is oh well, nothing would have stopped this latest incident so why bother trying anything. |

The guy is a murderer and should be prosecuted as such.
IMO, it's all intertwined. I don't advocate to take guns away but I don't understand the fight back against licensing gun owners like we do with cars. There are age limits, and restrictions and rules and laws to follow all to do with safety. If I can't pass the eye test I can't get my license or renew it till I see a Dr. notice they won't take my car away. But I will need insurance and such. IMO I just think this is common sense but we all know the NRA will scream it is "infringing on my 2nd Amendment Rights". Sorry but a gun owner needs to explain it to me. It's not the gun it's the gun operator but why shouldn't the gun operator be held to a high standard as much as a operator of a vehicle? |

I just think this example is not the right one to use to make the point your trying to make. These type shootings cannot be legislated out of happening, unless the legislation is to ban all guns. This guy is a scumbag that needs to spend the rest of his life in prison, so he cannot shoot anyone else ever again. In regards to me personally, I have previously stated I'm for raising the age to own guns to 21, background checks, spending on mental healthcare, etc. My dog in the fight isn't about requirements to own a gun, I just care about not banning certain type guns. |

Someone else will have to answer those for you, because I don't disagree on them. I just believe all lawfully abiding citizens have the right to own guns of their choosing. |
Re: The 2nd Amendment Thread
We definitely have a gun crime problem, laws on the books but people refuse to actually enforce the laws and lock up criminals which works.
Until we start to lock up the criminals and enforce gun laws, then I’m a solid no on any new gun laws. Why create more laws if you fail to enforce them? At this point you are purposely attacking law abiding citizens with guns aka the overwhelming majority |

I was just bringing them up in the grand scheme of the gun control debate in general. But who knows, maybe they could have been prevented if we had jumped on gun control reform years ago and aggressively funded mental health related support programs. We'll never know 100%. To me it's just sad that in the US we have a clear health and safety issue and we've prioritized guns and the 2nd amendment over all else. |

If guns are the problem, show me you care
I rarely say this, but Chico has a valid point. Firearm crimes are most rampant in urban areas with large populations, and it's predominantly where illegal weapons are used to commit those crimes. Yet voters in urban areas overwhelmingly favor DA's in elections who are not tough on crime. |

Many lawfully abiding citizens are not allowed to drive because they can not operate the vehicle safely, why are guns different? |

I just believe all physically/mentally fit lawfully abiding citizens have the right to own guns of their choosing.* Also, I have no problem with gun safety courses being a requirement prior to purchasing a gun, and definitely before your 1st gun. |

If guns are the problem, show me you care
So we need to wait until a crime is committed? Until someone dies? How bout we just do a little bit better making sure that they aren’t as accessible as baseball cards? Do you really think that some dipshit criminal is going to have an epiphany about what he is about to do because some dude on the block got a ten year prison sentence? Im not opposed to your idea at all. Hell give em 20. But the true problem is much deeper than that. On several levels actually but Im not even going to go there. Nah fuck that I am. I’ll simply say besides gun availability there is an extremely deep rooted problem with opportunities for most people in those urban areas. I was never 6 years old walking home from kindergarten and being taught about power, money, and opportunity through crime because as a white kid growing up on a brady bunch block I had other avenues. |

IMO, if you're going to have guns in your house, then the earlier you can teach your kids about them, the better. I'd rather my make believe kid know about guns and find one in my condo, then somehow get a hold of it w/o knowing about it. I wouldn't want some stranger teaching my kid about anything sex related, at a young age. Straight, gay, or anything in between or around. And I don't think that's what a teachers' jobs should be.
